Introduction
This continued until I became pregnant. He ripped my prenatal report to shreds.
"The child and you, only one can live!"
I had no choice but to leave, filled with bitterness.
Years later, when we meet again, I am a woman who can command the winds and rains in the business world.
I tear apart his proposal, piece by piece, and say in a cold voice: "Today, your company and you, only one can live!"
Chapter 1
"It's been a while since we made love..." Tristan Lancaster'sthin lips brushed against Harriet Getty's ear, his deep, husky voice dripping with seduction.
"Tristan, I need to get to the hospital."
Harriet dodged his approaching kiss.
"Just once!"
Time seemed to stretch endlessly.
It wasn't until Harriet felt she might faint that Tristan finally let her go.
"Did I hurt you?" Tristan's deep, pleasant voice came from beside her ear. "I'll have someone buy you the latest designer bag."
Harriet slowly opened her eyes to look at him.
Tristan was incredibly handsome, his features astonishingly perfect, and his demeanor cold and aloof. Perhaps because they had just made love, there was still a trace of desire on his flawless face.
After three years of marriage, Harriet could tell he had enjoyed himself.
That's why he was being so generous.
Harriet gave a bitter smile. "Did you forget I'm still in prison?"
"Then you can use it after you're released."
Harriet's heart ached sharply!
He spoke so casually, as if her imprisonment was just a vacation.
"Aren't you getting out soon?" Tristan's hand gently touched her face in a comforting manner. "I told you, a year goes by quickly."
Harriet fought back her tears, grabbing his hand, her voice dry and strained. "The hospital notified me that my grandma isn't feeling well. Do you have time to come with me to see her?"
Being in prison, Harriet couldn't leave freely.
Fortunately, due to her good behavior, she had been granted a day of family leave.
She had left the prison early in the morning, intending to go straight to the hospital. But she worried her grandmother, Cleo Getty, would be concerned if she saw her in her prison clothes, so she returned to change. That's when she ran into Tristan, who had just returned from a business trip abroad.
She was anxious to get to the hospital, but Tristan insisted on making love, delaying her all morning.
Harriet thought it might be a good thing to run into him. Cleo would be happy to see him if they went together.
But the next moment, Tristan pulled his hand away.
Harriet's heart felt empty!
"I have things to do this afternoon. You go by yourself." Tristan got up, took a bank card from the bedside drawer, and handed it to her. "Buy something nice for your grandma."
Harriet wasn't surprised; this wasn't the first time he used money to brush her off.
He never understood that what Cleo needed wasn't money, but to see them as a loving couple.
Tristan left after showering and getting dressed, without even saying goodbye.
Harriet got up and tidied up briefly. When she got out of bed, her legs were still trembling.
She made some dumplings, packed them, and headed to the hospital, planning to cook them for Cleo.
When she walked into the hospital room, Harriet froze, the bag in her hand dropping to the floor!
"Grandma!"
Cleo had always been frail and hospitalized long-term, but she had never needed a ventilator like this before!
Harriet rushed forward, calling out anxiously. "Grandma, I'm back. Open your eyes and look at me, Grandma!"
Cleo struggled to open her eyes, a glimmer of light appearing in her old, dull eyes. "Harriet, you're here."
"What's wrong, Grandma?" Harriet asked urgently. "The nurse said you were just feeling a bit unwell and missed me. How did it get this serious?"
"I didn't want to scare you, so I told the nurse to say that. Harriet, I'm not going to make it."
"No!"
Harriet grabbed her hand, looking closely at Cleo.
She could tell that Cleo's time was near.
Tears streamed down her face, her heart breaking.
"Harriet, life and death are natural. Don't cry." Cleo caressed her face. "Having such a devoted granddaughter like you, I have no regrets. I'm just worried about you."
"Grandma, please don't leave me!" Harriet wiped her tears away and forced a smile. "I'll be out of prison in a month. I'll be with you every day after that. You've always wanted to go back to the countryside, right? Once you're better, we'll go..."
"Alright." Cleo looked at her lovingly. "Bring Tristan too. I want you two to give me a beautiful, great-grandchild."
Knowing it was impossible, Harriet still nodded firmly. "Okay, he'll agree. He wanted to come see you, but there was an urgent matter at the company."
"Work is important."
Cleo took a half-moon jade pendant from under her pillow and placed it in Harriet's hand.
It was carved with a phoenix, the jade fine and smooth, a rare and precious piece.
"Harriet, keep this safe. It's yours..."
Before Cleo could finish, the door to the room suddenly opened.
Tristan entered, wearing a custom-tailored dark suit, his tall, slender figure exuding an innate elegance.
