Forbidden Heat—My Stepfather's Dangerous Desire
Aria Isong · Ongoing · 94.8k Words
Introduction
As secrets rise and boundaries blur, Seraphina is forced to confront feelings she never invited, while Damon struggles between duty, guilt, and a desire he refuses to name. In a house built on wealth and silence, one wrong step could destroy them both.
Some love stories aren’t meant to begin but once they do, they refuse to end quietly.
Chapter 1
By the time the car slows in front of the gate, my body feels hollowed out.
Not tired exactly—more like wrung dry. Like I’ve left pieces of myself behind at bus stations and airports and quiet bathrooms where I stared at my reflection too long.
“Miss Winters…” the driver says softly, as if afraid I’ll break. “We’re here.”
I look up.
The house rises out of the dark like it’s watching me.
Mansion feels like the wrong word. Mansions belong in movies—not in real life, not waiting for girls who don’t know where they fit anymore. This place is all sharp lines and glass and shadows. Cold, even from a distance. The lights glow low and controlled.
Not warm.Not welcoming.
Not home.
I swallow and push the door open myself. My bag feels heavier now, like it knows it doesn’t belong here either.
The front steps are wide. Too wide. Every footstep echoes as I climb them, the sound bouncing back at me like a question I don’t have an answer to.
I pause at the door, fingers curled around the handle, and breathe in.
This is fine.
It’s just a house.
Just a visit.
Just my mother’s new marriage.
I knock.
The sound disappears into the quiet.
For a moment—nothing.
My chest tightens with a strange, fragile hope that no one will answer. That I’ll turn around, laugh, tell the driver there’s been a mistake.
Then the door opens.
It’s not my mother.
The man standing there fills the doorway in a way that feels deliberate—like the house was built around him. Tall. Broad-shouldered. Dressed simply in a dark shirt and slacks, sleeves rolled up, forearms marked with faint lines I don’t have time to examine.
He looks at me the way people look at locked doors.
Measuring. Assessing.
“Seraphina.”
My name lands heavy.
I blink. “I…”
“You’re late,” he says calmly. Not annoyed. Not surprised. Just stating a fact.
I tighten my grip on my bag. “I didn’t realize I had a curfew.”
One corner of his mouth twitches—almost a smile. Almost.
“You don’t.”
Then why does it feel like I do?
He steps aside. Not enough to be polite. Just enough to let me pass if I choose to.
The space between us feels charged. Like static waiting to snap.
“Come in.”
I hesitate.
Then I cross the threshold.
The house smells like polished wood and something sharper underneath. Not flowers. Not food.
Control.
The door closes behind me with a soft click that echoes too loud.
I turn to face him properly, forcing my chin up. “I’m Seraphina. My mom—Catherine—said she’d be here.”
“I know who you are.”
That unsettles me more than it should.
He studies me openly now. Not rudely. Thoroughly. Like he’s taking inventory. My coat. My worn sneakers. The way I stand like I’m bracing for impact.
I straighten. “And you are?”
“Damon Blackwood.”
The name settles into the room like it belongs there.
“Right,” I say. “You’re… her husband.”
“Yes.”
The word sits between us. Heavy. Final.
He gestures toward the hall. “Your room is ready. You’ll want to rest.”
Something about the way he says your room sends a ripple through me. Like he’s already placed me somewhere in this house.
Categorized me.
“I didn’t ask for a tour,” I say before I can stop myself.
His gaze sharpens. Not angry.
Interested.
“No,” he agrees. “You didn’t.”
Silence stretches.
I wait for him to react. To correct me. To assert himself.
He doesn’t.
“Your mother was called away unexpectedly,” he says instead. “She’ll be back tomorrow.”
Of course she will.
I nod, pretending that doesn’t sting. “I’ll manage.”
“I’m sure you will.”
There it is again—that faint edge. Like he knows something about me I don’t.
I shift my weight. “Look, I’m tired. If you’ll just tell me where—”
“Second floor. End of the hall. Left.”
I frown. “You memorized that awfully fast.”
Another almost-smile.
“I like order.”
Figures.
I turn toward the stairs—then stop.
Something itches at the back of my mind.
“How did you know my name?” I ask, not turning around.
A pause.
Brief.
Calculated.
“Catherine talks about you.”
That should make me feel better.
It doesn’t.
I glance back.
He hasn’t moved. Arms crossed now. Watching me. The light cuts across his face, carving shadows that make him look less like a man and more like something constructed.
“Oh,” I say quietly.
“Good night, Seraphina.”
My name sounds different in his voice.
Slower.
Weighted.
“Good night.”
I go upstairs.
The room is large. Too large. Pristine. Untouched—like no one ever planned to really live here.
I drop my bag at the foot of the bed and sit, listening as the silence presses in from all sides.
This house isn’t empty.
It’s watching.
I lie back, staring at the ceiling, replaying the moment at the door.
The way he looked at me.
The way he said my name.
The way he already knew me.
I tell myself I’m imagining things. That I’m tired. That tomorrow will be normal.
But as I drift toward sleep, something shifts.
A sound.
Soft. Deliberate.
Not from outside. From the hallway.
My eyes snap open.
Footsteps.
Slow. Measured.
Stopping right outside my door.
And then—
A hand touches the handle.

He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
When I Disappeared, He Regretted It
The moment the screen lit up, my entire world came crashing down.
The woman on the bed was Calista - that girl who grew up with us since we were kids. And that hand caressing her skin was wearing the wedding ring I had personally put on Matteo's finger.
"I've missed you so much..."
"You drive me crazy, baby..."
Those sweet words I knew so well completely destroyed me.
Everyone said we were the perfect couple, but who knew this marriage was built on nothing but lies?
Since he's so good at acting, I guess it's time I gave him a show of my own. I'm going to make sure everyone sees what this "perfect husband" really is...
I Loved You in Silence, You Betrayed Me in French
At my birthday party, my husband whispered to his mistress in French that he missed her. His voice was low, but I heard it all—the black lingerie, the bit about how pregnancy makes you more sensitive. His French clients around us were laughing. He turned and put his arm around me, claiming he was just helping his clients come up with sweet nothings.
He doesn't know I understand every single word. Just like he doesn't know that inside my body, I'm carrying his other surprise. And his mistress—she's pregnant too. Two wombs, one secret.
Confrontation would be too cheap. Tears are worthless. I quietly started cataloging the hidden networks my father left behind, activating the Swiss accounts.
In seven days, Zoey Smith will cease to exist. And what will my husband's reaction be?

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

Oops, Wrong Girl to Bully
My back hit the desk. Pain exploded through my skull.
"Girls like you don't get to dream about guys like Kai." Bella's breath was hot on my face. "You don't get to write pathetic love letters."
She shoved me again. Harder.
"Maybe if you weren't such a desperate little—"
I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
The door slammed.
I tried to stand. Couldn't. The room was spinning, fading to black.
Someone... please...

Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."
