Chapter 1
Emily’s POV
“Get your fucking ass off the bed, you lazy bone!” My foster mom yelled and pushed me off the bed making my butt hit the floor which caused me to scream out in discomfort.
“That serves you right," She snapped and continued. "I want you to get downstairs in two minutes and make breakfast for my daughter and I or else you know what it might turn into,” She stated and walked out of the room.
Why do I've to go through this pain and hatred towards these people? I wondered sobbing on the floor.
I got up from the floor and walked to the bathroom to wash my face before proceeding to go make breakfast and prepare for school.
Where are my manners, allow me to introduce myself to you guys.
My name is Emily, Emily Carton; I'm an orphan but was adopted by Mr. Carton, a businessman and his wife when I was still a baby at an orphanage.
They told me they couldn’t bear a child and decided to adopt one and that's when they adopted me when I was still 3 months old with a medallion around my neck with the inscription of my name, Emily P.R.
I don’t know what that means but I think the ‘P. R’ signifies my biological parents name or something but I always wear it around my neck with the hope someday I’ll meet my biological parents and ask them why they abandoned me.
After a year I got adopted, Mrs. Carton became pregnant with a child and together they both looked after me and their unborn baby until 7 years back when everything changed.
Dad’s business went bankrupt and Mrs. Carton blamed me for being jinxed and a bad omen to her family and began to treat me like a slave together with her daughter, Lily.
They began to hit on me every single time I make any little mistake or the other, making life so unbearable for me but Mr. Carton, I mean dad, he told me to be calling him dad but I find it hard because each time his wife hears the word from my mouth she punishes me severally by whipping and starving me for days till I pass out without his knowledge.
However, he always protect me whenever he caught them hitting on me unless he is on a business trip, which is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of me by forcing me to do all the house chores like always since Mr. Carton left for business trip last night and he said it will take up to 5 months for him to be back so my suffering continued as usual.
Lily, my foster sister on the other hand, hated me so much to the point she almost killed me in my sleep because I was complimented on my beauty when I was still little. Every single day, her hatred deepens which she does say all the time. That's when I decided to hide my beauty so it would not be noticed.
At school everyone thinks I’m ugly because I use horrible makeup to save myself from Lily and her mother.
Even my secret crush, Antonio, the school bad boy, never noticed me. I've been crushing over him since the first day we started high school but he just doesn’t want to look at me for once. Lily and him recently started dating who also has a huge crush on him like she used to tell her mother but I didn’t show I had a crush on him, knowing the outcome won’t be good for me.
I think that all for now but y’all are gonna know me later on but for now let me go and answer that witches before they start ranting at me.
I washed my face and stepped out of the bathroom wiping my face with a towel before putting on a lot of foundation on my face like always before walking outta my room.
I walked downstairs and met Lily all dressed up for school and her mother at the dining table having a discussion but when they saw me, they discarded the discussion. I wonder what the devil's advocates were murmuring about? I thought.
“What took you so long to get here?” Mrs. Carton barked while Lily just glared hard at me.
“Let her be, mom. It pointless trying to waste your time on the f**king snitch.” Lily hissed, glaring at me with hatred.
“Sorry mother.” I apologized.
“I’m not your mother, you wretched girl.” She barked, while I remained mute without saying any word again. This is how I got treated just like the outsider I am.
“What are you then standing there doing? Go make something for us to eat!” Mrs. Carton screamed.
I walked to the kitchen to start preparing breakfast as the tears I was trying to hold back stroll down my cheeks.
Oh, God! This pain is becoming unbearable for me. I don’t know why my biological parents even gave birth to me when they knew they couldn't take care of me. I just wish someone would just come and save me from all this pain and suffering.
I composed myself after some minutes and decided to make a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich for them which in no time I was done. After serving them, I head back to my room to freshen up and get ready for school.
I walked into the school gate after coming down from the cab heading towards the gate since Lily left with the car without me. I was walking towards the school building when my secret crush, Antonio Leonardo’s car drove in.
Everyone rushed to see him as usual while I remained still to my spot as he highlighted from the car looking as handsome, sexy and cute as ever with his light brown curly hair, cute lips and well made face like a demigod.
I was drooling completely over him when someone tapped me from behind startled me. I turned around to see my only friend, Jack.
"Oh my god! Jack, it's you.” I heaved in relief.
“Sorry, I startled you.” He chuckled.
“Yeah, seriously!”
“I just wanted to surprise you a little but didn’t know it was gonna turn out like this, I'm sorry.” He apologized.
“No, it’s okay.” I replied and turned my face in the direction of the school hottie.
Everyone kept taking pictures of him until he looked towards my direction before taking his face away and heading towards the class.
He just doesn’t seem to notice me because of how I apply my makeup. It's not like the makeup was horrible or something, it was just in excess and to them it all looked horrible.
“Let go before the teacher gets inside the class.” I said to Jack walking towards our class.
I was in the same class with Antonio but I acted like a nerd since nobody talked to me, except for Jack who approached me and asked to be friends with me which I did because life sucks if you’re alone.
I walked into the class with Jack beside me, “Look who decided to show up with her terrible face,” Lily blurted at me and everyone burst out in laughter except Antonio who was at the back of the class with his two legs on the desk doing away with his phone who just took a brief look at me and took his face away.
