Wyatt · Completed · 56.3k Words
Introduction
"Let's stop. You're going to regret this tomorrow," I said, breathless.
"No, I won't," she whispered, before kissing me again - harder this time. God knows I was trying my best to control myself.
We kept kissing as she began unbuttoning my white shirt. Her hand slid down to my trousers, fumbling with my belt.
"No... I can't do this," I said, my heart racing. Ryder will kill me if he finds out.
Blake has been secretly in love with his best friend’s sister, Elena, who is five years older than him ,since he was ten. Their families are close, almost like one big family, which only made it harder for him to confess how he felt.
Now Blake is twenty and in college, while Elena, twenty-five, is already a successful CEO. When her boyfriend Aiden proposes, Blake decides it’s finally time to bury his feelings and move on.
But everything changes the night Elena kisses him.
The moment her lips touch his, the walls he built collapse. The feelings he tried so hard to kill surge back to life — fierce, uncontrollable, and impossible to ignore.
And Blake realizes one thing:
He can’t walk away anymore.
He has to fight for her — even if claiming her means risking everything.
Chapter 1
Blake's Pov
The entire mansion buzzed with families, friends, and business partners.
Everyone mingled, chatting and waiting patiently for the birthday girl to appear.
I sat quietly in the corner with Ryder, the birthday girl's younger brother—and my best friend since we were ten.
A glass of wine rested in my hand as I took a slow sip."Where the hell is Elena? I'm tired of sitting here," Ryder groaned.
"Shut up, man. She has to look beautiful—it's her birthday, after all," I said, rolling my eyes."Beautiful for who? Don't tell me it's for that potential boyfriend," Ryder said, pulling a disgusted face.
"I *don't know why I still can't bring myself to like him."he said".
"Same here," I muttered.*
It hit me like a storm—that feeling when you realize the person you like, the one you've always wanted to be yours and yours alone, can never be. No matter what you do, she's out of reach. All you can do is love her from afar, love her in secret, because those feelings will never be returned.
"Hello, everyone!" the party MC announced, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Gather around. We're here to celebrate Miss Elena Carter's 25th birthday. Let's welcome her as she enters!
"Everyone clapped as the click of her heels echoed through the room. She appeared in a stunning long red strapless gown that hugged her curves perfectly, the back daringly bare, her black hair curled and cascading almost to her waist.
Elena entered like the queen she was. Everyone stared, dumbfounded by her beauty.
She looked like an angel
A fitting reputation for Elena Carter, New York City's most elegant lady.
My breath caught.
I'd always known she was beautiful, but tonight felt different. She was breathtaking.
Then another figure entered, and Elena smiled at him. Aiden, her boyfriend.
Aiden was Elena's business partner; they'd fallen in love and started dating last year. The whole city knew about them.
I remembered the day she told us she was dating Aiden.
it felt like my world shattered.
They linked arms and walked to the front amid applause."I don'*t know what my sister sees in that guy," Ryder muttered."
She loves him, fool," someone said beside me. It was my younger sister, Alexa. When had she snuck up?
*"Shut up, Alexa. What do you know about love? You're just a kid," Ryder hissed."I'm not a kid—I'm fifteen," Alexa shot back, rolling her eyes.
They were at it again. Ryder and Alexa always bickered, but they cared about each other deeply. People even mistook them for siblings.
"Shut up, both of you," I groaned, raking a hand through my hair. They froze, staring at me like I'd grown horns.
"You okay, man?" Ryder asked, concern etching his face."I'm fine," I said. Alexa rolled her eyes.
"Happy birthday, Elena!" the crowd cheered."Thanks, everyone, for coming—my friends, family, and my man Aiden. I'm so grateful," Elena said warmly. Everyone smiled.
"You two look perfect together!" someone called out. Elena blushed.
Perfect together my foot.
Music swelled, and people paired off to dance.
