Introduction

Amelia grew up being treated as an outcast by her own pack, her father included. She has been disliked for being the reason her mother died and was raised as an Omega. Alexei on the other hand was raised to be the King of the four nations but with rebel forces rising across the land, he is pressured to take on a mate. He decides to put in place the Luna trials to find a woman worthy of ruling beside him. What he did not anticipate was to find a scrawny, weak Earth wolf with no powers as his mate. He tries to push her away but when the women from the werewolf trials start going missing the pair must work together to find out who is responsible. Their feelings for one another continue to grow but how long will Alexei deny their bond?

Chapter 1

Our world was one created for wonders and fun. But in a land where magic and madness co-exist as one, we were truly prepared for when that magic comes undone.

The world is built on its own foundation. And in each world, there is no stronger bond than that of attraction. And in the world of Androsia, a land made up of four nations represented by the four elements: water, wind, earth, and fire, with each nation clawing at the others for control, it is only the bounds of love that keeps them together.

The fire kingdom used their bodily strength and their stability to use their element of destruction to subdue their enemies and take over the no-man's land. There, they established the center and called it their new home.

They ruled tribes out of fear and forced them to bow down to them and see them as their rightful rulers. That was 3000 years ago, and although the fire kingdom had made itself comfortable in their element, what they didn't know was that things were soon about to change, and the so-called peace they had created, which they had prided themselves on, was sure to soon come tumbling down on them.

….

"Get up, you mutt!" Alana heard a cold liquid splash her face. She sat up abruptly and wiped away the strands of hair from her face.

She pulled her eyes open as she groaned when her eyes landed on the shoes, she drifted her eyes upwards to find a guard staring at her with his arms crossed.

She cussed under her breathe when she saw that it was Salem. One of the cultivators, he had never taken a liking of her, and he took much pleasure in playing games with her.

"You are late." He hissed, and without another word, he turned around and made his way out of her cell. To her dismay, she was forced to stand on shaky feet as she got slightly lightheaded at first.

She brushed off the dirt from her torn, ragged dress as she took a deep breath. It was no time for her to sulk about all of the things that were going wrong in her life. She would simply have to look at the bright side of things and look forward to that.

She slowly made her way out of her cell and up the stairs. She had to be cautious, knowing that she would receive a beating if she were to accidentally wake someone up.

She tiptoed up the set of stairs as she held her breath and made her way to the kitchen. As she glanced at the clock on the wall, she took notice of the fact that it was only 4 a.m. It seemed as though they enjoyed waking her up at a new time every day.

She had to start making breakfast, and there was no need for anyone to tell her if that was so, as she was already aware of it. It would often take her three to four hours to make a full meal for the pack. It would consist of the usual Earth Kingdom breakfast that consisted of sardine sandwiches, green salads, herb tea, and pancakes stuffed with lettuce. Despite the fact that she was forced to cook, she did enjoy it.

At just past 8:15, she started hearing commotion coming from around her. At the palace, they were strict on time, and the last time that she delayed serving them, even for a few moments, it had cost her terribly. She shuddered at the very thought of it.

She made her way towards the dining room as she began drying things up. She tried not to let her own fear or anxiety get the best of her as she heard the sounds of heavy footsteps coming down the stairs. It was always best for her to get in and out before she was spotted by anyone.

She had just finished setting up the 40 plates on the dining table as well as the cutlery when she heard the side door being shaken. She hurried to exit the grand dining hall through the side door that led to the kitchen.

She stiffened when she heard movement coming from the kitchen but felt her body relax after a moment when she realized that there was no cause for alarm as it was only Blake.

"You need to stop doing that," she said to him in a voice that was barely above a whisper, but she knew that he had heard her as he was quick to turn around and face her with a small smile.

"Hey, my little bunny." He said to her with a bright smile. She rolled her eyes at him, cringing at the nickname, before making her way inside. She groaned as she realized that he had already eaten two of the pancakes.

"Why do you always do that?" She muttered, and she watched as he raised up his hands in defense: "Hey, don't blame me, okay?" They were just too good, and I simply couldn't resist." He said to her.

She began to grab the food, and she panicked when he tried to help her. "You know you can't do that. I don't want to get both of us into trouble." She said to him.

He shook his head in protest, but she only gave him a stern look as she tried to keep herself level-headed. "You know you can't argue with me. That is not something that we can change." She said to him as she shrugged her shoulders.

"But that isn't right; we both know it isn't right. After all, you're the princess; there should be some respect." He said to her.

Her face fell at his words, as she knew that although they were the truth, there was nothing that either of them could have done about it.

"Well, that means nothing when you don't have powers. The weak will fall, remember." She hissed as she showed him the burnt flesh on her wrist that told a thousand tales.

Some days later, they sent me to the operating room.

Dad said, "Yvonne will finally be saved. We're so proud of you."

Mom said, "After the surgery, we'll make it up to you."

Gilbert looked tenderly at Yvonne and said, "When you're better, where should we travel?"

What they didn't know was that the day I agreed, I'd just received my diagnosis, stage four cancer. Three months to live.

As I lay on the cold operating table, as the anesthesia began to take effect, I only wanted to know one thing:

When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.

My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"

"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."

Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.

He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.

Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.

"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."

When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.

My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.

Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."

But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.

Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.

Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.

George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.

Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.

When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.

"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"

George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"

"I'm afraid that's impossible."

Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

I was so, so stupid.
