Introduction
Chapter 1
Luis Point of View
Hearing my mom's tone was like hearing an alarm. Nothing could wake me faster from a dream than her voice.
I turned to respond when I realized I wasn't alone. I hoped that by the time I got up, Carlos would have gotten rid of the young women we looked for at the club the night before.
Turning, I nudged the girl and sat down with the phone in my hand, but my mother had already hung up. As I prepared to call her, she buzzed a text message on her cell phone and two words appeared on the screen that set me in motion.
Don't fuck around!
I got up and ran down the hallway to Carlos's room, hoping that my best friend and soul brother would act quickly.
I opened the door and walked in, before noticing his face or the redhead who was leaning back and riding her crotch. She covered her breasts, but continued rocking on him, while I stopped dead.
" She is coming! "Those words set Carlos in motion and he grunted as he lifted her up.
"The party is over, Williams. It's time to go.
"But you haven't even come," he whimpered in protest and dragged her buttocks to the living room, where her friend was, who had arrived alarmed by the commotion.
Carlos was dressing while he ran around the room, next to me, like two soldiers preparing for inspection.
The girls headed towards the door and the redhead turned to look at me, from across the room.
"Call me," she asked with a smile.
I shook my head in response and led them towards the door so they could finish leaving, but it didn't help that we were in such a hurry because when they opened it, they ran into my mom.
"If this kind of behavior continues, I will have you both move back to the main house. You're not a child anymore, Luis. She looked at Carlos who was buttoning his shirt.
I was carrying in my hand the same T"shirt I had worn the night before. I looked at it and saw that it was wrinkled, plus I wasn't sure I hadn't used it to clean myself when I came. I checked it better to see if it was dirty and realized that my sexy waitress had the stain on hers. Goodness.
"You're not a little boy either, Carlos. "My mother scolded my friend and then came back to me.
Being her son, she knew that he would receive most of the anger, with his respective opinions and the greatest expectations.
"We just went to the club and met some ladies." I defended my right to go out with women, like so many other times in my life.
"Those strippers weren't ladies," she barked.
"They were innkeepers," Carlos intervened as if that helped.
She shook her head.
"I have allowed you to act like a scoundrel since your father's death, because I know it is a way to release emotions; But the time has come to settle down, and preferably with someone who doesn't have a name tag on her.
"God forbid that I end up with someone below my position and income. As if the world were full of billionaires. "I always despised my friends.
"I'm not going to sit by while one of those vulgar bitches comes up to you for your money." You meet a lot of good girls, from rich families, who are not gold diggers or want to suckle on the Williams family's breast.
Carlos laughed at the word and I elbowed him.
"Sorry, I didn't know there was a tit," he murmured.
I shook my head as my mother talked about how things were going to change.
"I have decided to organize another gala. It's been a while and I'd like to focus on the younger generation, so I'll send out invitations accordingly.
I felt my blood boil.
Gabriela was known for organizing great events before my father died. They were normally advertised in the press and she helped him find a new lover, which is what had happened over the years. She knew what she was talking about, but it didn't seem like the right time and, above all, she considered it a waste of money. She didn't need me to use me as an excuse to do her usual fishing.
"Do you consider it appropriate to hold a luxury event? It hasn't even been two full years since my father died. Don't you think you could give it more time? "I kept my tone calm, but she didn't.
"You dare talk to me about what's appropriate, when you've been bringing in women like this is a boarding house with a revolving door?" I will decide what is appropriate.
I narrowed my eyes at her and when I looked at her I met hers, just as fierce.
"You've always done it, Gabriela. " Calling her by her first name, instead of using an affectionate or maternal name, was like throwing ice water in her face.
She stood in front of me and straightened her shoulders.
"I will do the gala," she asserted forcefully. I suggest that you take advantage of the event to find a good girl and, above all, that you change your habits before you get a trash waitress pregnant and tarnish the family name.
"I don't know, Gabriela. Your dirty reputation didn't ruin it.
Carlos stiffened next to me and my mother's shoulders dropped, although he held his head high. He had had a difficult life and spent his teenage years rebelling against a despotic mother, only to make his way into the music business as a producer.
"I want the best for you. I had to make a living without help from anyone. However, you have a chance, don't ignore it.
She turned and stormed away, her heels clicking on the ground as if he were a soldier.
"Wow, it was brutal, don't you think? " Carlos warned, giving me to understand that he had passed me by to Gabriela.
He believed my friend would be proud, since he was the master of insults and he wasn't impressed with anything, but he had a soft spot for my mother. She took him in when he was a child and his father died in a plane crash, along with the rest of his band. He had never met her mother and Gabriela had filled that role to the point of earning her respect.
"You are always on her side. "I turned around and went to the couch where I sat, putting my head in my hands and my elbows resting on my knees.
"It's a party. Even you know that galas always attract the ladies and this one is for you. Hey, we can convince her to organize one of those dress"up things, you hire someone to impersonate you and you can leave without anyone finding out about her. "He poured himself a drink from the bar, while I sat up straight.
"It's not a bad idea. If everyone wears masks, you won't know who I've invited.
He downed her drink in one gulp and stood in front of me.
" Just joking”. Those parties are every teenager's wet dream; fairy tales, magic and the perfect excuse to show off a steamy dress. It's enough of a hassle having to wear a tuxedo to put up with everything else.
"Yes, but we will do it anyway. With Gabriela determined that I meet the girl of my dreams, I'd like the guest list to be more than just rich bitches and snotty boys with trust funds. I want to meet a real girl, one who is not spoiled by wealth, who has a simple life with normal hobbies and a job. You know, with a brain.
Carlos laughed.
"Good luck with that, okay. You know your mother will send the official invitations. No one will be able to enter without one”.
He was right. She always took special care to ensure that the guest list was as select as possible.
"That's why you're going to help me send duplicates of ours. We will get the same company to print extra invitations and we will distribute them throughout the city. Everyone will bring a companion and we will be sure to tell them to come with a friend.
"Gabriela is going to kill you when she smells them at the event. She can smell the cheap perfume from a mile away.
"That's because she grew up using it.” The only reason she doesn't want him to end up with someone real, whose parents aren't in our social class, is because she's afraid the girl will remind to her youth.
"Are you serious?” Surely there is a girl with money and enough brains to have a hobby, in addition to being lustful in bed and being able to make your mother happy.
"We've been through all that more times and I haven't met her. I have to try. So are you with me or not? Who knows, you might find a good girl too. "I smiled mischievously, but he shook his head.
"A good girl," he repeated. I don't care if she is a rich bitch or not, I want one with big tits who will let me fuck her buttocks whenever I feel like it and if they are two of the same, the better.
"Your twin fantasy is outdated, but I'm sure you'd like the Red sisters to be on the guest list."
Carlos had been infatuated with them for six months, when he hooked up with Mariel, the weirder of the two. He didn't know what he had done to her, but he had caught her attention and since then he seemed obsessed with seeing her.
"Even if they don't come, I'm going to chase the others with you”.
He leaned forward, extended his hand, and I shook it with mine. If I succeeded, this gala would be my last and I would show my mother that she couldn't control me. My life was mine.

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

"Maybe if you weren't such a desperate little—"
I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
