Chapter 1
Chapter 1: You Can't Stay Here
Abigail
“I am sorry, mother. It was a mistake!” I cried, hoping this was all a nightmare and that the past few months didn't happen and this was all a sick joke.
“Don't ever refer to me as your mother again, I will not let some whore of a daughter stay in my house any longer.” She growled, tightening her hold on my wrist and pulling me even harder when I tried planting my heels on the wooden floor to slow her down, making me cry out in pain as my father silently watched from the living room.
“Father, please, I am begging you…” I was cut off by my mother throwing me onto the floor beside the entrance door and throwing my bag filled with clothes at my head.
“You and your bastard child are forbidden from entering this home again and don't bother calling or ever coming back!”
“Why would you say that, mother? This is your grandchild!” I yelled, standing up with more tears streaming down my face and looking at my father for some help. Maybe even some comfort but I was disappointed to find him staring into my eyes with a cold expression.
“Father, please. I can't abort my unborn child.” I gasped as my head snapped to the side and a stinging sensation spread across my cheek.
My hand came up to cool it and I looked back at my mother who had no regrets on her face, only hatred. This can't be happening.
“That thing in your womb is not and will never be my grandchild. You have humiliated our family and need to leave. Get the hell out of this house!” My father yelled and my shoulders slumped.
“You are a disgrace, Abigail. I had a perfect life all planned for you, you were supposed to be the bride to the heir of Valerez family and we are in huge debt all because of you. I disowned you, get the hell out of my house before I kill and that thing in your stomach!”
I gave up, picking up my bag from the ground and took one last look at both my parents before walking away. After spending thirty minutes, walking around the streets, clearing my head and trying to think what I was going to do. I decided to call my boyfriend, Caden, who is also the father of this baby and tell him the good news. He will help me, he told me he loves and I am sure he will take full responsibility for me and our unborn child.
“Hello?” He said as he picked up the call.
“Hey, darling?”
Darling? What the fuck, why did I call him that? Came down Abigail.
“Abigail? Are you okay? Why are you calling me from a random number?”
“Caden, my parents kicked me out of the house, I need a place to stay.” I told him.
“What happened? I can't let you stay here.” He replied.
“Why not? I need your help, babe. Please, I..I have news.”
Come, just spit it out already.
“What is it?” He asked.
At this point, he sounded impatient, as if he was completely uninterested in this situation, like he didn't even hear me say I was kicked out by my parents.
“I..I am pregnant for you, Caden.” I finally split it out and the line went silent. I waited a couple of seconds, which turned to minutes.
“Caden? Are you okay? Listen, I am at the payphone that is at the end of my street, please just come and pick me up so we can…”
“No, Abigail. I can't do this.” He cut me off.
“Caden, please.” Tears were starting to fill up my eyes again. He can't do this to me.
“I need you, please, I am begging you. Don't leave me to do this by myself.”
“Listen to me, my parents will never let you stay with us, they never liked you let alone allowed you to ruin my life with this child. You need to do this by yourself, I am sorry.” There wasn't a drop of guilt in his voice.
My heart felt like it had been taken out of my chest and stomped on as I took in what he was saying. His parents never liked me, my family wasn't rich enough for them and they claimed I was distracting Caden from fulfilling his future which was to take over the family business. I couldn't believe this, I gave him all of me, all of my love and my attention was devoted to him. Almost two years together, he took all of that and shattered it into pieces. You can't blame him, don't ruin his life, Abigail.
“I have to go now, this year was nice, Abigail but not enough to make me drop everything and devote myself to you. I can send you money for an abortion but I want nothing to do with you or this child.” He vomited and then the line went dead.
As I took in what had happened today, what my mother said and how disgraceful my father was to me and then Caden disregarding his child with those insensitive words, my mind and body went numb. My child and I are alone now. It hadn't even been born yet and was already considered a stranger by the people who were supposed to show it nothing but love. We were going to get through this, its deadbeat father and idiot grandparents had the heart to turn us away with no hesitation. This is my child and I will give it nothing but love and care. We will be happy together alone.
I dropped another token into the payphone and called the one person who I knew wouldn't leave me hanging like this.
“Hello?” She said as she picked up the call.
“Sonia?”
Six months later
I gasped and cried as my back started tensing once again with another contraction.
'Shit, you are killing me, please come out already.’ Just then Sonia walked in with some ice chips and a spoon.
“Here, this should cool you down a little.” She said, giving me a few spoonfuls and I already felt better.
“You are doing great, babes. Just take deep breaths and before you know it, your little princess is going to be in your arms.” She smiled.
When my family abandoned me and my boyfriend left me helpless on the street, I called my best friend, Sonia who I have known since grade school. She graduated last year and moved out on her own after saving money from her job.So she took me in with no hesitation.

Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

And then, just as quickly… he sees me.
His expression twists.
"Fuck no."
He turns—and runs.
