Introduction

My father sold me to a billionaire for fifty million dollars, but he didn’t know he was handing me straight to the most ruthless Alpha werewolf in existence.

He didn’t hesitate. I stood in the living room as he signed the contract, treating me like merchandise. No suitcase. No farewell. Just a completed transaction. I was shoved into a black luxury car and driven deep into a towering, watchful forest. I expected a cold, old CEO.

Instead, the doors opened to Alpha Kael Draven.

He stood at the top of the marble staircase, broad-shouldered and dangerously handsome. His eyes weren't human. They were liquid silver. The guards lining the hall lowered their heads in absolute terror. He walked toward me slowly, studying me like a predator inspecting his prey.

"You understand why you are here," he said, his voice a low rumble. "You are my bride."

He stepped too close. The air around him felt thick, electric, almost alive. Then he inhaled. Slowly. His entire body went still. A suppressed growl vibrated in his chest.

When his fingers brushed the skin of my neck, a sharp pulse of energy shot through me. Above us, the massive crystal chandelier trembled violently, crystals shattering against the marble floor.

Kael’s silver eyes darkened into something lethal. He grabbed my wrist, pulling me toward the moonlight. A glowing crescent mark was burning into my skin.

"You smell human," he whispered, his voice dropping into a dangerous, possessive growl. "But humans cannot trigger a mate mark."

He trapped me against the pillar, his massive frame caging me in. "What exactly are you?"

If Kael Draven was right, my parents hadn’t just sold me for money. They had delivered me to a supernatural world that had been hunting me all along. And now… the most dangerous Alpha in the city had just claimed me as his.

Chapter 1

My father sold me for fifty million dollars.

He didn’t hesitate.

I stood in the living room as he signed the contract, the scratch of his pen against paper echoing through the silent house. The two men sitting across from him watched calmly, like businessmen finalizing an investment.

Because that was exactly what this was.

An investment.

In me.

“Congratulations,” one of them said once the final signature dried. His voice was smooth and cold. “The Alpha appreciates your cooperation.”

The Alpha.

The word dropped into the room like a stone.

I leaned against the wall and crossed my arms. “What exactly is he buying?”

My mother stiffened immediately. “Alora. Enough.”

“No,” I said quietly. “If I’m being sold, I deserve to know why.”

The taller of the two men turned his gaze toward me. His eyes moved slowly over my face, my posture, my body—as if assessing merchandise.

“You will be married to Alpha Kael Draven.”

The name sent a ripple through the room.

Even I knew it.

Kael Draven was a billionaire CEO whose companies controlled half the city. No one ever saw him. No interviews. No public appearances. Yet politicians, bankers, and executives bent over backward to please him.

People lowered their voices when they said his name.

“And he needs to pay fifty million for a wife?” I asked.

My father’s jaw tightened. “Watch your tone.”

Behind me, a weak cough broke the tension.

Elira.

My older sister sat curled on the couch, her body trembling slightly with each breath. Three weeks ago she collapsed during dinner. A rare heart condition, the doctors said. Immediate surgery required.

The cost was impossible.

Unless you sold something valuable.

My mother rushed to Elira’s side, holding her hand. “Your sister deserves to live.”

I looked at them both.

“And I don’t?”

Silence answered me.

My father stood, adjusting his suit jacket like the matter was already finished. “You are not being killed. You are marrying into wealth. Be grateful you can finally contribute something useful to this family.”

Useful.

That word had followed me my entire life.

The third daughter in a house that wanted sons. The child who stayed home while the others went to private schools. The one who cooked, cleaned, and stayed invisible.

Now suddenly I was useful.

Because someone powerful wanted me.

My gaze moved slowly back to the men.

“When do I leave?”

The shorter one checked his watch.

“Now.”

Of course.

No suitcase. No farewell. Just a completed transaction.

Outside, a black luxury car waited at the curb like a silent witness.

I paused before stepping inside.

“Does he know what I look like?”

“Yes,” the man replied calmly. “He chose you personally.”

Something tightened in my chest.

Chosen.

Not random.

I slid into the back seat without another word.

The city disappeared faster than I expected.

Skyscrapers faded into suburbs. Suburbs dissolved into empty highways. Eventually even streetlights vanished, replaced by towering forests that swallowed the road.

The deeper we drove, the stranger the air felt.

Heavier.

Watchful.

“Why does he live this far from the city?” I asked.

“Privacy,” the driver said.

But the answer felt incomplete.

An hour later, iron gates appeared through the fog.

Massive.

Black.

Engraved with a crest of wolves circling a crown.

The gates opened automatically.

Beyond them stood a mansion that looked less like a home and more like a fortress carved from shadow. Dark stone walls. Towering windows. Guards posted at every entrance.

Power radiated from the place like heat.

The car stopped.

The moment I stepped out, something strange brushed across my skin.

Like invisible fingers.

A shiver crawled down my spine.

The doors opened.

And he appeared.

Alpha Kael Draven stood at the top of the marble staircase like he had been waiting.

He was taller than I expected. Broad-shouldered. Dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit. The guards lining the hall lowered their heads as he descended.

No one told them to.

They simply did.

That alone told me everything about the kind of man he was.

When he reached the bottom step, his eyes lifted to mine.

Silver.

Not gray.

Not blue.

Silver.

For a split second, something flashed across his face.

Shock.

Then it vanished.

“This is her?” he asked.

“Yes, Alpha.”

The title sounded disturbingly natural.

He walked toward me slowly, studying me like I was a puzzle.

“You understand why you are here,” he said.

“Yes,” I answered. “You needed a bride.”

A faint smile touched his lips.

“I do not need anything.”

“Then you wanted something.”

His eyes darkened slightly.

He stepped closer.

Too close.

The air around him felt thick, electric, almost alive.

Then he inhaled.

Slowly.

His entire body went still.

“You smell…” he murmured.

His brows pulled together.

“Unexpected.”

“I bathed,” I replied coolly.

A low sound rumbled in his chest.

It took me a moment to realize it was a suppressed growl.

The guards exchanged uneasy glances.

His hand lifted toward my neck.

Every instinct in my body screamed at me to move.

But I didn’t.

His fingers brushed my skin.

The reaction was immediate.

A sharp pulse of energy shot through me, powerful enough to steal the air from my lungs. Above us, the chandelier trembled, crystals clinking together.

Gasps echoed through the hall.

Alpha Kael Draven’s eyes darkened violently.

Silver swirling into something deeper.

“What are you?” he whispered.

My heart pounded.

“I’m human.”

He studied me for several seconds.

Then he shook his head slowly.

“No,” he said quietly.

“You’re not.”

My pulse quickened. “Then send me back.”

“That is no longer possible.”

He moved even closer, bracing one arm against the pillar beside me, trapping me in place without touching.

“You walked into my territory,” he said softly, “and something inside you answered me.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

His gaze dropped briefly to my throat before lifting again.

For the first time, I saw something break through his control.

Not anger.

Not dominance.

Recognition.

“You,” Alpha Kael Draven said slowly, “are going to be a problem.”

Warmth spread through my chest at his words, strange and unsettling.

Because I had felt it too.

That pulse.

That connection.

And suddenly I realized something far worse than being sold.

If Kael Draven was right…

My parents had not simply traded me for money.

They had delivered me to a place that had been waiting for me all along.
