Chapter 1
I woke up from my pleasant sleep by the jarring sound of the door and I groaned in frustration, annoyed that my sleep had been interrupted. I rushed to the door, unfortunately it was my stepmom Maria that was there, Immediately I opened the door and then she gave me a hot slap on the face
“ Ma’am why did you slap me, did I do anything wrong to deserve this” I asked her sobbing
“ You are asking me hun? Why did you take so long to open the door, answer me before I give you another slap on the face you useless girl” she said
“ Have been busy scrubbing the attic you said I should do and after I finished doing that, I slept so tired. The sound of the door woke me up” I sounded so tired
“ Really, you mean I stressed you right? Why can't you just tell me that you can't do it, you are nothing but a fool, just a useless fellow” After saying those words to me, she pushed me out of her way and entered the house
“ So irritating, gosh!” I said to myself and then I heard her calling my name on my way back to the upstairs
“ Jasmine, where do you think you are going? You don't even bother to ask if I have eaten or not, Well. I want you to and get me something to eat now, don't go in there and sleep I mean now be fast with it please” she said
“ Okay Ma but ma..” then she interrupted me
“ Don't ma me please, you want to tell me you are tired right? I know but I don't care what am after I am hungry and I want you to serve me a meal now, so please get out of my side” she shouted
I felt so tired but couldn't resist her actions and went ahead to get something for her to eat.
While in the kitchen busy cooking, Rose came in and spilled on what I was making for My stepmother
“ What! Why could you do this to me? You shouldn't have done it this time I am so tired of making this, why could you” I felt so shocked and sad
“ If you question me the reason why I did this, I promise you I will do more than, this try me”
Rose is a wicked and cunning person, a liar and also can go any length to get whatever she wants, I knew she was here for a reason then I asked “ Just let me know what you want this time please then I will give it to you please, I am not ready for your trouble this time around, you’ve already done this I just have to fix another thing for her but please before I get another good for her please leave” I said
“ What I want from you, you won't understand it now, just wait and watch, and for this, I will go out there and inform Mother you want to poison her,” she said and then turned her back
“ After doing all this, what will you gain after that? I guess nothing so please just let me be, we both know if you go out there and tell her anything she will believe you, not me whether is a lie or not so please don't do such, I am your stepsister for crying out loud, Rose” I was so confused to the extent I don't know what to do again than to plead with her but she didn't accept my apology and went ahead to the living room where Maria my stepmother was sitting
“ Hi, darling, how are you?” Maria said to Rose
“ I am fine but guess what Mother, I was thirsty and decided to go to the kitchen to have some water, when I got there, could you believe what I saw Jasmine doing? I saw her putting something in your food” she said to Maria
She was shocked and immediately she shouted my name “ Jasmine” As I heard her calling me I knew something was about to happen then I rushed to meet her
“ Am here ma’am” As I saw Rose on seat, I knew it had something to do with her
“ I guessed she has lied to Maria, what could she have said to her that made her feel this way” I said to myself and then she came in so loud
“ I heard you want to poison me, thank God My daughter saw you in the process, or you want to deny the fact you didn't do it,” she said and then moved closer to me and gave me a hot beating
“ Ma’am you didn't allow me to explain before you started beating me, I know this is what she will say to you no matter how I explain to you, I know you won't listen. Rose what have I done to deserve all this, I know this is what you want and I hope you are happy” I said and then I got a hit from Maria, she hit me so bad and after I left
I stayed In a corner of the living room, crying and wondering what kind of shitty life I am living “ I am so tired and fed up with all this trouble every time, must it be me all the time” I cried out audible but no one could come to my rescue
Some moments later, I heard a knock at the door and finally found out it was my father, he came in. I noticed he was so glad as he responded to Maria and rose when they greeted him
“ I am here to bring good news to us, I hope you want to hear it,” he asked smiling
“ Oh yes, please speak on,” Rose said with a huge smile on her face, I watched my stepmother and stepsister get excited.
“ Okay, Am so glad to announce to you that we will be inlaws soon with the royal family” As he spoke out, Rose was really excited to hear that thinking it would be her.
“ As I was saying, Where is Jasmine? She will be getting married to the prince in the next few days” I was shocked when my father came to me and smile
I, Maria and Rose yell, “ What!” at the same time
