Her so-called to-be-husband left her behind and escaped, and this strange man picked up the ring and slid it into his finger.

Chapter 1
Lysandra~~
A heavy sound came from the doorpost, pulling all the gaze backwards. Standing there was a man, dressed in his black leather jacket, his boot slammed on the floor as he came closer, his eyes burning like a flame.
As he walked, he was gradually pulling away the black gloves that covered his palm. His presence caused a change in the atmosphere and everywhere smelled of leather.
By the side of his trousers were weapons stacked tight and exposed to the sight of everyone.
I glanced at the priestess, my eyes widening in horror as she was doing nothing.
Just when I tried to speak, Jonathan grabbed me by my arms and yanked me to stand before him. I struggled to get out of his grip but he wouldn't let me go.
“What are you doing, Jonathan? You should be protecting me.” I rebuked him but he turned a deaf ear.
His breath was raspy and fast. By the time I managed to see his face, it was pale and drained of blood.
“Jonathan, what…
He dropped the ring he was holding on the floor and took off, taking my right.
I stood there, my lips dropped open, my fingers tightened around the bouquet I was holding while I stared at his running figure as it slowly vanished into thin air.
My chest tightened. What was that? He just dropped the ring and escaped?
I looked straight at my uncle who had that shock all over his face but was also in panic.
The man in leather approached closer. He looked me dead in the eyes and walked opposite me.
I told myself to hold my grip, but nothing was adding up. “Who…who are you? What are you…are you doing here?” I managed to ask him, expecting him to speak.
Today was my wedding day, and he just barged in and interrupted us from taking our marriage vows. He smelled of leather and looked more like a devil from the pit of hell. His braided brown hair made him look like he was destruction itself…and I bet that he was.
He didn't say a thing, not even a ‘hi’. Rather, he bent low and picked up the ring that Jonathan had dropped on the floor. He stared at it and a sinister smile curled his lips.
I was at a loss for words. My blood froze and I went stiff at that point.
The priestess still stood, not doing or saying anything. In fact, everyone was in fear as it was all shown on their faces…but Jonathan escaped.
Did they know each other? And the fuck…he was trying to shield himself with me? What a shameless man my uncle arranged for me to be married to.
I bit my lower lip and looked away, “Please, just drop the ring and leave.” I wasn't myself, I thought I'd take my last breath at that time.
But he grabbed my left hand instead and slid the ring into it…still didn't say a word.
He stretched his left hand and signaled me to do the same.
How would I? What the fuck…
“Be fast!” Those two words that left his lips bore a lot of weight and smelled of danger. Just the look in his eyes showed that he was no good. “Fast!” his voice rose this time and panic surged through me.
My lycan wailed while we were being overwhelmed by his alpha command.
I glanced at my uncle, but he immediately avoided my gaze.
With trembling fingers, I slid the ring onto his finger too. My heart thumped harder in my ears while I waited for what's next.
“Then, I pronounce you two husband and wife, Lycan King and Luna…and with the blessing that comes from the moon goddess.”
Was this priestess being serious? Like, some strange man just barged into my wedding gathering and she blessed us as a couple? Did I hear her say Lycan King and Luna?
I literally prayed that the ground would just open and have me in. If I should blame anyone, it would be my uncle who thought it was left to him to arrange my marriage when his daughter was single.
I gave them cold glances, even though I knew it wouldn't do a thing. They'd made my life hell since my parents passed on…all to the extent of him forcing me to marry Jonathan, which led me into this shit.
My gaze landed on the man before me, and I prayed he could see through my eyes and know that I'm not ready for this.
But he grabbed my hand and we began leaving the gathering.
Everyone stared. No one wished us well. No one clapped. They were all still, waiting for us to vanish so they could breathe properly.
This wasn't the marriage I envisioned.
I stepped out with him and he hopped onto his bike which was surrounded by many more, and the bikers waiting for him.
“Get on!” he growled at me and I didn't hesitate but climbed onto it. “Hold me tighter.”
I obeyed, and even shut my eyes. My tears streaked down my face, and I knew it would ruin my makeup, but I didn't care.
The motorcycle roared aloud like a barking cougar and then he sped off.
I didn't dare to open my eyes. I sobbed silently while the breeze disheveled my hair, until he finally came to a stop.
When I opened my eyes, the environment was somewhat strange. I widened my eyes, staring at the mansion before me, before his voice echoed in my ear, “Get down.”
I quickly grabbed my gown and gently alighted, then he followed.
The other bikers parked behind us, their eyes all over the place.
He glanced back and then signaled me to follow him. As he walked, I trailed behind like someone who'd lost her way and didn't even know myself.
I walked into the heaven on earth mansion and I couldn't help but gasp in shock. So there was really a place like this on this earth?
Several housekeepers scattered all over the place, male and female, bowing as we passed by.
We reached the stairs and a voice from the side made him halt.
“Lycan King!”
Lycan king? Who was the fucking king? So that priestess meant what she said?
He slowly turned and our eyes landed on the young lady at once.
She bowed, licking her lip, “I got everything ready like you ordered.”
He only blinked and turned around, facing the stairs again.
Taking a last glance at the lady, I noticed he was scowling at me. For what? Do I know her?
I hurried and met up with him. And the moment he took me into a certain broad room, decorated and had a lot of expensive things, he said to me, “This is my bedroom…”
My eyes almost popped out. Bedroom? What was I doing here?
“Take a seat,” he ordered and started walking towards his wardrobe.
I kindly sat and kept watching him. He brought out a file in the drawer and threw it at the sofa that I sat on, his silhouette standing erect and firm before me, and his expression emotionless.
I glanced at the file, then back to him, at a loss for words.
What business do I have with him?
“That's a contract,” he mentioned and squatted before me.
I widened my eyes. What do I have to do with a contract?
“Don't worry, the marriage is a contract. In the next six months, I will free you…but under some certain conditions which are written there.” he pointed at the file.
I quickly picked up the file and began going through the document in it.
‘It's indeed a contract. What for?’ I thought, scanning through the paper. I read everything, but I understood nothing.
So, I looked up at him, “What do you mean I will work with you to bring down my uncle? Do you realise what you wrote here? And who said I want revenge on Jonathan? What the fuck is this?”
I didn't realise how loud my voice was, but I was already on my feet. “I'm not doing this shit. I'm an alpha lycan female and I also have a choice.”
“Then what about taking your corpse to your uncle?”
The paper slid through my fingers to the floor. “What?”
“You heard me well, so make your choice.” he knitted his brows and began walking to the door.
I stood there, like my soul had left me, unable to even raise a leg.

I gasped into him, his hand sliding up to cup my jaw, holding me as if afraid I might vanish.
"You drive me insane," he breathed against my mouth, his lips trailing to my throat. "I can't lose you, Ella. Not you."
My head fell back, a soft sound escaping me as his fingers memorized my waist. My anger melted beneath his desperation.
"James..." I whispered, more plea than protest.
His hand caught mine, fingers threading together tightly. "I'll bring him back. I swear it. Just... don't turn away from me. Please."
The word please—low, ragged, almost broken—undid me more than anything else could have.
