Chapter 1
Rachel
The alarm clock rang too early, as always. My body protested with every movement, as if the bed was holding me back, begging me not to leave. But the world outside waits for no one. I finally dragged myself out of bed, ignoring the tiredness that seemed to become a part of me, and prepared myself for another day at the office. Being a secretary wasn't my dream job, but I needed that job, and today, more than ever, it was important to be present.
I arrived at the office with dark circles weighing down my face, and the usual buzz of voices and phones ringing in the background greeted me as I walked through the door. The environment was the same as always: neutral, soulless, just a place where people did what they had to do to pay their bills. I took a deep breath and went straight to my desk. I organized some papers, turned on the computer and got ready to face the day. Like a meaningless routine, I knew that soon someone would come with a new demand, a new task that would add more weight to my already overburdened heart.
As I sorted out the paperwork, trying to put the chaos that was my desk in order, I felt a slight anxiety rise in my chest. There was a tension in the air, something I couldn't identify but that made me uncomfortable. It was then that the intercom rang. It was the cold, emotionless voice of the receptionist calling me to the meeting room. My stomach immediately knotted. Nothing good came from being called to that room without prior notice.
I got up slowly, trying to hide my nervousness. I grabbed a cup of coffee from the pantry, as if the hot, bitter liquid could protect me from what was to come. Steam rose, filling the air with the familiar aroma, but the coffee seemed more bitter than usual. With each step towards the meeting room, my mind raced with possible scenarios. What could it be? A warning? An absurd new task? Or something worse?
When I reached the door, I hesitated for a second, feeling the weight of something inescapable weighing me down. I cautiously opened the door and, to my surprise, found the HR manager sitting at the table, next to a lawyer I had never seen before. My boss, with his stern and arrogant expression, was there too. But it was the HR manager's expression that froze me inside. She was the only one who seemed willing to talk to me, and even though she didn't say a word, her eyes said it all. Something was very wrong.
“Rachel, please sit down,” she said in a voice that tried to be soft but was carried with a weight that made me feel even smaller than I already did.
I sat up slowly, feeling a strange chill run down my spine. The air was thick, and the silence in the room seemed to scream a truth I wasn't ready to hear.
The room was so silent I could hear the sound of my own breathing, every beat of my heart echoing in my head. I kept my eyes fixed on the HR manager, waiting for some sign, a word that would indicate what was coming. She folded her hands on the table, looking at me with an expression that mixed compassion and discomfort, something that made my stomach turn even more.
“Rachel,” she began, her voice soft but carrying a serious tone, “do you know why we asked you to come here today?”
I swallowed hard, trying to hide the nervousness that was growing inside me. Of course I didn't know. If I had known, I would probably be far away from there, avoiding whatever this nightmare was. But there was something about the way she spoke, the way the lawyer on her side was standing stiffly, that made me realize this wasn't just another ordinary meeting.
“No, I don't know what it's about,” I replied, trying to keep my voice steady, even though inside I was shaking. "But I'd like to know."
The HR manager exchanged a quick glance with the lawyer before turning her attention to me. She took a deep breath, as if she were about to tell me news she would rather not share.
“Rachel, you're being accused of harassment,” she said finally, her words falling on me like a ton of bricks.
The world seemed to stop for a second. The word “harassment” echoed in my head, a word I would never in a million years imagine being associated with me. Harassment? How could this be true? My thoughts ran in all directions, trying to understand what this meant, but nothing made sense. This was complete nonsense!
“Harassment?” I repeated, my voice cracking as I tried to comprehend what was happening. “That can’t be true. Who… who is saying this?”
The HR manager kept her gaze fixed on me, without looking away. There was a sadness in her expression, as if she knew this was a serious accusation, but at the same time, she could do nothing but do her job.
“We received an anonymous tip, Rachel,” she explained, as I struggled to remain calm. “The person alleged that you made unwanted advances and created an uncomfortable work environment.”
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My head was spinning, trying to recall every interaction, every conversation I had with someone in the office. How could this be? I would never, ever do something like that. I was the last person anyone could accuse of harassment. I have always maintained my professional distance, I have always respected the limits of everyone around me.
“This is a mistake,” I said, my voice starting to rise as the panic grew.

He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
When I Disappeared, He Regretted It
The moment the screen lit up, my entire world came crashing down.
The woman on the bed was Calista - that girl who grew up with us since we were kids. And that hand caressing her skin was wearing the wedding ring I had personally put on Matteo's finger.
"I've missed you so much..."
"You drive me crazy, baby..."
Those sweet words I knew so well completely destroyed me.
Everyone said we were the perfect couple, but who knew this marriage was built on nothing but lies?
Since he's so good at acting, I guess it's time I gave him a show of my own. I'm going to make sure everyone sees what this "perfect husband" really is...
I Loved You in Silence, You Betrayed Me in French
At my birthday party, my husband whispered to his mistress in French that he missed her. His voice was low, but I heard it all—the black lingerie, the bit about how pregnancy makes you more sensitive. His French clients around us were laughing. He turned and put his arm around me, claiming he was just helping his clients come up with sweet nothings.
He doesn't know I understand every single word. Just like he doesn't know that inside my body, I'm carrying his other surprise. And his mistress—she's pregnant too. Two wombs, one secret.
Confrontation would be too cheap. Tears are worthless. I quietly started cataloging the hidden networks my father left behind, activating the Swiss accounts.
In seven days, Zoey Smith will cease to exist. And what will my husband's reaction be?
Falling for my boyfriend's Navy brother
"What is wrong with me?
Why does being near him make my skin feel too tight, like I’m wearing a sweater two sizes too small?
It’s just newness, I tell myself firmly.

This is Tyler’s family.
I’m not going to let one cold stare undo that.

I hate girls like her.
Entitled.
Delicate.
And still—
Still.
The image of her standing in the doorway, clutching her cardigan tighter around her narrow shoulders, trying to smile through the awkwardness, won’t leave me.
Neither does the memory of Tyler. Leaving her here without a second thought.
I shouldn’t care.
I don’t care.
It’s not my problem if Tyler’s an idiot.
It’s not my business if some spoiled little princess has to walk home in the dark.
I’m not here to rescue anyone.
Especially not her.
Especially not someone like her.
She’s not my problem.
And I’ll make damn sure she never becomes one.
But when my eyes fell on her lips, I wanted her to be mine.

What? No—wait… oh Moon Goddess, no.
Please tell me you're joking, Lex.
But she's not. I can feel her excitement bubbling under my skin, while all I feel is dread.
We turn the corner, and the scent hits me like a punch to the chest—cinnamon and something impossibly warm. My eyes scan the room until they land on him. Tall. Commanding. Beautiful.
And then, just as quickly… he sees me.
His expression twists.
"Fuck no."
He turns—and runs.
My mate sees me and runs.

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
