Chapter 1
Aurora’s POV
I was yours from the day you flashed a smile at me.
I can recognize your touch, your voice from anywhere.
I want to get lost in you, feel you, and meld myself in you.
Your every inch of existence is heaven for me, and my craving for you is just like the thirsty man in the Sahara.
Aching for your essence of love, I feel myself going weak in the knees and falling apart.
But I want to fall in your arms and let go of all the unkempt feelings.
Wanting to hear my name from your lips, I yearn for your presence and your love.
Exploring the depths of each other, I forever want to be known as yours…
“Aurora!! Aurora!” came the shrill voice of my teacher, Ms. Nancy, who was teaching us biology.
I looked at her, and she finally seemed satisfied seeing me looking bored. She began telling everybody about how everyone should be paying attention to studies and whatnot. I rolled my eyes and looked out of the window.
Don’t get me wrong, I am good at studies and I usually love self-studying. I sighed, looking at the poem I had just written for Christian.
Christian… that one name that has taken away the peace of my mind and my heart too.
I have also started daydreaming about him now. I have never felt so attracted to any boy, but he just astounds me. Whenever I see him, I feel the blood rushing in my veins and my knees going weak.
Gosh! This is so weird and so unlike me.
I first met him—well, not actually met him—but the first time I saw him…
It was on a rainy day when I was practicing my umbrella spell. Well, it’s not actually called an umbrella spell, but it works like an umbrella.
So I saw Christian shouting at Kira, his sister. He looked angry, but there was also love in his eyes. Those eyes kept changing colors due to his wolf trying to take control of him.
I forgot everything, and like a fool I kept watching him, myself getting drenched in the rain, but I kept watching him.
His biceps bulged when he pushed his unruly hair away from his forehead, and he looked frustrated. He looked so hot. He was wearing a button-down shirt with the top three buttons undone, revealing his toned chest and the sleeves rolled up.
It was a sight to behold.
Finally, he dragged Kira away and into his car and went away.
He did go from my eyesight, but he also took my heart with him. I was—and still am—mesmerized by the Alpha King of werewolves, Christian Black.
Not only was he my enemy, but I also realized that he is my soulmate.
Witches usually don’t find their soulmates and are forced to form contracts to give birth to the next generation, as our procreation is dependent upon soul bonds. But here I had found my soulmate at such an early age.
But what was the use?
Christian and me?
It’s impossible… totally impossible.
This sudden realization made me cry, and I rushed home straight to my bedroom, where I cried my eyes out.
I couldn’t be this unlucky…
Now you must be confused, right? If I am his soulmate, that means I am his wolf’s mate and he should have found me by now, as I was very close then.
And believe me, from that fateful day onwards I have been stalking him crazily.
Werewolves can only sense their mate after they turn 21, and Christian’s 21st birthday is in just a few days. I can only remain hidden till then. Once he finds out that a witch is his mate, I am likely to be rejected.
I can’t face the rejection, and I am afraid I won’t be able to handle it.
Rejection isn’t just about not accepting your mate. It’s that heart-wrenching pain that causes the bond between two souls to break, and that causes too much mental and physical pain.
Moreover, werewolves are all blessed with mates. Rarely does a wolf not meet his mate.
But in our case, witches rarely find their soulmates.
Witches that do find their soulmates are considered lucky, as mating with your true mate will give you immense pleasure. The powers will grow, it’s easier to conceive, and the babies born will also be very powerful.
Whereas witches who don’t find their soulmates form normal bonds with their partners, and sometimes some even sign a contract just for a baby’s sake.
Well, I cannot be considered lucky or unlucky.
I have found my soulmate. He is nice and strong, but the only problem is that we are enemies and it’s doubtful that he will accept me. Moreover, I have never heard about interspecies mates.
Back to the class.
Finally, the class is over.
I rush out of the classroom towards the car parking and hide behind one of the cars. I am waiting for Christian to come. He usually comes out at this time and rushes off in his car.
This is the only time I can sneak a peek at him.
I wait for him for about an hour, but I still haven’t seen him.
And then I finally see him.
He is there wearing a casual T-shirt and denim jeans.
But wait… there’s a girl clinging to his arm.
Oh shit.
That’s Bailey.
The college’s number one beauty.
Well, in my opinion, she is fake—from her face, her tits, her ass, her makeup, and her attitude.
She then kisses Christian on his cheek, smiles suggestively, and winks at him. She looks so sultry doing such things.
Nevertheless, thank Goddess.
Christian is saved by a phone call. He picks it up, makes some action with his hand that I cannot see, and walks towards his car and drives off.
Seeing this whole scene, I walk away from there towards the waterfalls.
It’s the most difficult terrain in the whole area, and usually no one comes up here. It has become my secret spot since I fell for Christian.
I climb down the waterfall to the hollow cave that sits right in the middle of the waterfall. I discovered this cave when I was searching the area for magical disturbances and checking if the territory had any claims.
I reach the cave, remove my shoes and denim jacket, and let my hair free from the bun. It falls down to my waist.
Now feeling comfortable, I walk inside the cave and sit on the rock near the lake, immersing my feet in the cool water.
Yeah, there is a small lake in here.
This place is my personal heaven.
