Introduction
Betting everything on an unbelievable prophecy, Julian sells his entire fortune before civilization collapses. Armed with the legendary Eternal Star Core, a priceless discount ability, and the Supreme Talent Warden of All Beasts, he enters the new world with one goal—
Become the strongest before anyone else even understands the rules.
As kingdoms rise, monsters evolve, and humanity fights for survival, Julian discovers that the greatest enemy isn't the apocalypse...
It's the people willing to kill for power.
Chapter 1
The old security door groaned like it hadn't been oiled since Reagan was president.
Julian Vance stepped into Unit 1005 wearing flip-flops and a scowl. The air inside hit him like a wall stale ramen, cheap cigarettes, and something sour he didn't want to identify. Takeout containers littered the floor. A few empty water bottles rolled lazily against his foot.
The cops had just cleared out. Marcus Dade the tenant who'd rented this unit for two years and whom Julian had met maybe twice had stepped off a curb into the path of a delivery truck that morning and never gotten back up.
"People. Always causing me headaches, even in death."
Julian pinched his nose, pulled a fat ring of brass keys from his pocket, and spun it twice around his finger out of habit. He'd planned to just call a cleanup crew, but the police wanted the landlord to sort through personal belongings first. Standard procedure.
He walked over to a battered computer desk. Stacks of loose paper sat next to a cheap plastic storage bin. Julian flipped through a few sheets scribbled nonsense about "class tiers" and "drop rates," like notes for some video game that would never get made.
"Writers. Always got violence rattling around in their heads."
He pressed a palm to the desk edge to slide the bin closer. Pain lanced through his fingertip.
Hiss
He yanked his hand back. A curled, rusted lip of metal along the desk's underside had opened a clean two-centimeter gash across his index finger. Blood welled up fast.
A few drops fell straight into the half-open storage bin.
At the bottom sat a stone the size of a fist not gold, not polished, riddled with pits and holes. It looked worse than gravel from a parking lot.
The blood didn't pool on the surface. It vanished into the stone like the stone was thirsty.
Julian grabbed a napkin and pressed it to the cut, eyes locked on the rock.
A dim, wine-dark glow bled out of the stone's pitted surface. It moved like it was alive, crawling up through the wound and into his skin.
A strange tingling worked up through his bones and straight into his skull.
Then, without warning, translucent dark-gold letters bloomed across the bottom corner of his vision.
[Supreme Relic: Eternal Star Core]
[Bond Status: Locked Sole Owner: Julian Vance]
[Privilege One: Death Reversal. When the host faces a certain-death event, time is forcibly rewound to restore the body. (Charges remaining: 1. Cooldown: Unknown)]
[Privilege Two: Divine Grace. Upon first connection to the core framework of "Godsfall," one Supreme-tier talent will be forcibly unlocked.]
[Privilege Three: Everything's 90% Off. Once per day, forcibly reduce the price of any single item in the Godsfall Marketplace to 10% of its listed value.]
Julian tore the napkin away. Not even a scar.
He rubbed his eyes hard. The gold letters stayed put, hovering at the edge of his sight no matter where he turned his head.
"Hallucinating. Or I need a tetanus shot."
He crouched and dug through the bin. The stone was gone. In its place sat a black hardcover diary with a combination lock.
Julian grabbed a kitchen knife, jammed it into the lock, and cracked it open. The little latch went skittering off the window with a sharp tink.
He opened to the first page. The handwriting was frantic, gouged so deep it nearly tore through the paper.
[I got a second chance. Thank God thank whatever's out there. I, Marcus Dade, actually came back. One month before Godsfall hits.]
[Last time, that snake Corbin Teague sold me out, stripped every year I had left, and I starved to death in Sector Zero. Not this time. I've got the Eternal Star Core now. This time I rule.]
[Clock's ticking. 6 PM, June 1st Godsfall takes over Earth by force. Every dollar in every account gets zeroed out. But thirty minutes before the servers open, the Marketplace opens a real-currency exchange window. $10,000 buys 1 Life Point.]
Life is currency now. Gear costs life. Skills cost life. Coming back from the dead costs life. Run out of life, you're gone for good.
[I need cash. All of it, however I can get it. Loan sharks, credit lines, family, strangers doesn't matter. If I hold out until 5:30 PM and convert everything, every creditor chasing me becomes a ghost chasing a dead man's shadow.]
Julian's fingers stopped mid-turn.
His eyes flicked to his phone.
May 29th. 2:15 PM.
Three days until June 1st.
He dragged over a folding chair, sat, and pulled a crumpled pack of cigarettes from his pocket. Took three tries to get the lighter going.
Blue-gray smoke curled through the wrecked apartment.
"So this guy came back from the dead with some kind of artifact. Brought it back and immediately got flattened by a truck because he wasn't watching the crosswalk. And now it's mine. Free of charge."
He exhaled a slow ring.
"Three days from now, the world ends. Not fire and brimstone worse. Money turns to nothing. The only window to convert it into something that matters is thirty minutes before that happens."
Any sane person would've laughed and tossed the diary in the trash.
But the dark-gold text still flickered at the corner of Julian's eye. That thing was real. He could feel it an old, cold weight sitting somewhere behind his ribs.
Julian Vance wasn't a sane person, not by the metrics that mattered here. He was Meridian City's most notorious slumlord, a man who'd clawed his way up through condemned buildings and demolition payouts until he owned thirteen rental units and one detached mansion in the good part of town. He wore flip-flops to closings. He carried a thermos of gas-station coffee to million-dollar signings. His single greatest joy in life was watching his account balance tick upward on the first of every month.
