REJECTED THE ALPHAS, CROWNED BY THEIR KING
B. Nelson · Ongoing · 132.5k Words
Introduction
Her home. Her people. Her twin brother Marcus, twenty-two years old, buried in ash and rubble while she dug his grave with her bare hands.
Most people would have run away.
Aria ran toward it.
Four months of tracking one burned document led her to one name, Vayne. The most powerful wolf pack in the region. A pack with an army, a territory, and a Supreme Alpha whose word was absolute law.
She crossed their border at midnight. Alone. On purpose.
Not to beg. Not to hide. To find the person who gave the order and make sure they answered for it.
What she didn't plan for was Kael.
The youngest Alpha pulled her from the dark instead of killing her. Hid her. Protected her. Taught her the world she had walked into, and somewhere in the middle of all that, fell in love with her.
She didn't plan for that either.
Then Damon arrived.
The heir. The eldest cousin. Cold, brilliant, and dangerous in a way that had nothing to do with his teeth. He looked at Aria once and decided he wanted what belonged to his cousin.
Not from love.
From pride.
And above them both sat Aldric, the Supreme Alpha. Ancient. Calculating. A man who had been moving pieces on a board for sixty years.
Aria thought she came to destroy the Vayne pack.
She had no idea the Vayne pack had been waiting for her.
Two Alphas will fight over her.
One king will claim her.
And the girl who crossed the border expecting to die will end up ruling everything.
Chapter 1
She didn't sneak across the border.
She walked.
No crawling through undergrowth. No checking over her shoulder every ten steps. Just Aria Voss putting one foot in front of the other through the Vayne tree line at midnight like she had somewhere to be and nothing left to lose.
The second part was true.
She had lost the thing that mattered four months ago. Her twenty-two years old twin brother Marcus, with a terrible whistling habit that drove everyone in Settlement Seven half-mad and a laugh that was more snort than anything else and seven different ways of saying her name depending on his mood. Aria when he was happy. Ri when he was teasing. The full version first, middle, last when she had done something that made him want to sound like their mother.
Gone in one night.
One raid. One wolf pack that came out of the dark and burned everything to the ground and left seven graves in the ash before the sun came up.
She had dug his grave herself. The ground was still warm from the fires. She remembered that. The way the dirt felt against her hands, hot from underneath, cold from the night air above, and her in the middle of it digging because there was nothing else to do and she was not going to let anyone else put her brother in the ground.
She'd stayed at the grave until morning.
Then she'd gone back to the rubble and started searching.
It took her three days to find it, a half-burned document buried under collapsed roof beams, edges black, middle still readable. A pack seal pressed into the corner. She didn't know what pack. She didn't know anything about wolves at that point except that she hated them with the specific, focused hatred of someone who had been given a very clear reason.
She learned fast.
Four months of tracking that seal across three territories, asking questions in the right places, following supply routes, mapping pack boundaries on scraps of paper she kept in her jacket. She slept in barns and empty buildings and once, memorably, in a drainage ditch during a rainstorm because the alternative was being caught on a road after dark by a patrol she hadn't seen coming.
Four months, and only one name was certain at the end of it.
Vayne.
The most powerful wolf pack in the region, with the largest territory and an Alpha whose authority was absolute and a history of doing exactly what they wanted with no accountability to anyone. She had read everything she could find about them. She knew the structure, the hierarchy, the territory layout. She knew the name of the Supreme Alpha and the names of his two Alpha cousins and the rough location of the main pack house.
She knew that a human woman walking into Vayne territory alone at midnight would be found within minutes.
And that was the plan.
Get found. Get taken inside. Find the specific person who gave the order for Settlement Seven and get close enough to them to find the proof she needed.
Simple. Dangerous. And the only option she had left.
The seal belonged to the Vayne pack. And the Vayne pack's territory started exactly where she was standing.
She kept walking.
The boundary stone jutted from the forest floor half-buried in moss, the wolf crest carved into its face, worn smooth by decades of rain. She touched it as she passed. It was cold under her fingers and old. The same crest from the burned document she had been carrying in her jacket for four months, the edges of it soft now from handling.
Same wolves. Different stones.
She stepped past it and moved into the forest.
They found her before she had taken sixty steps.
