Chapter 1
Amelia POV
"Now I don't need to state my rules anymore, as you already know them. If you can be as professional as I want you to be, you will be rewarded. These men are VIp clients and we cannot afford to lose them, so don't mess it up." My boss's intimidating voice resonated across the room.
I looked towards the other hostess, who, like me, was a little bit scared of what the boss could do if the instructions were not met up.
Suddenly, some men stepped into the room and my attention was drawn to them, as they took their seats. They were dressed in well styled dark Armani suits and their aura screamed so much power.
I wasn't particularly interested in whatever they meant, but when my gaze landed on Lucas everything changed. My heart beat begins to increase fast paced.
What if he blew my disguise?
Meanwhile Jeffery was standing right next to him, and he was completely concentrated in the conversation, unaware of my presence.
I was handed a tray of several drinks by my boss with a daring eye, reminding me of the outcomes, if I failed him.
I took the drink and headed towards their table, my smile wide and welcoming. I tried to ignore the presence of Lucas, as I dropped the tray of drinks on the table. I tried not to show that I was anxious around him.
On the other hand, Lucas's eyes kept on trailing my body and I could not read any of his expressions from his look and this gave me another wave of panic.
"Come and have a seat." One of the men besides Lucas instructed.
I turned to look at my boss, who had been paying close attention and he gave a nod gesture for me to proceed.
While seating with the men, the mood in the table changed and slowly their banters and other conversations began to increase.
I wanted to leave, but I knew better not than to disobey my boss. Other than that, I wanted to find out the truth behind their luxury as glamorous lifestyle. This was my task now and I can't go back until there is a story to tell.
My attention suddenly caught one of the men, who had been staring down at me, amidst their conversation. He appeared to be the silent one amongst them, and his stares made me uncomfortable.
"Hi." I summoned the courage to speak.
He had blue piercing eyes, which were locked into mine and I could feel a sense of growing connection between us.
An idea suddenly flashed across my mind. I grabbed the bottle of champagne that I had served, ignoring the fact that Lucas was staring, but at the same time taking his gaze off me, when he noticed that I would turn.
I handed over the glass of champagne to him and as his fingers brushed mine, I could sense the spark of electricity that sent thrills across my body.
"Thank you very much." He said with a smile on his face. "The name is Max." He added.
We ignored the presence of everyone, including that of Lucas, while our attention was stuck in each other.
"Amelia," I replied.
He had a sly smirk on his face, after he sipped from his glass of wine.
"So tell me, what will a gorgeous lady like yourself be doing here?" He asked, after he dropped the glass on the table.
"Not too many paying jobs these days." I replied and laughed nervously, trying not to look him in the eye.
"Is that so?" He asked, the sly smirk still on his face. "So you mean to tell me that you are only here as a hostess?" He asked, suspicion underneath his voice.
I cannot blow my cover at this point..
"Yes, that is it."
He didn't say anything for a moment, taking his time to fully observe me
"Between me and you." He began leaning forward, so the rest of the men could not hear our conversation. "I know you are lying."
My heart froze, despite how calm I tried to remain.
"A hostess, whose necklace has the same amount of worth as the average person who lives across the estate I call my home. Certainly, you don't just work as a hostess."
I took a quick glance at my necklace and muttered curses underneath. They had been gifted to me by my colleagues and I had forgotten to take them off.
"Listen..." I began, trying to sound as low as possible. "I am looking for a story." I exposed, making sure no one latched onto our conversation.
"And what type of story are you looking for?" He asked, genuinely intrigued.
I was about to speak, when a towering tall figure of my boss came towards us, his gaze directly on mine with a hint of threat in them.
"I am sorry about her Mr. Max, is she bothering you?" The boss asked.
"Certainly not, as a matter of fact I do enjoy her presence with me." My boss's question had drawn the attention of the rest of the guests towards us.
"You certainly do not know Max." One of the men stated. "He is always the number one ladies man." He added and the rest laughed.
After my boss left the room, I turned to Max, whose gaze was now fully on me and I knew he was waiting for a reply, but I was not in a safe spot to tell him.
"How about we talk about something else that will not bring other attention to us." I suggested.
"That is a great plan...." He responded and his eyes landed on my lips. "I am just wondering how soft they are...." He commented.
I tried to bite my lips, but his eyes darkened with lust.
"Doing that makes you even look hot." He observed.
"We could actually make it a wonderful night between the both of us. What do you think?" I asked, trying to sound as seductive as I could.
"So you are down for it?" He asked.
"Try me.." I responded back, biting my lips even further to increase the lust in his eyes.

After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
Oops, Wrong Girl to Bully
My back hit the desk. Pain exploded through my skull.
"Girls like you don't get to dream about guys like Kai." Bella's breath was hot on my face. "You don't get to write pathetic love letters."
She shoved me again. Harder.
"Maybe if you weren't such a desperate little—"
I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
The door slammed.
I tried to stand. Couldn't. The room was spinning, fading to black.
Someone... please...

"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."

A Lesson in Magic
Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
The Forbidden Throb
Mine changed in the time it took to open a door.
Behind it: my fiancé Nicholas with another woman.
Three months until our wedding. Three seconds to watch it all burn.
I should have run. Should have screamed. Should have done anything except stand there like a fool.
Instead, I heard the devil himself whisper in my ear:
"If you're willing, I could marry you."
Daniel. The brother I was warned about. The one who made Nicholas look like a choir boy.
He leaned against the wall, watching my world implode.
My pulse thundered. "What?"
"You heard me." His eyes burned into mine. "Marry me, Emma."
But as I stared into those magnetic eyes, I realized something terrifying:
I wanted to say yes to him.
Game on.
