He Betrayed Me in the Apocalypse

After the apocalypse, my husband's female assistant stole my virus experiment data for the ninth time. I couldn't take it anymore, so I confronted her openly.

My husband said I was being petty and jealous of her. He made me apologize to her in front of everyone and demoted me.

Later, he tried to sweet-talk me, saying he'd make it up to me.

The next day, his first love showed up at the lab wearing his family heirloom necklace.

"William gave me his family heirloom necklace to comfort me after you falsely accused me yesterday."

"I heard this necklace is meant for his future wife. Emily, you're not mad, right?"

I smiled and said casually, "Not mad at all. You two scumbags are a perfect match."

The next second, William got mad and said.

"It's just a necklace. Do you have to talk like that?"

"Apologize to Lily right now, or I'll kick you out of the lab and divorce you!"

Seeing how William defended Lily, I wasn't angry at all.

After I left, his zombie-virus research couldn't continue.

Chapter 1

"I didn't do anything wrong. Why should I apologize?"

Seeing how stubborn I was, William Brown turned red with anger. I was about to speak when Lily Martin started crying.

"As long as I can help the lab a little, I'm fine with some grievances. William, don't fight because of me."

As soon as she said that, all the lab colleagues looked at me with disapproval.

Out of everyone's sight, Lily leaned close to me and gave me a provoking look.

"Emily, let me show you whose side William is really on."

Then, she suddenly grabbed my hand and fell backward.

The necklace fell to the ground.

Lily cried pitifully with tears.

"Emily, I know I don't deserve to wear this necklace, but you can't ruin it."

"I'm sorry, it's all my fault. If you really want this necklace, I can give it to you. Please don't be mad anymore."

Her crying made William explode in anger. He gripped my hand tightly and said.

"Emily, I told you I'd make it up to you. Why are you so obsessed with this necklace!"

"Apologize to Lily now, or get out today!"

Looking at William's face, I couldn't even count how many times he'd threatened me with divorce over Lily.

Before, I'd feel heartbroken and cry, asking him why.

After all, before the apocalypse, we were the sweetest couple at the company.

Even if I just bumped into a table corner by accident, William's eyes would turn red with worry.

After the apocalypse started, I was almost attacked by zombies, and William risked his life to save me.

So, I didn't want to believe that this man who loved me so much would ignore my feelings after Lily showed up.

He even helped her steal my experimental data repeatedly so she could get a foothold in the lab.

But now, I felt nothing inside.

I shook off his hand hard and said flatly, "You can kick me out, but I won't apologize."

Back at the place I shared with William, I put the prepared divorce papers and resignation letter on his bedside.

In the apocalypse, a divorce requires both parties to sign.

And this divorce paper and resignation letter were signed by William three days ago.

He was rushing to help Lily with her lab mistake and didn't even look closely at what I handed him.

After that, I packed my things.

Then I called the head of Westgate Research Lab, William's rival.

"I've already resigned from Eastridge Research Lab. I can come over in a few days."
