Chapter 1
CHAPTER ONE
LEONA
When Fiona told me that the Alpha King had summoned me, I was both elated and terrified.
A week ago, during the mating festival, I was declared Alpha Kane's mate. But instead of accepting me, he rejected me because of my "disability." Being a crippled omega, I wasn't seen as desirable by anyone in the Crestwood Pack, let alone the Alpha King. His rejection turned me into a laughingstock, pushing me to the brink of despair. If not for Fiona's constant presence, I might have given in to darker thoughts.
Now, as I wheeled through the narrow halls of the Christian Castle, whispers followed my every movement. Servants in maid uniforms stared, muttering behind my back. My unease grew with each step, dread coiling tighter in my chest.
Why had Alpha Kane summoned me after all this time? Was he planning to make the final rejection that would sever the mating bond completely?
A magistrate in court robes approached us, his expression neutral. "The King is in his study. Follow me."
The journey to the study felt endless. Fiona gave me a reassuring smile, but I could only manage a feeble response.
"Do everything the King demands, no matter how absurd," the magistrate warned as we stopped in front of the study's grand doors. His sharp tone carried a note of disdain. "And don't meet his eyes unless permitted. He hates defiance."
I nodded numbly, wheeling myself into the study.
The room was breathtaking—floor-to-ceiling shelves stacked with books, their scent mingling with cedar in the air. My fingers trailed across one shelf as my gaze scanned the spines. Out of curiosity, I pulled out a leather-bound volume labeled Shakespeare's Poems.
"Did they not warn you never to touch my things?"
The deep voice startled me, and I dropped the book in shock. Whipping around, I found myself face-to-face with Alpha Kane. His sharp blue eyes pinned me in place, his tousled red hair and unbuttoned white shirt making him look effortlessly commanding.
"Lower your eyes," he ordered.
I tore my gaze away, heat rising to my face. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to—"
"I detest stammering," he snapped. "As if it isn't punishment enough that you're already crippled."
His words were a knife to my chest, reigniting the shame I'd been trying to bury.
"Are you about to cry?" he mocked, his tone sharp.
I clenched the arms of my chair, willing back tears. "I'm not crying."
"Why did you summon me?" I forced out, trying to maintain my composure. "You made it clear you wanted nothing to do with me because of my... disability."
"Yes, I remember my words, Leona."
My stomach fluttered at the sound of my name. Did he remember me because of the bond, or was it something else?
"And they haven't changed," he continued coldly. "But I've decided you could be of use to me. I won't reject you outright if you cooperate."
"What do you want?" I asked cautiously. The blueness in his eyes dimmed, a darker reflection overshadowing that ran sizzles down my body. He raked me over with his eyes before pushing away from the shelf.
"Let's not look towards what I want right now, but on what you want," He walked over, bending to pick up the book I'd thrown to the ground, and I couldn't have been more undone by his scent than I had been right then. "I happened to stumble on the knowing that your disability is something you hope to gain revenge for, upon a certain someone who we happen to share the same dislike for,"
Blood rushed to my ears. What was he talking about? And what did he know about me wanting revenge?
"And I know a little of your backstory, and how you were the creedsmen's finest assassin before you lost your glory...and your legs."
I heaved in a tight breath. How did he know that? Yet, of course, the disgraceful crumble of Haven Lee—which was my pseudonym as a former feared assassin— had been a sparking sensation to the ears of the entire Crestwood, but no one knew what I looked like to spread a rumor about me when I was just a helpless woman with only a sister to care for her or relate me to being Haven Lee, which I wasn't.
Not anymore.
"I think you have it wrong—"
"On the contrary," His sharp tone interrupted my attempt to deflect his inconspicuous interrogation. "I know that underneath this...feeble getup, there's a hardened woman on the inside who shouldn't be deterred by her disability."
"W...what has my past got to do with anything?" I mused, my tone almost a whisper. I couldn't understand where he was driving at with this, and if he wanted to reject me already, then he should without all this beat-up info about myself I'd rather keep buried.
Satisfaction flooded his face as he pushed the book into the space I'd plucked it from, so smooth and meticulous.
"There's only one way I'll accept you as my mate and spare you the disgrace of rejection," he said, his tone casual, but his words held weight. "I want you to infiltrate Zane's territory and kill him. Succeed, and we'll live as mated partners. A win-win."
His request hit me like a blow. My chest tightened as his words sank in.
As part of the Creed's men, we were always warned to avoid Alpha Zane and his territory during raid missions. A ruthless, murdering Lycan, he was rumored to have singlehandedly slaughtered ten of the most hardened Alpha Lords who had formed a coup against him. They said he cut them limb by limb and that demons aided his reign of terror. Alpha Zane was feared across the seven seas.
No one in their right mind stood against him unless they wished for the most terrifying death imaginable.
Once, I'd been foolish enough to ignore the warnings. I'd gone after him, driven by revenge for the devastation he'd caused.
He crushed me, shattering everything I'd worked for. My pride, my honor, my position—and my legs.
Now Alpha Kane wanted me to face him again? To walk into a second death sentence? I'd rather be rejected outright.
"I can't do it," I said, lowering my gaze. "What you're asking of me is a death sentence. If you hate me this much, just reject me."
"I don't hate you, Leona." His voice softened, but I refused to look at him.
My name on his lips might have stirred something in me if his words hadn't been laced with manipulation.
"I want what's best for us and the kingdom," he continued.
"I beg to differ," I said carefully, masking my growing disgust. "No one sends someone to certain death in the name of care. You don't have to pretend—"
"Leona!" His tone sharpened, and the air grew heavy.
He inhaled deeply before speaking again, his voice calmer. "Zane might have despised you as an assassin, but he's more agreeable when he sees a helpless, beautiful woman—especially one with a disability."
