Before sacrificing everything, I tested her with one lie.
I told her the dying patient was me.

Chapter 1

When my fiancée’s medical exam revealed kidney failure, I prepared to sell our home—and even give her one of my kidneys.

Before sacrificing everything, I tested her with one lie.

I told her the dying patient was me.

She canceled our wedding in seconds, refused to return my money, and planned to keep our apartment after my death.

Then she picked up the report and saw the patient’s name.

It wasn’t mine.

It was hers.

The premarital physical was supposed to be a formality.

Chloe Morris and I had already booked the hotel, taken our engagement photos, and bought the apartment we planned to live in after the wedding. Her name was on the deed because I had believed, foolishly and completely, that marriage meant sharing a life.

Then the hospital called.

The report said advanced kidney failure.

Chloe did not know. The hospital had reached me first because I had left my number as the emergency contact. I stood in the corridor outside the nephrology department with the report in my hand and felt the world tilt under my feet.

The doctor told me there were only two real paths from here: dialysis for the rest of her life, or a kidney transplant if we could find a match.

The transplant alone would cost about eight hundred thousand dollars once everything was counted.

I did not hesitate.

That afternoon, I quietly arranged to be tested as a donor. Then I called a real estate agent and listed the apartment. I had paid the down payment myself. Selling it at a loss hurt, but Chloe's life mattered more than the money.

When I told my mother what I had done, she was silent for a long time.

Then she said, "Evan, if you insist on saving her, I won't stop you. But before you hand over your kidney and your home, try one thing for me."

"What?"

"Tell Chloe the patient is you. Tell her you have kidney failure. See what she does."

I almost laughed. Chloe was my fiancee. We had been together for years. She would cry. She would panic. She would look for every possible way to save me, the same way I was trying to save her.

At least, that was what I believed.

So I went to her family's apartment that night with a fake calm on my face and the real report folded in my coat pocket.

Chloe opened the door with a smile.

I looked at her and said, "The physical came back. I have advanced kidney failure."

Her smile disappeared.

For a few seconds, she only stared at me.

Then she said, very quietly, "In that case, we shouldn't get married."

The Rejected Luna’s Rise

They were already married for three years when Alpha Damian Zeus’s long-lost first love, Lily, returned bringing along a five-year-old pup.

Luna Ariana Volkstane slid the formal rejection request across the table. "Let's end this bond. It's better for you, me, and your first love."

He just smirked. "You want me to reject you? You think you can break our bond that easily?"

So she did. Ariana cut ties with him completely, poured herself into her career, and rose to global fame as a legendary healer, her knowledge of rare herbs, wolf anatomy, and ancient magic sought after across continents.

The powerful suitors lined up. The Alpha of an overseas empire whispered, "Ariana, hurry up and perform the severing ritual. I can't wait to claim you." A powerful pack leader vowed, "I'll be there with you the day you break the bond." A legendary wolf attorney promised, "I'll handle your rejection case with the pack council myself."

Ariana just rubbed her temples. It's not that she didn't want the split, she wanted it more than anything, it's just that the Alpha she was mated to refused to let go.

Finally, she announced, "Whoever can officially get me rejected, I'll put you at the head table of my bond-breaking celebration."

Not long after, Alpha Damian was served the official rejection request right in the middle of an emergency pack council meeting. That same afternoon, he was attacked by rogues at the gates of his own territory.

When Ariana showed up at the pack infirmary with healing herbs, she repeated calmly, "Let's sever the mate bond. It's better for you, me, and everyone else."

But the cold, untouchable Alpha pulled her into his arms, his eyes blood-red with fury. "You want me to reject you? Over my dead body."

I woke up three years into a marriage I barely remembered—pregnant with twins that weren't my husband's.

But when that same stranger's doctor appeared at my door, when twenty million dollars exchanged hands over a fake perfume bearing my secret identity, and when Damon's gray eyes locked onto mine with recognition I couldn't afford, I realized my carefully hidden life as the legendary perfumer Vera was colliding with a pregnancy that could cost me everything.

Could I protect my babies from the husband plotting my death, hide my true identity from the Alpha who's been hunting me for years, and reclaim the freedom I'd buried along with my dreams—even if it means standing alone against the wolves who see me as nothing more than a womb to be used and discarded?