"Let's dance, brother," Alexa said to Ryder."Okay, mi lady," Ryder chuckled. They laughed and stood, leaving me alone.
Aiden held Elena's bare waist as they danced, her face lit with happiness. My heart cracked just watching them. I couldn't think straight.
"Want to dance, Blake?" a voice asked from behind. Sapphire. I nodded. We joined the crowd. She draped her arms around my neck, and I glanced down—she was a bit short. Sapphire smiled up at me, but all I could see was Aiden's hand on Elena's waist, her joyful smile.
I tried to focus elsewhere.
"What are you thinking about, Blake?" Sapphire asked."Nothing," I muttered."Have you thought about what I asked?"
"I'm not interested, Sapphire," I groaned."It's just sex, Blake. We're getting married anyway," she said shamelessly.
Sapphire is my course mate, and our parents were business partners who'd arranged our marriage. She'd been throwing herself at me, but I always turned her down.
"You're not okay, Sapphire," I said.
"Everyone knows you're a playboy, you've slept with half of the department girls. Why not me? Just once," she pressed, rolling her eyes.
I shook my head in disgust, pulled away, and headed back to my seat. I grabbed a glass of wine and downed it in one gulp.
The music stopped. Everyone froze.
"Mr. Aiden Cohen has a surprise** for the birthday girl!" the MC announced. All eyes turned to him.
Aiden dropped to one knee, pulling a small black box from his pocket. Gasps rippled through the room, including from Elena.
No. It can't be what I'm thinking.
Aiden smiled. "Elena, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I've waited patiently for this day. Will you marry me?"
"Yes! Yes, I will marry you, Aiden!"
My world shattered.
Elena's POV
I couldn't believe my ears. Aiden is proposing.
My heart raced as he opened the box, revealing a sparkling diamond ring."Elena, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I've waited patiently for this day. Will you marry me?" he repeated.
I lost my breath for a moment. A tear rolled down my cheek."Yes, I will marry you, Aiden!" I said happily, extending my left hand. He slipped the ring on, stood, and pulled me into a hug.
"Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!" the crowd chanted, clapping wildly. We smiled at each other. Aiden gripped my waist and kissed me softly. Cheers erupted. We broke apart, hugging again as applause thundered.
Music resumed, and dancing began."I love you, Aiden," I whispered."I love you too, baby," he replied, matching my affection.
I beamed.
Someone cleared their throat behind us—my friends Camilla and Ruby."Girls!" I squealed, hugging them tightly."Congratulations, baby!" they laughed."Thanks, babes."
"I'll grab a drink—you girls should talk," Aiden said. He pecked my lips; I nodded, blushing.
He walked off.
"Get a room, lovebird," Ruby teased, rolling her eyes. I laughed.
We chatted when I spotted Blake in the corner, downing drinks nonstop. What's wrong with that kid now?"
I'm coming, girls," I said. They nodded. I approached Blake. "Hey, kiddo."He looked up."Why are you drinking so much? You okay?" I asked, concerned. I reached to touch him, but he shifted away.
"I'm fine, Elena," he said firmly."You sure?" I tried for his forehead. He grabbed my hand and flung it off.
"I said I'm fine. Leave me alone!" he snapped, nearly shouting.I gasped, stumbling back. My heel hit the table—I started to fall. Strong arms caught my waist.
it was Aiden.
Thank God.

Those words should have destroyed me, but the truth was worse: I'd been used as a broodmare by the man who swore to love me, set up in a hotel room with a stranger because My husband Alexander Cross couldn't father children himself, and now I carried the secret babies of Damon Lester—the most powerful and dangerous Alpha in San Loris—while my own family replaced me with the daughter they'd always wanted. Could I protect my babies from the husband plotting my death, hide my true identity from the Alpha who's been hunting me for years, and reclaim the freedom I'd buried along with my dreams—even if it means standing alone against the wolves who see me as nothing more than a womb to be used and discarded?
