Chapter 1
Chapter 1: Echoes of Grease
POV: Lina
The smell never really washes off. You can scrub until your skin is raw, but the diner stays with you. It gets into your pores and your hair. I walked home with the stale scent of burnt decaf and old fryer grease clinging to my clothing.
I fumbled with my keys, dropped them on the table, and just stood there in the dark. I didn't even bother to turn on the light.
My feet were throbbing. There was a sharp, rhythmic stabbing behind my left heel that made every step feel like walking on broken glass. I didn't even complain about the pain anymore. It was just a part of my daily life.
I did my usual check of the apartment anyway. It was automatic by now. My eyes scanned the room in the gloom. The screwdriver was still jammed into the window frame. The loose board on the fire escape hadn't been touched. It wasn't anxiety. It was just the only way I knew how to feel safe. Some kids learn to ride bikes, but I learned which floorboards groaned.
The phone buzzed.
It said Unknown, of course. I let it vibrate against the wood three times before I picked it up.
"Yeah."
"Lina Hale." The voice was flat and bored. "You’re late. Again."
"The check is in the mail," I lied. My eyes drifted under the bed, staring at the dark corner where my backpack lived.
"We’re done with checks." I heard a car door slam on his end. It was a heavy, expensive sound. "Five minutes out. Be there or don’t. Honestly, it’s easier for us if you’re cornered."
He hung up. No goodbye, just the click of a dead line.
My hands didn't shake. I hated that about myself. I pulled the bag out from under the bed, opened the old dictionary, and made sure the three hundred bucks was still tucked inside the hollowed-out pages. I grabbed my jacket, zipped it up, and that was it.
I always traveled light. No photos, no keepsakes. My mother’s only legacy was the memory of a beige coat walking away at a bus station. My father was just a blank space on a birth certificate. People talk about freedom like it's a beautiful thing, but they usually say that from the safety of a warm living room. To me, freedom just felt like being cold and alone.
Then I heard it. A low, heavy engine idling on the street below.
I moved to the window and peeled back an inch of the curtain. A black sedan was double-parked. Two guys got out wearing boots and heavy jackets, the kind of clothes people wear when they expect to get dirty. One of them looked up, and for a second, I thought he saw me through the glass.
I didn't wait around.
I avoided the hallway and the elevator because the elevator was a trap. I went straight for the window. The rain hit me hard, thin and cold. The fire escape was slick and rusted. I kept my weight on the balls of my feet, praying the metal wouldn't shriek and give me away.
I was halfway down to the second floor when my front door gave way upstairs. It was a loud, heavy crack of wood splitting.
I dropped the last six feet into the alley. My boots hit the wet pavement with a hard thud. My left knee buckled into a pile of wet garbage, but I scrambled right back up. I knew the gap in the chain-link fence by heart.
"She’s in the alley!" someone yelled.
I didn't look back.
The rain was coming down harder now, blurring the streetlights. My lungs were burning. Years of cheap cigarettes were catching up to me at the absolute worst time. I dodged behind a row of delivery pallets, my heart pounding hard against my ribs.
Every turn I made felt like a trap. I could hear the footsteps behind me, but they weren't getting closer. They were just staying back, keeping pace.
They weren't trying to catch me yet. They were herding me.
They wanted me at the river.
I broke cover and ran onto the boardwalk. The wood was black and slick with rain. To my left, the warehouses were dark and empty. To my right, the river was a fast, black mess. The wind cut right through my jacket. I have always hated the cold. It was a stupid thing to think about when I was running for my life, but the thought wouldn't leave me.
The Old Iron Bridge was about a hundred yards away. If I could reach the shipping containers on the far side, I had a chance.
The sedan got there first.
It swung sideways, tires screeching on the wet wood, blocking the entrance to the bridge. Both doors flew open. Two flashlights cut through the dark, blinding me.
I skidded to a stop.
The third guy was right behind me now, breathing heavily, swinging a length of lead pipe by his side. I looked at the fence, but it was topped with razor wire. I looked at the railing. It was a thirty-foot drop into the water.
They closed in slowly and patiently. They knew the math was on their side.
"End of the road, Lina." The guy in front sounded almost sorry. "Hand over the bag. Come with us, and maybe you walk away."
He was lying. You could hear the hollow ring in his voice.
I looked down at the water. It looked like ink. Then I looked back at the three of them.
There was no way out on foot. Going with them meant ending up in a shallow hole somewhere.
I stepped up onto the railing.
He lunged forward, his fingers brushing my ankle for a split second, but I was already leaning out into the dark

Where I End and She Begins
But when a body lies at Amelia’s feet, and her hands are covered in blood that isn’t hers, one question echoes louder than the rest:
How did it come to this?
As the school year unfolds, cracks begin to show — in friendships, in family, and in Amelia’s own mind. The lines between loyalty and control blur. Between truth and perception. Between who she is… and who she thinks she needs to be.
Because some friendships don’t just shape you.
They consume you.
And when the illusion shatters, there’s always something left behind.

