AVA
Tossing my bag on my shoulder, I took a glance at my reflection in the mirror, brushing my fringe-curl with my hand, "I think I look good! "I commend, walking out of the mini-bedroom. Getting outside, I glance around, making sure there’s nothing anywhere that will scare me.
I open my bag, and brought out a pill container. "Ahhh… this ain’t gon’ help! "I hiss out a mutter, making my way to the highway. "Ava…"I hear someone call from afar, and my body shook, fearing the worst. "Ava! "the voice calls again, making me feel agitated. "Not now please, not now! "I fiddle with my fingers, looking down at my bag.
"Ava!! Are you okay? "I gaze up sharply, staggering back in fear. I huff out an irritating scoff, rolling my eyes, as the corner of my lip curl up. "What is the meaning of this? What do you think you’re doing? You really scared me! "I groan out, glaring playfully at him. He’s Dominic, the only friend I have in this neighborhood, and all around the world.
"You’re going for job hunting, again? "he ask, walking side by side with me, as we hold hands like real couple. "Tsk… do I have a choice, I have to, right? In order to live well! "I reply, as a matter-of fact. "Come live with me! I’ll take care of you like my little sister that you are! " he propose, staring at me, as we reach the highway walk-stand.
I tilt my head continuously, like someone having a thought only to give a negative response. "No, I don’t wanna mooch off of anyone! "he tilt his head sideways before nodding. "I kind of understand you, but you’re not mooching off of anyone, baby! You hate hearing this but you’re still a baby! "I gaze up at him sharply, making him quickly look away.
We were both about to cross to the other side when a truck start speeding in from afar, startling everyone. "It’s a fucking red sign on the traffic light! "a passerby snap, stepping backward.
Then, the loud noise of the truck coming in a harsh contact with a car blare out, and just as I’m about to glance sideways, a loud noise erupt from the passersby. "Arrrghhh!!! "
"Don’t look! "Dominic snap, pulling my face closer to himself. His broad arm cover my face up, and my body start shivering. "What happened? "I ask, out of fright. "It’s…"he gulp, embracing me tightly. My arms wrap around his waist, tugging at his shirt.
"Oh my Lord!! Isn’t that Errico? "a voice ask, as the sudden quietness become chaotic again. "Poor souls… they should I’ve just calm down when they saw the truck…"another voice adds.
"Is this 911? This is from the highway, located near the streets… there’s a fatal accident! "I hear Dominic voice says, and he hung up the call afterwards. "Oh my God… what will the two daughters become if they find their father like this? "I slowly glance up at Dominic, and he heave out a loud sigh.
"Is it truly Errico? "I ask, my foot tapping the ground, as my cheeks heat up. He nods slowly, and I pull out of his embrace. "There are Ambulance! "the passersby scream, and Dominic take my hand, as we head to the scene. I halt immediately on seeing Errico between the truck, and a van.
"Oh my God… help the man between the vehicles!! "people rant, as the paramedics gently pull his body out. His whole body is covered in blood, and some of the shattered glasses piercing into his skin. They carry him on the stretcher, wheeling him into the first Ambulance.
"Dominic Distefano, an expertise doctor, and this is Ava Errico, this man’s daughter… we’ll be following you to the hospital! "he introduce, and they nod once before entering, and we follow suit. The paramedics start attending to him with Dominic’s hands holding onto mine.
"Do you have your pills with you? "he ask, staring down at my pale backhand. I can’t even answer as the scene from earlier kept playing in my head. He hijack my purse from me, and took a syringe from the paramedics. He shook my with it continuously till it starts bleeding, and I gasp out loudly.
"She has peripheral neuropathy, and anxiety disorder! "he explain, staring at the paramedics. They nod, and one of them divulge, "Isn’t it risky for her to be here? "Dominic nod, putting two of the pills inside my mouth. He uncap a bottle water for me, and I sip from it before exhaling sharply.
The Ambulance halt, and the door open. We got down from it with the paramedics helping Errico out. We follow behind, and I stager by the entrance on seeing how many people that are being wheeled in by the paramedics. "You’re okay? "Dominic ask, and I nod once before heading in.
"Emergency! Emergency!! Emergency!!! Call in surgeons, Doctor Distefano… your attention is needed in the operation room! "the blaring sound of the megaphone announce, and Dominic squat in front of me. "Don’t leave here, okay? Make sure to remain here, and don’t look back at the entrance. "I nod once, looking down at my fiddling fingers.
"Ava! Dominic, how’s dad? "I glance up, staring at the tall, slender, well-shaped lady walking towards us, with two other ladies behind her. "Liza… stay here with your sister, I’ll make sure to try my best with your father! "Dominic instruct, and Liza nod continuously before Dominic finally leave.
She took her seat beside me, and I shift away from her, staring at the light that just come on above the operation room door. "Is she your little sis? "one of the ladies ask beside Liza, and she nod once, her eyes on me. We remain there for like forever before a group of men in black walk in on us with a blonde-haired cute guy, taking the lead.
"Who… are you if I may ask? "Liza ask, getting on her feet. "My condolence on your father’s death! "that is the only statement that echoes in my ear. Father’s death? Is he talking about Errico? "Oh my Lord! "I gasp, face palming my mouth as a broad smile spread on my lips.
"Wh… what do you mean? "Liza ask, heaving out a sharp exhale. She huff out a scoff, but those men weren’t here for that, I guess. "We are from the Savage Souls! "the blond-haired guy’s voice sound so fucking unreal. "Th- The Savage Souls? "the ladies chorus, getting on their feet too, as they stagger backward.
"In a hand-written signed agreement, Errico Salvador made an oath that says if anything happens to him, and it happens that he couldn’t pay back his debts, we should hold Avalone Errico responsible! "?I huff out a scoff on hearing that. I glance sideways, letting out a dry chuckle before getting on my wobble feet.
Sweats run down my back, as reality hit me hard. "I am Avalone Errico. How much did he owe you? "I find myself asking. My palms become sweaty, and my fingers tremble lightly, as chills run down my spine. "He’s not owing us money, he sold off our boss’s priceless jewel! "I gulp down, heaving out a loud sigh.
"O…kay… so? Can you elaborate? "I inquire, fluttering my lashes, as I took my lower lip in with my head downwards. "Is this really impor-"Liza wants to say something, but was cut off. "This priceless jewel that belongs to our boss is always kept by your late father, he’s the security guard for it. So, in order to be sure for him to keep it safe, he made an oath. It goes by; "he halt, stretching his hand backward, and one of the men pass him a brown envelope.
He open it, then, bring out a sheet, "I, Errico Salvador vow on this day to take care of this with my life, and if it happens that I steal it, and sell it to the enemies or anyone, punish me severely for the rest of my life. If it happens that I can’t be hold responsible or I die, hold one of my daughter, Avalone Errico responsible for life! You have the right to kill her, or keep her alive. "