Harriet's eyes lit up. "Grandma, Tristan's here. Tristan came to see you!"
Tristan approached the bed, but his expression was off.
Usually calm and composed, his face now showed a hint of nervousness and unease. "Harriet, Lark is sick and needs you to donate blood immediately."
Harriet was stunned. She had thought Tristan was worried about Cleo, but it turned out to be about Lark Brown!
Of course, in this world, the woman Tristan loved most was his childhood sweetheart, Lark. No one could compare to her!
Harriet swallowed her pain, choking out, "Grandma is in critical condition. I need to stay with her. Tristan, can't Lark use the blood bank's supply?"
"Rh-negative O blood is rare, and this hospital doesn't have any. The nearest blood bank is over an hour away. By the time the blood arrives, it might be too late." Tristan grabbed her wrist, pulling her out. "Harriet, this is a matter of life and death. You have to go!"
"I need to stay with my grandma! Let go of me!" Harriet struggled, but it was futile.
"Harriet... Harriet!" Cleo reached out towards her from the bed, urgently trying to speak. "There's something about your birth I've never told you. Actually, you..."
"Grandma!"
Harriet was pulled out of the room and taken directly to the blood donation center.
Normally, a person shouldn't donate more than a pint of blood, but Tristan insisted that Lark needed more, so they took two pints.
After donating, Harriet's face was as pale as a sheet.
She forced herself to stand, leaning against the wall as she made her way back to Cleo's room, only to find the ventilator had stopped working, and a white sheet covered Cleo's frail body!
Her vision spun, and she collapsed to the floor.
She didn't even have the strength to cry, crawling towards Cleo with difficulty.
"No... Grandma... please don't leave me..."
She knelt by the bed, holding Cleo's body, overwhelmed with grief.
"Harriet, I'm sorry for your loss."
Tristan's deep, indifferent voice came from behind her. "By the way, Lark is out of danger. Thank you... Also, the prison called. It's time for you to go back."
Harriet's heart ached so much she could barely breathe. She grabbed Tristan's pant leg, pleading, "Tristan, please help me talk to the prison. Grandma just passed away. I need to stay to keep vigil and handle her affairs."
Tristan frowned. "Prisons aren't places you can negotiate with money. I know you're upset, but you need to think before you speak."
"Am I not thinking?" Harriet looked up at him. "I've been in prison for eleven months, taken out four times to donate blood to Lark, all because you paid for it. Why can't you do it now?"
"It's different."

On Christmas Eve, I aborted the CEO's child
On Christmas Eve night, my husband brought his mistress home and demanded that I, his pregnant wife, leave with nothing.
On this day, I lost my husband and also lost the child in my womb...
I Loved You in Silence, You Betrayed Me in French
At my birthday party, my husband whispered to his mistress in French that he missed her. His voice was low, but I heard it all—the black lingerie, the bit about how pregnancy makes you more sensitive. His French clients around us were laughing. He turned and put his arm around me, claiming he was just helping his clients come up with sweet nothings.
He doesn't know I understand every single word. Just like he doesn't know that inside my body, I'm carrying his other surprise. And his mistress—she's pregnant too. Two wombs, one secret.
Confrontation would be too cheap. Tears are worthless. I quietly started cataloging the hidden networks my father left behind, activating the Swiss accounts.
In seven days, Zoey Smith will cease to exist. And what will my husband's reaction be?
He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
When I Disappeared, He Regretted It
The moment the screen lit up, my entire world came crashing down.
The woman on the bed was Calista - that girl who grew up with us since we were kids. And that hand caressing her skin was wearing the wedding ring I had personally put on Matteo's finger.
"I've missed you so much..."
"You drive me crazy, baby..."
Those sweet words I knew so well completely destroyed me.
Everyone said we were the perfect couple, but who knew this marriage was built on nothing but lies?
Since he's so good at acting, I guess it's time I gave him a show of my own. I'm going to make sure everyone sees what this "perfect husband" really is...
He Thought I'd Never Leave
When he said he was being bullied, I believed him. When he kissed me on that rooftop, I thought he felt the same. When he asked me to transfer schools with him, I said yes without hesitation.
Then I heard him bragging to his friends: "She'd save her first time for me. Hell, she'd still be thinking of me on her wedding night."
The bullying was staged. The kiss meant nothing. He just wanted me gone—so his new girl could feel more comfortable.
He thought I'd beg. He thought I'd cry. He thought I'd never actually leave.
I left the country.
And ran straight into his stepbrother.
I Died While They Threw Her a Party
Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.
When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.
My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"
"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."
They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.
I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.
But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