No warning. No sound she could identify before it was already happening. One moment the forest was empty darkness in every direction and the next it wasn't, three wolves stepping out of the shadows like the dark itself had decided to take shape. Big in a way that made her brain stutter before it caught up. Too wide across the shoulders. Too tall. Eyes catching the moonlight in that gold animal way that turned her stomach, even after four months of preparing herself for exactly this.
They spread into a loose circle around her and waited for what humans always did next. But she didn't run.
She stopped walking and planted her feet in the wet ground. Kept her hands open at her sides where all three of them could see them and looked straight ahead at the wolf directly in front of her.
Her ribs were killing her. Two cracked ones from the ravine crossing two miles back, wrapped tight in strips she had torn from her shirt, announcing themselves with every breath in a way she had been ignoring for the last hour. Her boots were soaked through from the same crossing. She had twelve dollars in her pocket, a photograph of Marcus taken three weeks before the raid, and a plan that required her to be captured.
Not killed.
There was a difference.
Everything from four months of tracking, three territories crossed, one burned document and one dead brother depended on that difference.
The wolf on her left growled, low and slow. A sound designed to trigger the fear response and get the running started. The one on her right took a step closer, moving into the edge of her outer vision deliberately.
Yet she didn't move.
The one directly in front of her was younger than the other two. She could see it in how he held himself, something not yet fully settled about his stillness, something the others had that he was still growing into. Rain-dark hair. A jaw set so hard it had to be causing him some discomfort. The Vayne crest tattooed on the left side of his neck caught a sliver of moonlight, same wolves, same mark, same people who had stood over seven fresh graves four months ago and walked away.
Her jaw tightened but she relaxed it consciously.
Not yet.
He was looking at her the way people looked at things that didn't fit the pattern they'd been given. She was clearly human, and she was clearly not running. Those two facts together didn't add up to anything in his experience and she could see him working through it, his dark eyes moving across her face, her hands, her stance, searching for the explanation.
She gave him nothing but to look back and waited.
The forest went so quiet she could hear her own heartbeat.
The wolf on her right took another step. The young one shot his hand out sideways, sharp, flat, the gesture carrying rank in every line of it, and the movement stopped instantly. Complete deference. He had authority over both of them.
Good. She needed rank.
He stepped toward her instead, and stopped close enough that she had to tilt her chin up to hold his gaze.
He said something to the others. Short and low in the wolf tongue she didn't speak yet. Both of them went still in a way that felt like surprise, like he'd said something none of them were expecting.
Then he looked at her again.
She watched him make a decision. Watched it move through his expression, the working through it, the landing, the moment he went from figuring it out to having figured it out. His dark eyes settled on her face with a different quality than before.
He said two words, quiet enough that only she could hear them. The voice of someone handing over a fact rather than making a request.
"Come with me."
Aria looked at this wolf, his crest, his rain-dark hair, his eyes that had absolutely no idea what they had just agreed to, and felt something loosen in her chest for the first time in four months. Something that wasn't grief and wasn't the cold focused energy she had been running on since the night she dug that grave.
Something that felt, distantly, like the first breath after a very long time of holding it.
Good, she thought.
That's exactly what I needed.
She followed him into the dark without a word, her cracked ribs burning. Marcus's face still in the back of her mind the way it always was, not haunting her, but pushing her. The way it had pushed her every single day for four months.
She was not prey walking into a wolf's den.
She was the most
dangerous thing to cross this border in years.
They just didn't know it yet.

On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

He moaned against my throat as he drank, and the sound was devastating.

The CEO's Unspoken Love
Before I could answer, he moved closer, suddenly looming over me, his face inches from mine. I felt my breath caught, my lips parting in surprise.
"Then this is the price for speaking ill of me to others," he murmured, nipping my lower lip before claiming my mouth in a real kiss. It began as punishment but quickly transformed into something else entirely as I responded, my initial rigidity melting into compliance, then active participation.
My breathing accelerated, small sounds escaping my throat as he explored my body. His touches were both punishment and pleasure, drawing shudders from me that I thought he felt reverberating through his own body.
My nightgown had ridden up, his hands discovering more of mine with each caress. We were both lost in sensation, rational thought receding with each passing second...
