Chapter 1

A cursed land, as everyone said, was an old swamp, in the middle of a Louisiana swamp, where many properties that were old farms were abandoned, and it was an old place, of traditional families, farmers, whose legends said that they had wizards, witches, disappeared creatures, among several generations of Indian cemeteries.

In the most populated city lived the politicians, a city of high standard for high society, as well as mobsters and criminals.

In the past, before rumors and urban legends said that those who lived in these swamps were witches and wizards, some slaves who ran away and sought revenge against their tormentors, the mobsters sought out these witches and wizards who lived in the swamps.

To this day there are few of them, isolated, who are still sought after to deal with matters that humans cannot solve.

In which for several years, those swamps and swamps between mud and quicksand, in the middle of swamps and the deep waters that cut through the swamp, that lived between alligators and that place, which was used until illegal dumping in the swamp, eliminate skeleton files that were found.

Wizards, witches are heirs who have sold a good part of the properties to the same mobsters and politicians, but continue their business.

  • Well, gentlemen, we need entrepreneurs. – Said one of the mobsters in a suit, in the middle of a mafia business circle.

It turns out that by all means, unscrupulous businessmen, among corrupt politicians, who lived in that city, invested in tax incentives, I mean, that city would become an American version of Switzerland, where criminals could come and get rid of taxes, hiding their money.

As long as he hid it there, invested in the city, in infrastructure, also in population projects.

  • We may have numerous businessmen who would make money, as well as other criminals and politicians who would have coverage and insurance. Another man said.

That room was dark, misty from cigarette and pipe smoke.

And for a long time later, when they would investigate what happened in that region, when they discovered numerous bodies of people at various levels of decomposition, pieces that were devoured by crocodiles, in which they were erased as an archive burning of the Giacomo mafia in the city of Louisiana.

Due to its fame, it took time to find owners and even builders who accepted the type of business among numerous engineers, then, when it took time to find a contractor, which led to numerous companies rejecting plans for structures, with solutions, in urban structure development.

It was still an environment that could serve as a hiding place for escape routes from the authorities.

So, there was an auction of government bids, in which some companies took turns, with numerous benefits for construction and infrastructure, due to this they built numerous condominiums, both apartments and houses, there were numerous residences, with population and infrastructure.

Then, in the midst of the works, a series of accidents happened, from the engineers and countless manual workers, who sank into mudflats, to even devoured by wild animals, even had to temporarily stop the works because they cut down vegetation and trees that they could not cut.

They had to reforest and replant trees that in theory were endangered and only existed in those swampy forests.

In the midst of numerous accidents, tragedies, deaths, in more than five buildings, in the midst of the various support pillars in the middle of the works, several engineers disappeared with the various interruptions, they even thought that the place was cursed, due to rumors of a spell that was cast there.

So, they had to paralyze once again, until some employees who were involved in the constructions, got discounts and even free residences to continue the construction and return, due to fear, many of them fled, some returned for the benefits.

Then, shortly before all the projects were finished, when the families of these workers came to visit the large buildings and finished residences.

When there was an earthquake, in the midst of the happy children, between the pillars of support they trembled, when they placed the last beams....

  • Did you feel that? - One of the girls said.

When everyone followed the screams, the moans, in the midst of the earthquake, which was happening in the city.

  • Flee to the street. – Said the engineers and builders.

Many fled, when they tried to pick up the other employees of the buildings of the neighboring residences, the worst happened...

More than twenty residences did not collapse, but the worst thing was what supported them and prevented them from falling towards the ground, or sinking towards the mud, was that countless builders, before they could escape, were trapped under numerous pillars, some of them, were the central pillars, countless people tried to help, but could not, when they were right at the epicenter of a disaster, in the middle of an earthquake.

  • We need to get you out of here... - A woman said.

She was an engineer.

  • You don't understand. A man said, just below the pillar that crushed him.

  • If you try to get me out of here, where we are both going to die, because everything will collapse and fall on top of us...

"We have to run away..." Another said.

  • I'm sorry. The woman said.

After more than two hours of earthquakes, when the fire brigade experts came to test the safety, they were also taken towards the center of each structure, when they saw that it was too late to save anyone.

  • They died. - A paramedic said, when he did not feel the pulsation of the wrist, nor of the carotid.

That was how more than twenty houses, the civil engineering experts said, fled, when they got there.

  • The bodies, whose abdomen to the end of the waist was crushed by the pillars, up to a central pillar, if we take it out from under that place, everything will collapse and fall on top of us. – They said.

So, everyone lived with bodies, which they decomposed under structures that to this day, even after more than a hundred years have passed, still exist there to keep the structures of the houses intact.

During the cold days, among the silence of the night, in the murmurs that everyone heard, scattered through the pipes, between the rivers, they began to call this city haunted.

In which many people claim that these residences, in addition to hearing creaks, calls for help, screams, walls that were heard creaking, conversations, in which all residences are haunted by the spirits of those who were trapped in the structures.

They were never able to remove the skeletons and the remains of the bodies that were left under the structures of the residences, where they called priests, made offerings, but screamed.

The moans and whispers have never gone away, but it is a great structure that supports and withstands even hurricanes.

Further away from the city, there is a fishing town, during legends and urban tales, talked about the zombies, the music of the dead, made by the ribs of the victims of witches, and their remains, further away in the abandoned fishing town, there is a song or even the screams of the creaks from beyond.

The fishermen who still live in the fishing towns of this town, say that they do not go out during the nights of full light, on Fridays, because they are taken by illusions, the witches and voodoo queens and their husbands, use the legends and warn them not to go out or fish during these Fridays, because they may not come back.

The zombies caught in the night mists, hunt the fishermen at sea on those days, so in addition to hunting them, they simply added more zombies to the army, so the people who screamed were not helped, the ships anchored in the harbor after hours in the fog.

Every week, there was always a group of fishermen, even with the warnings, who were heading towards the seas, when they left towards the sea.

The numerous vessels were not found until the end of the week, when they found decomposed bodies tangled in the middle of the nets during the day, by the other fishermen.

When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.

My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"

"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."

Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.

When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.

"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"

George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"

"I'm afraid that's impossible."

Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

One day I'm dealing with cranky toddlers and parents who work too much to actually parent, the next my life is turned upside down and I'm working in a bar for supernaturals. I might not know how to mix drinks, but strangely enough the skills needed to deal with misbehaving children seem to work well enough on vampires, werewolves and even witches. The good news is this job is interesting and hey, my boss might be a demon but I'm pretty sure that under all the grumpy expressions he is a total softie. The bad news is that humans aren't supposed to know about all this magic stuff and so now I'm magically bound to this bar until I can convince them that I won't go telling everyone. Or I die, whichever comes first. Sadly dying is seeming more and more likely because someone is after me. I don't know who or why but they are dangerous and they have magic. So I'll domy best to survive, and if that means spending some extra time with my scary but gorgeous boss then so be it. I'll convince him to trust me if it's the last thing I do.

"White wolf! Kill that monster!"
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