The words stung, even as I tried to ignore the small warmth that flickered at being called beautiful.
"He'll recognize me," I stated firmly.
Zane had seen my face that night, unshielded from my mask. He'd taken delight in watching my horror as I bled out. A man like him didn't forget faces like mine.
"He won't," Kane said confidently, sensing my doubt. "Zane Karvill, for all his pride and cruelty, doesn't retain the faces of people he assumes he's killed. It's just another corpse to him."
I didn't bother asking how Kane knew this. As an Alpha King, he had access to information about enemies. But still...
"I'm sorry, Alpha King," I said, keeping my voice steady, though I knew my refusal would change nothing. "I won't risk my life again. I'm not an assassin anymore. I can't do this for you or anyone else."
Silence filled the room, heavy with tension.
"Very well," Kane said at last. He strode to his desk, his sharp blue eyes pinning me as he sat. "You have chosen rejection?"
"I will accept whatever you decide," I replied, my head bowed. "But please, show mercy to my sister. Don't make her an outcast with me."
"Fiona has nothing to do with this," he said, his tone clipped. "Since you've rendered yourself useless to me and the kingdom, I, Alpha Kane of Crestwood, hereby reject you, Leona Elia Kazan, as my mate."
The rejection struck like a blade, slicing through me. Pain shot through my core, sharp and all-consuming, but I bit back a cry.
"I, Leona Elia Kazan," I said quietly, my voice trembling as I met his cold gaze, "accept the Alpha King's rejection."

I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."

Alpha Twins' Mate's broken Human
A Lesson in Magic
Claimed by the Alpha's Love
Four years ago, Fiona's meticulously planned conspiracy turned me from an ordinary omega into a prisoner carrying the weight of a murder charge.
Four years later, I return to a world that has changed beyond recognition.
My best friend Fiona, who is also my stepsister, has become the perfect daughter in my mother's eyes. And my ex-boyfriend, Ethan, is about to hold a high-profile mating ceremony with her.
The love, family bonds, and reputation that I once cherished have all been taken by Fiona.
Just when I had reached my breaking point, questioning the very purpose of my existence, the legendary Alpha Lucas of Moonhaven suddenly appeared in my life.
He is powerful and enigmatic, a figure that all werewolves hold in awe.
Yet, he shows an extraordinary persistence and tenderness towards me.
Is Lucas's appearance a gift from fate, or the start of another conspiracy?
Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
The Forbidden Throb
Mine changed in the time it took to open a door.
Behind it: my fiancé Nicholas with another woman.
Three months until our wedding. Three seconds to watch it all burn.
I should have run. Should have screamed. Should have done anything except stand there like a fool.
Instead, I heard the devil himself whisper in my ear:
"If you're willing, I could marry you."
Daniel. The brother I was warned about. The one who made Nicholas look like a choir boy.
He leaned against the wall, watching my world implode.
My pulse thundered. "What?"
"You heard me." His eyes burned into mine. "Marry me, Emma."
But as I stared into those magnetic eyes, I realized something terrifying:
I wanted to say yes to him.
Game on.
The Biker Alpha Who Became My Second Chance Mate
"You're like a sister to me."
Those were the actual words that broke the camel's back.
Not after what just happened. Not after the hot, breathless, soul-shaking night we spent tangled in each other's arms.
I knew from the beginning that Tristan Hayes was a line I shouldn't cross.
He wasn't just anyone, he was my brother's best friend. The man I spent years secretly wanting.
But that night... we were broken. We had just buried our parents. And the grief was too heavy, too real...so I begged him to touch me.
To make me forget. To fill the silence that death left behind.
And he did. He held me like I was something fragile.
Kissed me like I was the only thing he needed to breathe.
Then left me bleeding with six words that burned deeper than rejection ever could.
So, I ran. Away from everything that cost me pain.
Now, five years later, I'm back.
Fresh from rejecting the mate who abused me. Still carrying the scars of a pup I never got to hold.
And the man waiting for me at the airport isn't my brother.
It's Tristan.
And he's not the guy I left behind.
He's a biker.
An Alpha.
And when he looked at me, I knew there was no where else to run to.
The mafia princess return
Accidentally Crossing the Tycoon
Four years ago, the Bailey family faced a devastating financial crisis.
Just when bankruptcy seemed inevitable, a mysterious benefactor emerged, offering salvation with one condition: a contract marriage.
Rumors swirled about this enigmatic man—whispers claimed he was hideously ugly and too ashamed to show his face, possibly harboring dark, twisted obsessions.
Without hesitation, the Baileys sacrificed me to protect their precious biological daughter, forcing me to take her place as a pawn in this cold, calculated arrangement.
Luckily, in those four years, the mysterious husband never asked to meet in person.
Now, in the final year of our arrangement, the husband I've never met is demanding we meet face to face.
But disaster struck the night before my return—drunk and disoriented, I stumbled into the wrong hotel room and ended up sleeping with the legendary financial mogul, Caspar Thornton.
What the hell am I supposed to do now?
The Biker's Fate
I squeezed my eyes shut.
"Dani," he pressed. "Do you get me?"
"No, Austin, I don't," I admitted as I pulled my robe closed again and sat up. "You confuse me."
He dragged his hands down his face. "Tell me what's on your mind."
I sighed. "You're everything my parents warned me against. You're secretive, but you're also honest. I feel wholly protected by you, but then you scare me more than anyone I've ever known. You're a bad boy, but when I dated a so-called good one, he turned out to be the devil, so, yeah, I don't get you because you're not what I expected. You drive me crazier than anyone I've ever met, but then you make me feel complete. I'm feeling things I don't quite know how to process and that makes me want to run. I don't want to give up something that might be really, really good, but I also don't want to be stupid and fall for a boy just because he's super pretty and makes me come."
