Introduction

They say once fear sets in it consumes you totally.

Diane could not think straight watching the arrow approaching her mate from afar, she had not planned on dying when she stepped in to fight in the place of men, she had planned on gaining her position and if she couldn't she would get to understand why he delighted in bloodlust. She waited for the perfect time to cut in between the arrow and her mate where it would hit her vitally, she was done with life anyways, she had tried to claim it herself.

She turned to face her mate, he was preoccupied.

'There's no way he'll be fast enough this time' she smiled.

'Goodbye world, make space for me father, I'm coming to you, to join you, I have achieved nothing here but wasted years'
A lone tear rolled down her cheeks as she stepped in, the poison laced arrows pierced through her chest.

**
Lee Diane spent her childhood restrained, being groomed to be the Luna of the pack due to the presence of a mark on her neck, that has been present in only a few generations known as the Luna's mark. A mark that deemed the bearer an inage of the moon goddess in both strength and quality. A mark that destined it's bearer to be mated to an Alpha.
Followimg the deaths of their fathers they get engaged.

On the day of their engagement Luke finds his mate, over a short he get married. Diane meets her mate on the day of Luke's wedding and he is none else than the Alpha of the pack her people went to war against.
She learns that the war also claimed the life of the pack's Alpha.

He forcefully married her as a means of revenge against Luke.

Chapter 1

Fear.

Fear was the only emotion that describe what she felt staring back into the cold gaze of his mist green eyes, she was shaking. She could feel the bumps forming on her skin as cold air passing through the wildly opened window grazed harshly on her pale soft skin.

She could feel the hatred those eyes of his held for her, it was enough to wipe out an entire pack but she was bearing the hatred of a nation on herself. She tugged on the sides of her dress with clenched fist, as she bore her tooth into the inner part of her lips a little till what she taste went past saliva -blood- .

The smell of blood emanating from her lips filled up her senses and her mind drifted off.

Different thoughts ran through her head, thoughts of how things would had been if she had been mated to Luke, thoughts of how things would had been if the moon goddess did not pull on the strings that held her life together and called it her fate.

She could feel her eyes begin to sting as tears formed in them, an occurrence extremely rare to her.

The moon goddess had to a brute.

That was the only reasonable conclusion she could come up with, that was the only conclusion that explained why her father had to die in battle, that explained why her mate was not the man it was supposed to be, that explained why..

"Thinking?" A cold but subtle voice came crashing into her thoughts, pulling her back to the harshness of the reality she was in. She kept silent, not like she had a choice.

The quietness loomed in the room for a while before his voice came through again.

"Save the brain work, thinking will not save you from me.."

"..No one can" He sounded like he was reassuring her of how much a hell he would her life.

The started taking steps towards her and she pulled back instinctively.

She wanted to survive.

He continued into his movement towards her and she continued in hers away from him, she felt she was getting away until her body hit the hard black walls of the dark painted room. She could feel her self crashing slowly to the ground not until some solid hands pinned her to the hard walls, her eyes fell on his plantinum blonde hair and trailed slowly to his eyes, his weird features had always seemed to captivate her.

A tear dropped followed by another, this stance, this posture it was the same as the one from that night, the night they had first met, the night that spelt doom for her.

"..why?" Her soft voice was like and arrow piercing through the cloud of his anger

"Why..did it have..to..come..to this?" She sniffled as she spoke, anger, fear and hatred portrayed in her voice.

"I will make life a living hell for you miss Lee or should I say Mrs Luther you and your pack will pay for everything you did to my Father"

Ian Luther's cold yet soft voice echoed through the somewhat empty room and in a whiff he was gone just he was on that night too.

Once her support was gone she came crashing down in hot tears, that was the first time Diane Lee was crying in fifteen years.

She stayed there for a while before crawling up to the king sized bed lying by the corner of the room.

Once she got there she buried her head in the sheets soaking it with her tears.

"I hate it mom"

She whispered out in a tear drenched voice.

"All of it"

She knew very well that her mother was not closeby yet she couldn't help it, an image of the look of disappointment of her mother's face as she got married flashed through her head.

