Chapter 1
Selene's POV
"Oops, I thought that was supposed to go in the trash," Becca Flynn giggled as I bent to pick up my college essay.
Just one more semester, one more semester in this savage place and I’ll be out of Brooklyn High School for good. I fumed inwardly; that was the best I could do at this point.
My name's Selene Greasely, and I've endured a terrible life at Brooklyn High since forever.
Without saying a word, I headed straight toward the homeroom teacher’s office.
Suddenly, I heard a familiar, slutty voice from behind Miss Perkins’ door.
"My, my, I guess you want to miss Perkins’ attention, huh?" Becca Flynn drawled with a smirk.
I halted mid-step. The door was slightly ajar, and I could see inside.
Miss Perkins leaned in, her blouse open at the collar, revealing the upper curve of her breasts.
"You're crossing a line here," Miss Perkins tried to sound stern, but a chuckle escaped her lips as a guy traced a finger along her skin.
My heart hammered against my chest. I should have turned away, stop watching, but I couldn’t.
My feet felt glued to the ground. Curiosity overtook me. I leaned in closer to the door.
Through the crack, I saw his back tall and broad at the shoulders, wearing the school jacket.
His dark hair overshadowed part of his face as he pressed his lips to Miss Perkins’, squeezing her breast.
"Shit," I gasped, the book I held and my college essay portfolio dropping to the ground.
They definitely heard that. They jerked apart, and Miss Perkins hurried to fix her blouse.
I quickly scooped up my books and dashed down the hallway, adrenaline rushing through me.
I burst into an empty classroom to catch my breath.
But it didn’t last long. Suddenly, I was yanked roughly by the arm and slammed against the wall.
"What did you see?" he hissed hotly, his face inches from mine.
I winced as his fingers dug into my arms.
Of course, it was Ethan Campbell, Brooklyn High’s most notorious flirt and my tormentor.
"Let go of me!" I yelped, trying to wrestle free, but his grip was too strong.
"Not until you tell me what you saw," he growled.
I struggled, but his hold tightened. His gaze was dangerous.
"Making out with Miss Perkins so she can help you with your college essay? That's low even for you, Ethan Campbell," I spat.
He eased his grip slightly, a naughty smirk curling his lips.
"No one, I repeat, no one, must hear about this. And make sure you never make it into any college in this country," he whispered threateningly.
A cold shiver ran down my spine. I knew how powerful his threats were. His father was one of the country’s top billionaires and pulled strings all over Brooklyn High.
"I swear I won’t tell anyone," I said hurriedly, my eyes wide with panic.
He finally let go, and I didn’t hesitate to bolt out of the classroom.
This was Brooklyn High: a place where I was the scholastic freak, and Ethan Campbell, the school’s hottest guy and hockey captain, derived joy from bullying me.
"One more semester," I whispered to myself as I stepped outside. "Then I’m out of this hellhole for good."
When I arrived home, I expected the usual chaos, curses flying through the air. But surprisingly, things seemed calm.
Mom was home, folding clothes, looking unusually cheerful.
"What’s happening?" I asked, noting her upbeat mood. Her excitement was contagious, and I couldn’t ignore it.
Her face suddenly paled. I immediately regretted asking.
"Stupid child," she snapped, then sighed.
"Since I have no choice but to drag your sorry ass along, I might as well tell you. I just got married and we’re moving out." She fell back into a happier mood.
"What? Who? Where?" I asked.
"Don’t ask so many questions," she snapped. "This is the first good thing that’s happened to me since your father ran off with all my money."She dropped her clothes and stormed over, poking me in the chest.
"You better not ruin this good thing I have going," she warned. "Or I’ll make sure you breathe your last breath."
I nodded obediently. She hated me, and honestly, I didn’t blame her.
Dad had stolen everything and abandoned us. We later learned he died trying to escape somewhere else.
I packed what little I cared about there wasn’t much. Mom insisted I wouldn’t need the old stuff.
Soon, the car pulled up in front of her employer’s mansion, the house where she worked as a maid. She probably wanted to tell him about her wedding and her new life. She wouldn’t be working for him anymore.
"Come out and stop being sloppy," she snapped.
I stepped out, and we entered the mansion together.
Mom didn’t like me coming to her workplace. She always called me a “jinx” who ruined her plans.
Suddenly, Alfred Campbell, her employer, appeared at the top of the stairs looking like a billboard model.
"Welcome, Victoria," he boomed, kissing her on the lips.
Hold up. Did Alfred Campbell, the renowned billionaire, just kiss my mom? I must be imagining things.
He stepped back, noticing me.
"Ah, Selene. So lovely to see you. Welcome to your new home."
"New home?" I nearly spat. What in the world is going on?
Alfred smiled warmly and gestured.
"My son should be down in a minute. He just got back from school. You should know him."
I looked up as someone approached, my jaw dropping in confusion.
Alfred nodded toward him.
"Ethan, meet your new mom and sister."

After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
A Lesson in Magic
The Lycan Kings and the White Wolf.
I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
The Forbidden Throb
Mine changed in the time it took to open a door.
Behind it: my fiancé Nicholas with another woman.
Three months until our wedding. Three seconds to watch it all burn.
I should have run. Should have screamed. Should have done anything except stand there like a fool.
Instead, I heard the devil himself whisper in my ear:
"If you're willing, I could marry you."
Daniel. The brother I was warned about. The one who made Nicholas look like a choir boy.
He leaned against the wall, watching my world implode.
My pulse thundered. "What?"
"You heard me." His eyes burned into mine. "Marry me, Emma."
But as I stared into those magnetic eyes, I realized something terrifying:
I wanted to say yes to him.
Game on.