Iron And Glamour Just Don't Mix
Well… Sometimes you just might turn out to be right.
It turns out, the fae stole my little brother. In his place? A pixie with boundary issues and a talent for home repairs.
I’ve spent my life taking care of everyone else. So when my baby brother is taken, I don’t hesitate. I walk straight into a faerie mansion and make a bargain with its infuriatingly charming master.
Kie is everything you’d expect from a dangerous fae, beautiful, political, and entirely too amused by me. Power wrapped in a smirk. Sensual, mischievous, and far too aware of the effect he has on people. He agrees to help me find my brother.
For a price.
Now I’m bound by a faerie bargain and navigating a world of glamour, manipulation, and ancient rules I definitely should have learned sooner, enchanted forests, political games, magical contracts, and a fae lord who treats seduction like a perfectly reasonable negotiation tactic.
Iron is how I keep people out.
Glamour is how he draws them in.
And apparently, they just don’t mix.
Taste of Fate: The Vampire King's Human Mate
He reached for the back of my head and pulled me up just enough to reach my neck. When his fangs slid into me, the pain was instant, electric. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think. My hands found his shoulders, clawing for something to hold. My legs kicked. Tears streamed down my cheeks.
He moaned against my throat as he drank, and the sound was devastating.

An undocumented immigrant in Chicago, she works herself to exhaustion just to stay afloat and protect the only stability she has left—her friend María. But when she loses her job and her visa expires, Milena becomes invisible to the law and vulnerable in ways she never imagined.
Desperate, she steps into a Belinni-owned nightclub, hoping to earn enough to survive another week. One stage. One performance. One decision.
That is all it takes for her to cross paths with Dan Belinni.
He is not a man who lets go.
And she is not a woman who submits.
But beneath survival and violence lies a truth neither of them is ready for—Milena is tied to a mafia legacy she never chose, one that makes her both a target and a claim in a world where women are never just women.
When their worlds collide, obsession replaces restraint, and a single night changes everything.
Because in Dan’s world, love is not given.
It is taken.

I hate girls like her.
Entitled.
Delicate.
And still—
Still.
The image of her standing in the doorway, clutching her cardigan tighter around her narrow shoulders, trying to smile through the awkwardness, won’t leave me.
Neither does the memory of Tyler. Leaving her here without a second thought.
I shouldn’t care.
I don’t care.
It’s not my problem if Tyler’s an idiot.
It’s not my business if some spoiled little princess has to walk home in the dark.

Human Capture (Up North #2)
Raised in a starving settlement choked by a vast, unforgiving forest, Lara learned early that survival has a price. To keep her family alive, she became a master hunter—agile, silent, and deadly with an array of mismatched blades. But the forest has eyes, and one evening, the shadows dragged her away.
Nine months later, Lara breaks free from a concrete dungeon, only to find herself stranded in the lawless, rogue-infested wilds of Avers Land alongside four captured werewolf girls. Seeking refuge in the neighboring territory of Illyen, she expects to find a way back to her human life. Instead, she is brought face-to-face with Alpha Rowan, the terrifying, ruthless ruler of the frozen North.
One look into Lara’s eyes, and the Alpha’s world shatters. His eyes turn an absolute shade of black. The bond is undeniable. She is his fated mate.
But a human cannot survive the brutal political landscape of the North, and Rowan openly rejects the bond, dragging her onto a warship bound for a kingdom that views her as a fragile liability. Trapped between a mate who refuses to love her and a court of monsters waiting for her to break, Lara must use every hunter's instinct she possesses. Because in the realm of wolves, a human must either grow claws of her own—or perish in the snow.
From Substitute To Queen
Heartbroken, Sable discovered Darrell having sex with his ex in their bed, while secretly transferring hundreds of thousands to support that woman.
Even worse was overhearing Darrell laugh to his friends: "She's useful—obedient, doesn't cause trouble, handles housework, and I can fuck her whenever I need relief. She's basically a live-in maid with benefits." He made crude thrusting gestures, sending his friends into laughter.
In despair, Sable left, reclaimed her true identity, and married her childhood neighbor—Lycan King Caelan, nine years her senior and her fated mate. Now Darrell desperately tries to win her back. How will her revenge unfold?
From substitute to queen—her revenge has just begun!
Lethal Web of Mafia's Revenge (Sequal to "Innocent in Mafia's Web)
He was a beast inhabiting this mansion, inflicting inhuman torture on my poor soul. He had created a living hell for me, this pitiful girl, within his castle.
On this cold winter night, he threw my wounded body into the icy pool, arrogantly enjoying it all, drinking and smoking expensive cigars. A satisfied, cold smile played on his lips as he reveled in my pain. His face was filled with the darkness of sin.
“How...more...am I…still…standing?” I stammered, my lips trembling.
Zain paused, thinking. Then, turning away from her, he replied:
“Until you die!”
With that, he left. As he wished. At that moment, my wish came true; I died.
But not in a frozen pool; I was struck in the head by a bullet from afar, blood splattering everywhere—that was far more gruesome.
My consciousness began to fade, but suddenly, I opened my eyes again and found myself mopping the floor in an ordinary restaurant.
I was startled: What happened? I was reborn? This is unbelievable!
