The Woman in My Marriage
Tori Anne · Ongoing · 30.3k Words
Introduction
Seraphina Ashbourne was born into one of London's most respected old-money families. But when the Ashbourne fortune collapses, all she has left is a powerful name, a talent for painting, and her grandfather's beloved exhibition hall, now days away from auction.
Then billionaire Cillian Laurent offers her a way out.
Three years of marriage.
$300,000 a month.
And the exhibition hall.
No love. No sex. No interference.
Cillian doesn't want Seraphina's heart. He wants the Ashbourne name for his ambitious new project. His heart already belongs to Saskia Moreau, his beautiful blonde childhood friend and one of the world's most sought-after models.
Seraphina expects Saskia to hate her. Instead, Saskia becomes fascinated by her.
She visits Seraphina's studio. Watches her paint. Flirts with her. Finds excuses to be near her.
What begins as harmless attraction soon becomes something neither woman can control. Saskia is falling for her best friend's wife, and she's falling hard.
Seraphina knows she should keep her distance. Saskia is the woman her husband has loved for years, and their marriage has an expiration date. But every stolen glance, every lingering touch, and every moment together makes it harder to remember that their marriage was supposed to be a loveless arrangement.
Cillian thought Saskia love him, he's wrong.
The woman he married for her name may become the one woman his first love can’t live without.
And Seraphina must decide whether saving her family's legacy is worth losing the woman who has become her heart.
Chapter 1
London, England
The chandeliers of the Grosvenor House ballroom scatter light across silk and diamonds like a thousand tiny accusations. Seraphina Ashbourne moves through the crowd still with grace, something she had been ingrained in her mind and body since birth.
Her family, for more than three centuries, the Ashbourne family has been woven into the history of London's aristocracy, their name always has this authority of an old-money family wherever they go.
The Ashbournes rose to prominence in the early eighteenth century through land, diplomacy, and an extraordinary patronage of the arts. Their country estate outside London became a gathering place for politicians, scholars, composers, and painters, while their London residence hosted some of the most influential families of the Georgian and Victorian eras.
Over generations, the family accumulated estates, galleries, private collections, and enough wealth to make their position seemingly untouchable. But their greatest legacy was never their fortune.
It was art.
The Ashbournes became the famous patrons of British and European artists, acquiring paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, and antiquities that eventually formed one of London's most remarkable private collections. In the late nineteenth century, Ashbourne Exhibition Hall was established by Seraphina's great-great-grandfather as a public institution dedicated to emerging artists. Unlike many private galleries of its time, it was intended to make art accessible beyond the aristocracy.
For generations, the Ashbourne name remained synonymous with culture, art collections, and philanthropy. Then the twentieth century changed everything.
Maintaining enormous estates became increasingly expensive. Family members made disastrous investments, properties were sold to cover debts, and portions of the art collection disappeared into private auctions. Each generation preserved the family's reputation by sacrificing another piece of its fortune.
By the time Seraphina Ashbourne inherits the remaining estate, almost nothing of the original wealth remains. The Ashbournes still have invitations to London's most exclusive rooms.
Their surname still commands respect, and their history is still printed in books. But behind the gates, there are unpaid bills. And the crown jewel of their legacy, Ashbourne Exhibition Hall, is facing auction.
Seraphina’s red hair is swept into an elegant twist that leaves a few strands framing her face. The emerald gown she wears once belonged to her grandmother; the fabric still holds the faint scent of old perfume and better years.
People part for her without thinking. The deep emerald silk of her gown catches the chandelier light and throws it back against the pale porcelain of her skin, making the jade green of her eyes seem almost luminous.
Seraphina’s red hair, swept high yet soft at the edges, frames a face that has always drawn the silence, lingering stares of London’s high society. She has never needed diamonds or spectacle; green alone is enough. In every shade of it she becomes something rarer, something the room still wants even while it whispers about everything she has lost.
“Seraphina, darling.” Lady Harrington catches her arm, all pearls and carefully preserved smiles. “You look exquisite. Exactly as an Ashbourne should.”
Seraphina returns the smile with the exact degree of warmth expected. “You’re too kind.”
The older woman leans closer, voice dropping just enough to pretend at confidentiality. “I was so relieved to see you here tonight. After everything… well. One hears things.”
Seraphina keeps her expression serene as Lady Harrington drifts away, already turning to the next cluster of guests. The words follow her like perfume: “after everything.”
She has heard the phrase so many times it has lost its edges. Everyone at these events speaks of the Ashbournes in the past tense while still treating her like the living embodiment of the name.
She accepts a glass of champagne from a passing tray and continues across the floor. The charity gala is for the restoration of some lesser-known Victorian museum, the kind of cause her family once funded without a second thought.
Now the invitation arrives because the organizers still believe the Ashbourne name has some influence, and they’re not wrong. Many still wanted to tie their name to the Ashbourne, even when there’s nothing left to their family but their name.
Conversations hush and restart as she passes. She catches fragments without trying. “…the Hall goes to auction next month, can you imagine?”
“…grandfather would be spinning in his grave…”
“…poor girl still acts as if the money never left…”
Seraphina didn't flinch when she heard it. She has perfected the art of hearing everything and reacting to nothing. Her spine remains straight. Her smile remains soft. Only the faint pressure of her fingers against the champagne flute betrays the tension she refuses to show.
People speak of her in two voices. Behind her back they call her the poor heiress, the last faded remnant of a once-great name, the girl who inherited nothing but debts and a crumbling reputation.
