Chapter 1
CALISTRA'S POV
I woke up with a splash of cold water hitting my face. My eyes flew open, and I sat up quickly, gasping for air. The wooden floor beneath me was hard and freezing.
A woman stood in front of me, looking at me like I was something disgusting.
For a moment, I couldn’t understand what was happening.
Where am I?
What is this place?
And why am I lying on the floor?
I looked at my hands and froze.
These weren’t my hands.
I quickly touched my face, then my hair, my neck, and my body.
This isn’t my body.
“What….?” I whispered.
I looked around the small room in confusion.
“Where am I?”
The woman looked at me like I had suddenly lost my mind.
"Zara!"
The woman snapped, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I looked at her.
“Zara?”
Was that my name?”
No.
That wasn’t my name.
“My name is Calistra.” I muttered, more to myself than to her.
“What are you mumbling about?”
She asked as she stepped closer.
"Do you plan to sleep all day? Everyone in the pack is busy cleaning up after the wedding, and you're here lying around like the useless dog you are."
I stared at her.
"The wedding?"
What wedding?
What pack?
Why was she talking to me like she knew me?
"Wait..."
I swallowed hard.
"Who is Zara?"
The woman's face twisted with anger.
"You are!"
She pointed at me.
"You really are stupid."
I stared at her in disbelief.
"Me?"
"Get up, bitch!"
She shouted, grabbing my arm roughly.
"Get up!"
Her fingers dug into my skin, making me wince.
She yanked me to my feet, and I felt dizzy.
"Wait! Stop!"
I tried pulling my arm away.
"What are you doing to me?"
Before I could say anything else, she grabbed my ear and twisted it hard.
I cried out.
"Ow! Stop! You're hurting me!"
"Shut up!"
She squeezed harder.
"You're nothing but trash."
Tears filled my eyes from the pain.
"Please, let go!"
"If you try to slack off again, I'll make your life even worse than it already is."
Her eyes burned with anger.
"Now listen. Go clean Alpha Rafael's room. If I come back and it's not done, I'll throw you in the cage with the dogs. Got it?"
"Rafael?"
The name made me pause.
"Who is Rafael?"
The woman looked at me like I had just asked the most ridiculous question in the world.
"Are you pretending to be stupid now?"
She finally let go of my ear.
I held my ear, which felt like it was on fire. Confusion still clouded my mind.
I looked around the tiny room just a small bed and a wooden box in the corner.
Then it hit me. Memories flooded in. The girl whose body I now had... she had suffered so much.
Everyone in her pack treated her like dirt. And their cruelty eventually drove her to take her own life.
My name is Calistra, the creator of all werewolves. I had angrily bound myself to an Alpha’s son due to his lifestyle, arrogance and disrespect to me.
As punishment, I was sent to earth and stripped of my powers. I didn't expect to end up in the body of an omega who was hated by everyone.
I looked down at my new body weak, thin, fragile and highly malnourished.
I sighed deeply. If I had known things would turn out this way, I might have made a different choice.
But it's too late now. My first goal is to help this poor girl find peace.
It won't be easy without my powers, especially in this weak body. But I have to try.
And next... I'll find my useless mate. The one who started all of this.
I left the room with a new sense of determination.
Thankfully, I recall everything from Zara's life, so I could easily find my way around the pack, and locating Rafael's room wasn't difficult.
As soon as I stepped inside, I wrinkled my nose in disgust. The air in the room smelt so bad with the stench of alcohol and cigarette.
I rushed to the window, pulling back the curtains and opening it wide. Sunlight came in, and fresh air slowly removed the awful smell.
I turned around to take in the room properly. Clothes were scattered across the floor, empty bottles lying on the floor, and the bed looked like it hadn't been made in days.
I stared at the mess.
"Seriously?"
I placed my hands on my waist.
"This is where the great Alpha's son lives?"
I shook my head.
"No wonder Zara hated coming here."
I took a deep breath.
"This man is worse than I remembered."
I began cleaning.
I picked up the clothes from the floor and put them into the laundry basket.
Then I spotted something.
A woman's underwear.
I froze.
My face twisted in disgust.
"Absolutely not."
I looked around.
"Why is this even on the floor?"
I refused to touch it.
Instead, I grabbed an empty bottle and used it to pick up the underwear.
"There."
I dropped it into the trash bag.
"That's where it belongs."
I saw a couple more pieces of women's clothing while cleaning and threw those away too.
"This useless Alpha's son..."
I muttered under my breath.
"How many women does he bring into this room?"
I picked up another bottle.
"And he expects someone else to clean up after him?"
I shook my head.
"Unbelievable."
It took me a few hours to tidy up the entire room.
By the time I was done, my entire body was exhausted.
My stomach growled loudly.
I looked down at it.
"Are you serious?"
It growled again.
"Fine. I know you're hungry."
I sighed.
"But I'm too tired to deal with you right now."
I looked at the bed.
The tiny bed in my room was nothing compared to this one.
I hesitated.
"Can I really sleep here?"
I shrugged.
"Nobody is here to stop me."
I climbed onto the bed.
The moment my head hit the pillow, I felt my exhaustion slowly taking over.
"Just for a few minutes..."
I closed my eyes.
"I'll get up soon."
And within seconds, I was asleep.
I had no idea how long I'd slept, but when I opened my eyes, a man was staring at me. his face way too close.
I screamed and slapped him hard across the cheek, then jumped off the bed in a panic.
"What the hell are you doing!?" I shouted.
He blinked, stunned, then said.
"Shouldn't I be..."
His voice trailed off. For a moment, he just stared at me. The anger in his eyes faded, replaced by something I couldn't quite understand. His gaze darkened as he took a slow breath.
Then he said it.
"Mate!"
My eyes widened in shock. He's Rafael! How could I have forgotten his face? I mentally facepalmed myself.
"How can I be mated to you?" Rafael said, his face twisted in disgust.
"A slave? An omega?"
I scoffed at his reaction. What's so terrible about being mated to an omega?
Not that I care what he thinks. Binding us together cost me everything, and I'm not letting him off the hook.
A slow smirk appeared on my lips. Taming this man who claims even the moon goddess couldn't tame him might actually be so much fun.
"Welcome to hell, my useless mate."

Love's Deadly Equation
I was sent to her.
To watch her. To protect her. And, when the order comes… to kill her.
My name is Keegan Caffery. I’m the Carter Mafia’s best hitman. I don’t miss. I don’t fail.
At least, I didn’t use to.
I don’t know what it is about her that got to me first—her mouth, her mind, or the way she looks at me like I’m not what she should fear.
I’ve had a gun to her head since I walked into her life.
She knows it.
And she still doesn’t run.
She just watches me back like she’s studying a problem she refuses to call impossible.
She’s the one variable I can’t control.
And God help me… I don’t want to.
I have an order. I have loyalty. I have a trigger.
But every time I imagine it—
I can’t stand it.
Her or me. That’s the math.
It’s a deadly equation I don’t want to solve.

It gets lonely in a world you’ve already figured out.
So I dull myself down. Smoke the edges off. Pretend, badly, to be the kind of normal that lets people stay.
Then he walked in.
I knew what he was immediately. Dangerous. Intentional. Wrong in all the right ways.
I should be afraid of him.
I keep waiting for that to kick in.
Instead, I’m fascinated.
Because for the first time in my life… I’ve found something I can’t solve.
He is my deadly equation.
