Introduction
Rumor had it that Wellington was cold, ruthless, and completely uninterested in women. They said any woman who dared to cross him would face a terrible end.
A month later, when I woke up in his bed again, only one thought screamed through my mind: Run!
But no matter how far she runs, he will hunt her down. **There is nowhere on earth he won't find her.
Chapter 1
Matilda's POV
"Enough, please, let me go..."
I was on the verge of collapsing under the man's relentless assault, my nails digging into his broad shoulders. His features were sharp—a high-bridged nose, deep-set eyes—and he moved like a tireless machine, his hands braced on either side of me. The muscles in his arms were taut and powerful, his gaze a hazy storm of desire.
He captured my wrists, pinning them above my head against the headboard, and his thrusts deepened, each one pushing me to the brink. I could feel him trembling inside me, and as his pace quickened, spiraling out of control, a sudden, panicked thought broke through the fog.
"Don't... don't do it inside..." I gasped, my plea lost in the haze.
It was too late. No matter how hard I pushed against him, he held my waist in an iron grip, his body a reservoir of inexhaustible energy. He emptied himself into me, a hot, shuddering release that left me limp in his arms. I had barely caught my breath when he shifted, flipping me onto my stomach. I saw the desire in his eyes hadn't diminished; it had intensified. Before I could protest, he surged into me again.
The next morning, I woke to a body that ached in places I didn't know could ache. I turned my head and found the man still sound asleep beside me. He was strikingly handsome; even in slumber, he radiated an aloof, almost forbidding aura of cool detachment.
Yesterday, I had received a job offer from the law firm. Elated, I had called my best friend, Kerena Williams, to celebrate at a bar and had drunk myself into oblivion. Seeing me unable to walk straight, Kerena had handed me a key card, telling me she had booked a room for me. But in my drunken stupor, I had stumbled into the wrong one, leading to the scene that had just unfolded.
This was no time for regret, however. I had to leave. I couldn't be late for my first day of work.
Wincing against the soreness that radiated through my limbs, I managed to arrive at Apex Law Firm just before my scheduled time. The receptionist registered my arrival and directed me to a waiting area.
As I waited, my eyes scanned the environment, and my breath caught when my gaze landed on the wall of attorney portraits. There, among the photos, was the man from last night. In the picture, he was impeccably dressed in a suit, his expression sharp and focused—the very image of a corporate elite. He was a world away from the man who had frenziedly pulled me into his room and pressed me against the wall for a desperate kiss.
Memories of the night flooded back, a raw and breathless entanglement that had lasted until the first light of dawn.
"You must be the new hire, right?" A warm, feminine voice sounded beside me.
I turned to see a red-haired woman, likely in her late twenties, dressed in a sharp professional suit. She smiled and introduced herself, "I'm Ainsley Mitchell, a lawyer in the litigation department."
I nodded and politely extended my hand. "Matilda Hamilton. It's my first day. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Welcome to Apex Law Firm." Ainsley followed my gaze to the wall of portraits. "See someone you know?" she asked curiously.
I quickly shook my head. "No."
"Well, let me give you the tour." Ainsley was enthusiastic, pointing to the lawyers one by one. When her finger landed on the man from last night, she paused, then lowered her voice. "You'll want to be careful with this one, Wellington Learmond. He's your direct supervisor. And he's not easy to get along with."
Direct supervisor! I had slept with my direct supervisor. And a difficult one at that.
My stomach clenched. I couldn't believe my first day on the job had just presented me with such a massive complication. I forced my expression to remain neutral, swallowing the panic that rose in my throat. "What do you mean?"
Ainsley glanced around and, once certain no one was within earshot, she leaned in closer. "He's brilliant, and not bad to look at, but he's incredibly harsh with his subordinates. Especially the female ones. The rumor is he's completely uninterested in women. Three years ago, he fired a lawyer on the spot for trying to seduce him."
"That strict?" My heart hammered against my ribs. If he recognized me, the job I had just secured would vanish. The lighting in the hotel room had been dim, I reasoned. He probably wouldn't recognize me. It was a desperate, hopeful thought.
Ainsley shrugged. "Just keep your distance. He also comes from a powerful background. He's not someone we can afford to cross."
I managed a tight, awkward smile. The man she described was nothing like the one from last night. His ice-blue eyes had been churning with a wild, almost desperate hunger. That was hardly the look of a man uninterested in women.
I could still feel the weight of his breath on my skin as he had leaned in to kiss me, so heavy it almost stole the air from my lungs. As his lips moved over mine, he had grabbed the strap of my dress and pulled it down. The sight of my cleavage had made his eyes go wide. He had then pressed his body against mine, his tongue tracing a slow, agonizing path downward, from my ear to my neck, to the delicate line of my collarbone.
A tingling heat had spread through me, and a low moan escaped my lips. My response only seemed to excite him more. His hand snaked behind my back, unhooking my bra with a practiced flick of his fingers. He had kneaded my breasts with abandon, teasing my nipples between his fingers before taking one into his mouth. A jolt of electricity shot through me, and I moaned, my mind clouding over.
Hearing my soft cries, Wellington could no longer hold back. His hand slipped under my skirt, his fingers tracing the contours of my most intimate place. His touch started gently but grew more urgent, until he finally ripped my panties away, grasped my knees, and pulled them apart, thrusting his already hard erection against me. The raw intensity of the moment made me blush, and as I turned my head away, he filled me completely. The feeling of being stretched, of being so tightly possessed, made my whole body clench, and my hands instinctively wrapped around his waist.
"Matilda? Matilda!" Ainsley's voice pulled me from the memory.
"Sorry, what was that?" I asked, shaking my head clear.
"I said, the team lead wants to see you in his office." Ainsley said, her eyes now tinged with sympathy. "Wellington is in there, too. Good luck."
My heart seized, and a wave of foreboding washed over me. Had he recognized me? Was he about to confront me?
This was a job I had fought hard to get. I couldn't afford to lose it, not when I needed the money so desperately. My father, Preston Hamilton, had racked up a massive debt from gambling, and my mother, Gemma Murphy, had fallen ill from the stress of trying to pay it off. It was why I had to leave my stable job in finance and throw myself into the biggest law firm in Harmony City.
I shook my head. There was no point in worrying. It was time to face the music.

Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms

On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

What? No—wait… oh Moon Goddess, no.

We turn the corner, and the scent hits me like a punch to the chest—cinnamon and something impossibly warm. My eyes scan the room until they land on him. Tall. Commanding. Beautiful.
And then, just as quickly… he sees me.
His expression twists.
"Fuck no."
He turns—and runs.

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

My back hit the desk. Pain exploded through my skull.
"Girls like you don't get to dream about guys like Kai." Bella's breath was hot on my face. "You don't get to write pathetic love letters."
She shoved me again. Harder.
"Maybe if you weren't such a desperate little—"
I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
The door slammed.
I tried to stand. Couldn't. The room was spinning, fading to black.