Her mind was a foggy mess with different thoughts, different memories flooding them, replaying events of the past, events that led up to this point.

All her life she had been told only but one thing that she was a fated to marry the next Alpha of the Red moon pack, the person she had grown to love -Luke.

She had been through a lot starting from birth when the mark that tied her down to royalty was discovered by the midwives, her father being a noble as the beta of the pack relayed the information to the Alpha Luke's father and they being best of friends signed her off to be the next Luna disregarding the possibilities that her Luna's mark could belong to another, and since her existence to the world could come as a possible threat to her she was made never to see the outwalls of her family villa. She grew up knowing only five people her mother, father, the Alpha Mr Rowley and Vivian her handmaid. Her teachers were all veiled before her and so was she. She had only heard stories of Luke and painted him in her fantasies until she turned twelve when she was shown a picture of Luke, falling in love at him at first sight.

She grew up being taught all the manners it took to be a proper Luna. On her sixteenth birthday she had tried to escape the villa, her birthday tradition but as usual she was caught, after cleaning up she was brought to the living room where three familiar faces and one unfamiliar one stood in front of a large cake, her face was ever so stuck on Luke's face a wide grin plastered on them, she couldn't tell she was thoughtlessly staring at him until the three grownups in the room started laughing.

"I'm sure you'd wish we would all disappear" Mr Rowley made jest and everyone laughed except Diane and Luke.

She steadied herself and walked towards the direction of the cake, her body was shaking slightly from being shy, she reached out for the knife to cut the cake and after all that was done she was allowed to take him to her room.

They became acquainted, and he visited often then they became friends the best of them, she learned that they had an age difference of three years. On her eighteenth birthday Luke confessed to her in front of the family, her joy knew no bounds she had not bothered herself with the presence of the family when she threw herself into his arms, for a light second she was puzzled and scared that she had made the wrong choice of movement at least not until Luke's firm hands wrapped around her.

Their parents were glad for the growth of their relationship and things were going well for the them not until their both fathers lost their lives in a war against their neighboring pack.

The war seized after the two Alpha's alongside the beta of the red moon pack died and the two pack came to a 'reasonable conclusion'.

After the mourning period the pressure on Luke to marry increased as it was a necessity for him to become Alpha.

Diane had felt scared by this as no one knew of her existence, her first appearance to the pack council was the day Luke brought her in as the only person he would marry, he unveiled her and introduced her to the council revealing her mark, the council was elated as they knew the amount of strength the image of the moon goddess had, it was like a silver lining in the dark cloud that hovered round the pack and with that Luke was made Alpha without marrying, because he did not want to rush into it, because it felt too sudden, but after three months he proposed to her and she accepted wholeheartedly.

They had not bothered themselves with the mating bond as they believed that it would suffice sometime into their marriage. Her second appearance in front of people was the day Luke announced her as his Luna to be.

Afterwards he held a gathering of elites for their engagement ceremony where the Alpha and Luna of different packs as well as Wolves of great caliber and nobility was present. After the exchange of ring between them everybody made way for the dance floor giving room to the couples.

They danced heartily for a while before Luke stopped paying attention to her like his mind was focused somewhere else, she followed his eyes till her eyes met the future of a woman who was paying a similar amount of attention on him she felt puzzled but she did not let it show, she had trust for Luke, she believed it was a long lost friend or something so she did not bother instead she turned his attention back to herself, but that did not change his unease, he continued dancing with her before suddenly excusing himself from her leaving her stranded on the dancefloor almost immediately the woman he had been looking at cleared the dancefloor following the direction Luke walked in.

She was starting to panic but she calmed herself down, Luke did not come back instead he sent a guard to take her home, something he had never done, she could not help it anymore, she tried calling but he did not go through sending her heart to panic.

She stayed restless through the night unable to sleep when her window shifted open and he walked through, she sprang up and rushed to grab him not noticing what was amiss.

"Where have you been what is wrong with.." She stopped abruptly as she noticed the color of his eyes.

"Why are you crying.." She asked as she cupped his face, a ting of fear mixed with shock on her face.

He pushed her hand slightly away staggering backwards.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé.
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
