Hidden Marriage for Three Years: The CEO’s Wife Has Had Enough
Irene Vale · Completed · 70.0k Words
Introduction
With one sentence, Sienna tore apart her marriage to Ethan.
For three years of their secret marriage, she was his obedient wife, his silent assistant, and the woman he always overlooked.
Until she discovered that every business trip he took was spent living with his adopted sister.
While he was hospitalized after a car accident, she slipped divorce papers into his documents and tricked him into signing them.
She quit her job, moved out, and inherited a massive fortune.
The whole city mocked her, saying she was nothing without Ethan.
But she turned around and climbed back to the top of the industry, standing beside a man even more powerful than him.
Only then did Ethan realize what he had lost, kneeling before her and begging for another chance.
She leaned down slightly and smiled.
“Mr. Howard, when you cheated on me… did you ever think I could choose someone else too?”
Chapter 1
"Doctor, Mr. Howard doesn't have any STDs, right? By the way, I'm his wife."
In the quiet corridor of the private hospital, Sienna held a thermos in her hand. She smiled gently, but her words startled the doctor.
"The car accident only injured his leg..."
"I know the accident wasn't serious, but he cheated on me, so I'm asking if he caught anything."
"Well, this... the blood test results are naturally fine..."
After getting the reassuring answer, Sienna walked into the hospital room satisfied, her smile even sweeter.
"Honey, I made some porridge." She placed the thermos on the bedside table. "Want me to feed you?"
Ethan Howard was leaning against the hospital bed and looked up at her.
His hospital gown hung loosely over his shoulders, his manner lazy and elegant—he didn't look like a patient, more like a runway model.
The floor-to-ceiling curtains were wide open, flooding the room with bright light. On the table by the bed lay a tablet, laptop, and several paper documents—the whole setup felt like a CEO's office.
He held a pen between his fingers, and even injured, he radiated the commanding presence of someone in control.
"My hands aren't broken."
His voice was cold and emotionless. After speaking, he glanced toward the hallway to see if anyone was passing by.
If there were others around, she couldn't call him honey. After all, their marriage was secret.
Sienna had long grown used to this distance.
"Come print these documents. I'll sign them and you can take them to the office." He ordered her.
At the company, she was also his assistant. Usually, besides printing documents, her only other task was making coffee.
"Okay." Sienna walked over to operate the computer, keeping watch on Ethan from the corner of her eye. Seeing he wasn't paying attention, she quietly downloaded and printed an extra document, then deleted the record...
The printer spat out warm sheets of paper. Sienna flipped through the documents to the signature pages and handed them to him.
After three years of marriage, she'd always been obedient and understanding. He'd long stopped being on guard around her, so he didn't notice that a divorce agreement was slipped in among them.
Her heartbeat raced like a roller coaster, rising and falling, but Sienna calmly collected the documents. "Are you hungry? I—"
Before she could finish, light footsteps echoed in the hallway, followed by a cheerful, bell-like voice, sweet and coy: "Ethan, I brought you food."
The woman who entered was petite, with shoulder-length hair and a plaid skirt—she looked like a high school student.
Completely different from Sienna in her business suit with long hair flowing over her shoulders, radiating professional energy.
Seeing Sienna there, she wasn't surprised. Acting as if she hadn't noticed, she went straight to Ethan's bedside. "Ethan, does your leg still hurt?"
"Much better." Ethan's voice naturally softened.
"Sienna, you brought food too. I thought you wouldn't come again today." Queenie Howard turned to Sienna with a smile. "I got mine from a private restaurant. If it's better than what you made, I'm really sorry."
Ethan had been in a car accident abroad two days ago, came back yesterday to be hospitalized, and only notified Sienna today—not to take care of him, but to pick up documents.
From abroad to home, Queenie had been with him the whole time. To outsiders, they looked like siblings with an especially close relationship.
But actually, they weren't blood-related, weren't close as children, and had only grown closer in recent years.
"You can go." When speaking to Sienna, Ethan's tone was noticeably colder. "Take the porridge with you."
"Sienna made it herself—don't waste her kindness. Ethan, if you won't drink it, I will." Queenie reached out to unscrew the thermos lid. Her movements seemed strained, and the container gradually slid toward the edge of the table, about to fall.
Sienna grabbed it, stopping her, and picked up the thermos.
"You don't need to drink it either. The greasy, salty stuff from the private restaurant tastes better anyway."
She spoke calmly, then carried the thermos into the bathroom and poured the still-steaming porridge into the toilet.
"Mr. Howard, if there's nothing else, I won't come back. Queenie can definitely take better care of you than me—she understands you better." Sienna picked up her bag.
Ethan's expression had already darkened, and now he spoke through gritted teeth. "Sienna, stop with the passive-aggressive comments."
"Sienna, what do you mean? Yesterday was an emergency, and Ethan was unconscious—I forgot to tell you." Queenie's eyes immediately reddened. "Don't blame Ethan, okay? If you want to blame someone, blame me..."
"I only blame myself for not being considerate enough." Sienna cut her off, gave Ethan one long look, and closed the door behind her.
Half a month ago, she'd seen an expense report in her email—Ethan and Queenie had booked the same hotel room.
Howard Group had branches worldwide with annual profits in the billions, and Ethan's net worth was unfathomable. Couldn't he afford two rooms?
Or did siblings without blood ties not need to avoid suspicion?
Curious, she checked the past six months of expense reports and discovered that every time Ethan went on a business trip, he brought Queenie, and every time they shared a room.
She'd thrown up while holding her laptop.
Driving back to the company, Sienna used Ethan's card to access the executive elevator and took the signed documents to Assistant Sam.
"Even when Mr. Howard isn't here, you shouldn't use his elevator." Sam had always looked down on women who had looks but didn't do real work, and his voice was quite stern. "Check these over, then take them back to Mr. Howard for his signature."
In front of Ethan, anyone in the company could boss Sienna around.
He never stood up for her.
And everyone had gotten used to treating her like some useless relative the Howard family had forced into the company—Ethan was unhappy with her but couldn't fire her, so he could only make things difficult for her openly and behind the scenes.
Sienna didn't take the tablet Sam held out to her.
She asked back, "Why can't you just send the files directly to Ethan instead of making me make another trip?"
Sam froze, eyes widening as he stared at her, thinking she'd lost her mind. "What did you say?"
"Let Ethan check them himself, print them himself, and find someone to bring them to you himself. That Queenie comes to the office all the time with nothing to do—I think she'd be perfect for it." Sienna added.
Sam laughed coldly with sarcasm. "Sienna, I think you've lost it. Howard Group doesn't support freeloaders. You do nothing and still want a high salary? There's no such good deal."
"Keep that good deal for yourself." Sienna took off her ID badge and tossed it in front of him. "I quit. Find someone else to deliver your stuff."
"Quit? Even if you quit, you have to finish today's work, or you—"
Sienna wasn't afraid of threats and cut him off directly. "I don't want that paycheck."
She stared into Sam's eyes, her tone seemingly no different from usual, but the words she spoke were chilling.
"Tell Mr. Howard," she said, word by word, "I quit catering to you."
This time, it was Sam who froze.
His other hand clutched his phone, and now he slowly tilted the screen.
The screen showed an ongoing call with Mr. Howard, right there for Sienna to see.