I make a small butterfly with some magic.
“Dear butterfly, you have to reach my mom and tell her I am safe, and I will be home very late today. In addition, I am not doing anything mischievous; I just need some time alone. Okay? Now go! Don’t disappoint me.”
Letting it go, I feel my stress evaporating.
My mom, I do not know why, but she keeps worrying for me all the time. After letting her know about my whereabouts, she feels less worried.
I give myself a nice wash and cleanse properly. I swim around in the lake when I hear light footsteps.
They are actually not audible, but I am extra vigilant when I am out on my own. Hence I have put a security charm around here and also hidden my scent.
I hold my breath and am about to hide when I hear a voice.
“No use in hiding. I already saw your stuff near the entrance of the cave.”
This voice…
I had my back to him, clutching my hands to my chest as I tried to stop my racing heart. Gathering some courage I didn’t know I had, I turned around.
And there he was.
The man who had created havoc in my life since the day I laid my eyes on him.
“I am surprised. You being a human—how did you manage to come up over here and into this cave?” he said while making himself comfortable in the corner.
But did I tell you?
He was half-naked.
Only in his shorts.
And he expects me to answer him.
“Ye… yeah… um, well… I… I come here many times. I am used to the terrain.”
There. I said it.
He looks at me with a faint smile and does not say anything else.
He is so damn hot.
But wait.
I can’t just stand here and feel awkward. He is enjoying himself and not feeling any awkwardness, so why must I be shy?
I should enjoy it too.
I try ignoring him and resume swimming, but after a few minutes of trying I give up. I quietly get out of the water, my clothes clinging to me and showing off my body.
Oh come on. I had not planned to do this. It was going to be my alone time, but look what I have got on my plate now.
I bring my backpack and secretly, using my magic, get a towel and a comb.
“Are you in college too? I guess I have seen you somewhere in college,” he says, frowning slightly and gesturing for me to sit near him.
Butterflies perform a flying dance in my belly.
I try to keep my blush at bay and stop my quivering body from reacting. I sit near him, but not too near, maintaining a careful one-arm distance between us.
I feel my shy self coming out.
But I have already decided that I won’t show my fear. Wolves can sense fear easily, so I am trying my level best not to show it to him.
We fall into normal chatter, talking about random things—likes, dislikes, and whatnot.
I don’t know why the Alpha King would have some leisure time to talk to me, but I am committing these moments to my memory.
What if I don’t get this chance in the future?
I start relaxing around him, and soon we are laughing and teasing.
But at the back of my mind, I am still thinking about the future.
How this behavior is going to change when he realizes that I am a witch and his one and only true mate.
I was so engrossed in these thoughts that I did not realize Christian was almost a breath away from me.
When did he move so close?
Suddenly I am wrapped in a tight hug.
I am caught off guard, and I grip his bulging biceps. Gulping in fear, confusion, and excitement, I look into his eyes.
Those baby blues that have been keeping me awake at night.
He changes our position.
I am now in his lap, his arms around me, his thighs below mine, his lips hovering over mine.
And I feel all my strength leaving my body.
I know this is the mate bond that’s making Christian crazy. Even though he can’t feel the full force of the mate bond or even recognize his mate, his soul knows who I am.
“Aurora,” he breathes my name in a whisper.
It was so hot and sexy.
Suddenly he presses me down on the rock, still gentle, looking into my eyes with an intense stare.
“I don’t know why I feel so attracted to you or why I feel this deep connection with you. But something in your eyes tells me you are scared of me for some reason. And I feel this urge to protect you from all dangers.
My wolf wants to eat you up—not in the literal sense… in a naughty way.
I have never felt this for any other girl.
What are you doing to me?”
The last part is almost a whisper.
And then he kisses me.
A full passionate kiss that makes my toes curl.
The only thought in my mind was one thing.
Christian was kissing me.
Oh Christian…
I wish I could answer all your questions.
But I know the truth.
You will run away from me the moment you learn who I really am.

Well… Sometimes you just might turn out to be right.
It turns out, the fae stole my little brother. In his place? A pixie with boundary issues and a talent for home repairs.
I’ve spent my life taking care of everyone else. So when my baby brother is taken, I don’t hesitate. I walk straight into a faerie mansion and make a bargain with its infuriatingly charming master.

For a price.
Now I’m bound by a faerie bargain and navigating a world of glamour, manipulation, and ancient rules I definitely should have learned sooner, enchanted forests, political games, magical contracts, and a fae lord who treats seduction like a perfectly reasonable negotiation tactic.
Iron is how I keep people out.
Glamour is how he draws them in.
And apparently, they just don’t mix.
Taste of Fate: The Vampire King's Human Mate

He moaned against my throat as he drank, and the sound was devastating.

Her family looked down on him, and even she herself said coldly: “You’re not worthy of being my husband.”
Everyone thought this newly released good-for-nothing was just a poor fool who’d taken the fall for his brother.
Thorne said nothing.
He merely raised his hand, gently pressing his bride’s forehead.
In an instant, the chaos in her eyes faded. Holy light surged from beneath the church, shooting into the sky.
The world’s only candidate for the Saintess, blessed with holy power, slowly opened her clear eyes before him.