“At least she’s good, not like some bitches who claim to be saints.” Jack growled at them and everyone became silent before he pulled me to his seat beside him.
Lily, who was already boiling with rage, stared at me with the looks that says I'll be dealt with today but I discard the thought and focus on the teacher who walked in.
It was lunch time already which felt like running to a peaceful place because throughout the classes, I was feeling restless due to the looks everyone was giving me about what Jack had said earlier even Lily’s stare was enough to make me feel uneasy.
Everyone was scared of Jack compared to Antonio, he was a bad guy while Jake was a nice guy and the principal's son which was the reason why people feared him. Everyone knew that his father was a hard man and one little mistake from students towards his son would get them in trouble.
On the other hand, Antonio went out with Lily for lunch time, since both of them are dating and everyone in the school was aware of their relationship but no one knows the actual truth behind it. Out of possessiveness, Lilly allured him into having sex with her making it look like he raped her when he got drunk and Antonio not wanting to spoil his father’s prestige accepted to make her his girlfriend. Lily, Mrs. Carton and I were the only ones who knew the real truth.
I wouldn't have known if I didn't hear Lily and her mum planning to spike Antonio's drink at his birthday party since she had a crush on him and he didn’t notice her which worked in their favor and he had sex with her making it look like he forced himself on her.
I really wanted to expose Lily to him but he doesn’t talk to me or anything. It really hurt me, she had to do that to my secret crush but what could I possibly do when he doesn’t even acknowledge my presence or even know my name.
I was in the cafeteria with Jack eating a burrito and a drink when Antonio and Lily walked in holding each other's hands when all of sudden, an eighth grade student bumped into Antonio spilling his drink on Antonio’s shirt. What has this guy done to himself today? I felt scared for the boy.
“Can’t you f**king watch where you’re going moron!” Antonio roared at him with cold eyes and holding the boy's collar.
“I’m… I’m sorry, I didn’t see you coming.” The boy stammered in fear.
“Just f**king get off my face right now!” He barked, making the student run out.
What could have made Antonio act a bit nice today? He has never done what he just did before; I vividly remember two weeks back, what he did to one of our classmates. That very day, the boy was so engrossed in a conversation with his friend and bypassed Antonio hitting his shoulder against Antonio's.
Antonio, who got angry, pulled the boy back by the collar and asked him why and the guy begged Antonio, “It wasn’t intentional.” He said sobbing but Antonio paid no heed to his cries or pleas and started hitting the boy so hard until he passed out. How could I ever forget that incident? That was the worst day ever!
Sometimes, I ask myself what made me fall for such a guy but to be sincere, I fell for his looks, charm but as for his attitude I'm trying to adapt to it. I feel the way he acts might be that he needs someone who will look after him, maybe a girl who will show him how to treat people nicely and in a friendly manner as well.
Jake and I were talking about random stuff when Lily sighted me from where I was and glared hard at me with hatred while Antonio excused himself to go clean up his shirt.
At the dismissal of Antonio, Lily walked up to us, “I wonder what’s so special about this bitch that you find adoring?” She asked Jack, making everyone in the cafeteria turn their gaze at us and mumbling one word or the other to themselves.
“Guys, could y’all believe she is a slave at our house but my parents were so nice that's why they allowed her to come to this expensive school.” She boasted with pride.
“Watch your damn tongue bitch!” Jack cautioned her.
How could she say false words about me just because she hates me and I’m more beautiful than her?
“What will you do?” She asked him and continued, “What I am saying is the truth and you’re here supporting her.”
“You’re just envious of her, that's the true fact.” Jack admitted to her, standing up for me.
Jack is really a true friend; he has been standing up for me whenever anyone insults or mock me.
“Oh, really? Then why don’t you ask her why she hides behind the horrible makeup? Well, you can’t because she is ugly in and out.” She said boastfully, knowing I can't reveal myself just to avoid the outcome of what her mother was going to do to me.
Everyone kept staring at me with curiosity. They all wanted to find out including Jack but I won't let that happen, at least not yet.
The second reason why I hide under the makeup was to avoid getting too much attention from guys which Lily envied and will definitely plan against me together with her mother.
“At least she did it for some reason unlike you who look like a horse.” Jack said and everyone burst out laughing at her.
“She is nothing but a bastard whose parents abandoned because she is jinxed.” She revealed about me being an orphan and students began murmuring at it.
I was at the edge of breaking down that I couldn’t take the embarrassment and got up from my seat and rushed out in tears but came in contact with a hard body at the entrance.
“I’m sorry.” I mumbled and ran off very fast without waiting to see who it was.

"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

Before she could formulate a witty remark, Matteo threw her down. She landed hard on her back atop his dining room table. She tried to sit up when she noticed what he was doing. His hands were working on his belt. It came free of his pants with a violent yank. She collapsed back on her elbows, her mouth gaping open at the display. His face was a mask of sheer determination, his eyes were a dark gold swimming with heat and desire. His hands wrapped around her thighs and pulled her to the edge of the table. He glided his fingers up her thighs and hooked several around the inside of her panties. His knuckles brushed her dripping sex.
“You’re soaking wet, Genevieve. Tell me, was it me that made you this way or him?” his voice told her to be careful with her answer. His knuckles slid down through her folds and she threw her head back as she moaned. “Weakness?”

That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
