Adelaide Montagu was killed by her most trusted friend, Saskia Davis, and a man.
The two strangled her with a rope and hung her from a tall tree deep in the forest, leaving her to be devoured by insects and ants.
A week later, Adelaide's nominal husband, Sebastian Manners, found her disfigured body while leaning on a cane and cried out in despair as he held her corpse.
Adelaide realized that the person who loved her the most was Sebastian.
Her soul followed Sebastian, to witness he took revenge on the murderer.
Afterward, Sebastian changed into clean clothes and went to the ice room where Adelaide's body was kept.
Lying down beside Adelaide, Sebastian looked at her affectionately and said, "Adelaide, I have avenged you. Wait for me, I'll be with you soon."
With those words, a relieved smile appeared on Sebastian's face.
It was only then that Adelaide noticed Sebastian had slit his wrist, and blood quickly stained the sheets red.
She never expected Sebastian to die for her.
Adelaide was shaken to her core.
She wanted to cry, but ghosts have no tears.
Adelaide tried to grasp his wrist to stop the bleeding, but she couldn't do anything and could only shout helplessly, "Sebastian, no! Go to find a doctor!"

In her previous life, she had hated Sebastian for trapping her, so she had helped Gavin Manners, the illegitimate son, to fight against Sebastian for the Manners family inheritance.

Adelaide's words drew disdainful looks.
But Adelaide didn't care, she smiled at Sebastian.
Sebastian frowned slightly, "Love? Do you think I'll believe that? Even if it's true, I don't love you."
"It doesn't matter. I love you." Adelaide assured, "I believe that one day you'll love me too."
With that, Adelaide got up and approached Sebastian.
She knelt down to look him in the eye, "Sebastian, from now on, I'll take care of you. Give me a chance, and I'll show you my sincerity."
"Since the money has been taken, I have an obligation to stay and take care of you. I'm not leaving," Adelaide said firmly.
She continued, "Please let me stay. If I leave the Manners Villa, I have nowhere to go. If my stepmother finds out I've been sent back, she won't be happy."
"Sebastian, I'm easy to take care of. Just give me a meal, and I'll be fine. I want to stay and take care of you." As she spoke, Adelaide's eyes reddened.
She pinched her thigh, her eyes welling up with tears.
Sebastian frowned at her, noticing her subtle actions.
After a long while, Sebastian slowly looked away.