In front of her they smile and praise the elegance of her upbringing, the brilliance of her eye for color, and the way she still carries herself as though the Ashbourne fortune had never vanished. Seraphina listens to both versions with indifference, because she already knows the truth.
What she inherited is debt, the weight of a famous name, and the one gift her grandparents left her that no creditor could seize: an extraordinary sense of art.
She paints amazingly; that makes collectors go quiet. She sculpts when the mood takes her. She writes poetry no one expects from someone who still attends charity galas in borrowed silk. Curators and private collectors still seek her out when a long-lost piece needs authentication or a careful restoration plan.
Those large commissions are what keep the lights on in the last Ashbourne house she still owns in London—not the grand estate that slipped away years ago, but a large, solid townhouse she maintains alone.
The branch family watches that house with open hunger. They circle, they inquire, and they wait. The terms of the old will are clear enough: the property remains hers unless she dies or she doesn't have children.
In the eyes of certain relatives, her being a lesbian is the one detail that keeps her safe all this time. No ambitious cousin has yet decided that removing her would be worth the risk, because the line of inheritance they want requires a husband and an heir she has never shown the slightest interest in providing.
She reaches the far side of the room and pauses beneath a massive oil painting of some long-dead aristocrat who looks vaguely familiar. Probably another distant relative whose portrait once hung in a corridor of the family estate.
Most of those paintings are gone now, sold off one by one to keep the lights on and the creditors at bay. The ones that remain are the ones too damaged or too sentimental to fetch a decent price.

Inked Adonis - Mafia Romance
Of me saying I want to climb him like a tree.
And he just. Texted. Back.
It's the dog's fault, really.
If this untrained Great Dane I'm walking had any manners at all, I never would've ended up here:
With my leash wrapped around the most gorgeous man I've ever seen.
Lucky for me, the guy is a good sport about it.
(Although his joke that “Dogs take after their owners” hits a little too close to home when Rufus starts humping his leg.)
He leaves me with his business card and a smile that makes my knees weak.
I'm still pinching myself as me and the bestie resume our walk.
“Methinks you had a little crush on him,” she accuses.
Not thinking and a little flustered by the whole experience, I reply, “I’d wrap my legs around his waist tighter than that leash.”
THAT'S when she reveals that she'd been recording my response.
THAT'S when she gives me the most devilish grin I've ever seen and says, “You're welcome.”
And THAT'S when she hands me my phone and reveals...
She sent the recording to him.
My heart is in my throat as those three little dots appear…
Then a text.
“PROVE IT.”

Love's Deadly Equation
I was sent to her.
To watch her. To protect her. And, when the order comes… to kill her.
My name is Keegan Caffery. I’m the Carter Mafia’s best hitman. I don’t miss. I don’t fail.
At least, I didn’t use to.
I don’t know what it is about her that got to me first—her mouth, her mind, or the way she looks at me like I’m not what she should fear.
I’ve had a gun to her head since I walked into her life.
She knows it.
And she still doesn’t run.
She just watches me back like she’s studying a problem she refuses to call impossible.
She’s the one variable I can’t control.
And God help me… I don’t want to.
I have an order. I have loyalty. I have a trigger.
But every time I imagine it—
I can’t stand it.
Her or me. That’s the math.
It’s a deadly equation I don’t want to solve.
⬥ Maisie ⬥
I’m not ordinary. I stopped pretending long ago.
My name is Maisie Seo. IQ 145. Clinical genius.
Which sounds impressive until you realize what it actually means: I don’t fit anywhere people expect me to.
I see patterns everywhere. Outcomes before they happen. People like equations I’ve already solved.
It gets lonely in a world you’ve already figured out.
So I dull myself down. Smoke the edges off. Pretend, badly, to be the kind of normal that lets people stay.
Then he walked in.
I knew what he was immediately. Dangerous. Intentional. Wrong in all the right ways.
I should be afraid of him.
I keep waiting for that to kick in.
Instead, I’m fascinated.
Because for the first time in my life… I’ve found something I can’t solve.
He is my deadly equation.
The Lycan Kings and the White Wolf.
Unwanted Mate Of The Lycan Kings
Ripped from her bed and thrown into a world of blood and treachery, Zirah’s fate is sealed, a forced marriage to one of the three Lycan Kings, each more monstrous than the last.
These kings, cursed by their sins, pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, and gluttony are at war, fighting to claim their father’s throne. But the last thing any of them want is a queen.
To them, Zirah is nothing but a pawn, an object to be used, discarded, or destroyed.
But they underestimate her.
If they think she will cower, they are wrong.
If they believe she will bow, they will bleed.
And if they want to break her, they’ll have to survive her first.
MOONLIT CHASE
But no, I had to walk through the park at midnight like an idiot. Now I've seen something I can't unsee—a massive black wolf tearing apart three men, then shifting into the hottest guy I've ever laid eyes on.
Kieran Vaughn. Wealthy lawyer, werewolf, and apparently, he thinks I'm his mate.
Here's the problem: I don't do relationships. I definitely don't do supernatural things. I absolutely don't do rich guys who think they can control my life just because their inner wolf has decided I smell like home.
When hunters start targeting me to get to him, Kieran drags me into his pristine penthouse for "protection." Now I'm living with a man who looks at me like I'm his last meal, whose touch sets my skin on fire, and who's barely holding onto his control.
He says everyone he loves dies. I say that's not my problem except it is because I'm falling for this broken, dangerous man and his beast.
And in his world? Love will get you killed.