A businessman's brain. A landlord's gut instinct.
Show him a 300% return and he'd bet the farm because the farm was the whole point.
Julian ground out his cigarette, pulled out his phone, and scrolled to a contact saved as "Denny shady realtor, but fast."
Five rings before it picked up.
"Well if it isn't Mr. Vance himself. What's up, some tenant give you trouble again?"
"Denny. I'm selling everything. All thirteen units, plus the place up in Harbor Heights."
Three full seconds of dead air. Then the unmistakable clatter of a chair going over.
"Julian, you been drinking? That's thirteen apartments at current Meridian prices that's pushing two hundred million combined. And the Harbor Heights house doesn't even have comps, it's one of a kind. What's going on, you running from something?"
"Cut the questions. I need cash, fastest possible closing. Three days max no, two days."
"Two days? Nobody pulls two hundred million in cash in two days, Julian. Banks alone would choke on that timeline."
"Package deal. Half price. One hundred million total, taxes and fees included, you handle paperwork. One condition: cash, wired immediately."
Denny's breathing turned ragged on the other end. Buying two-hundred-million-dollar real estate for half that, then flipping it that wasn't a deal, that was a lottery ticket with someone else's name scratched off.
"You're serious."
"I don't joke about money. If you can't move fast enough, I'll find someone in this city who can. There's no shortage of buyers circling my listings."
"No no, wait! Give me one hour. Vivian Ashcroft's been eyeing that Harbor Heights property for a year, I'll call her myself. And our firm will pool cash for the thirteen units personally. Where are you?"
"Unit 1005, Northgate Apartments. Bring your finance people. I want to see money, not paperwork."
Less than thirty minutes later, tires screeched outside.
A black Maybach and a cargo van idled at the curb. Denny, sweating through his collar, led a small army of suits into the elevator. In front of them all walked a young woman in a tailored suit and heels that clicked like a countdown of their own.
Vivian Ashcroft. Only daughter of the Ashcroft Group, the biggest private wealth firm in Meridian City.
Julian opened the door.
Vivian's nose wrinkled at the smell before her eyes even landed on him a landlord in loud beach shorts, standing in a wrecked apartment like he owned the building. Which, technically, he did.
"Mr. Vance. I hear you're in a hurry to liquidate."
"That's right. Name your price on Harbor Heights. Fast cash, flexible number."
"Fifty million. Wired within two hours." Vivian's offer landed at least thirty percent under market.
"Deal." Julian didn't blink.
Something flickered behind Vivian's eyes surprise. She'd come prepared to haggle up to seventy. This felt too easy, which made her more suspicious, not less.
"Mr. Vance, if you don't mind me asking is there a zoning change coming? Inside information on the market?"
"Miss Ashcroft, you buy the house, I take the money. You'll understand why in three days." Julian took the stack of contracts Denny shoved into his hands, skipped straight to the signature page, and signed without reading a word.
Vivian studied him a beat longer, then turned to her assistant. "Wire it."
Two hours later, Julian's phone buzzed with a string of bank alerts. Fifty million from Vivian. Fifty-five million from the pool of buyers Denny had scrambled together. A hundred and five million dollars, safely landed.
Denny clutched a folder of deeds and grinned so wide his face folded in half. "Pleasure doing business, Julian! You get wind of anything else this good, you call me first, alright?"
"There won't be a next time." Julian pocketed his phone and tucked the black diary inside his jacket.
At the door, Vivian paused. "I hope you spend that money on whatever it is you're really after, Mr. Vance. The water in this city runs deep. Don't drown."
"Appreciate the concern, Miss Ashcroft. Try to hold onto that composure. You'll want it in three days."
He smiled all teeth.
The apartment went quiet again.
Julian stood at the window and watched the Maybach's taillights fade down the block.
A hundred million dollars sitting in his account. Enough, under normal circumstances, to burn through several lifetimes of excess. Now it was just an entry fee.
Over the next day and a half, Julian went scorched-earth.
He mortgaged what he could and sold what he couldn't. Cars. Watches. A wine collection he'd been too sentimental to touch. All of it, dumped at fire-sale prices to anyone with cash in hand today.
Word spread fast through Meridian City Julian Vance had lost his mind, or lost a bet to the wrong people, and was liquidating everything to cover some catastrophic debt.
By the evening of May 31st, Julian sat alone in the empty living room of the Harbor Heights mansion. Tomorrow it would belong to someone else.
A laptop and a stack of bank cards sat on the coffee table in front of him. Two days of relentless liquidation had put $140 million in liquid cash under his control.
Less than twenty hours remained until the exchange window the diary described.
He checked, one last time, that every transfer limit on every account had been maxed out.
"Ten thousand dollars for one Life Point. A hundred and forty million comes to fourteen thousand points."
He ran it through the calculator app anyway, like the math might change. It sounded like a fortune. In a world about to be ruled entirely by Life Points, it might turn out to be pocket change.
He touched the corner of his eye. The dark-gold text was still there, patient and unmoving.
"Eternal Star Core. Ninety percent off."
A slow smile crossed his face.
That discount privilege was his ace in the hole. Where anyone else paid full price, he paid a dime on the dollar. Ten times the buying power, conjured from nothing.
The clock kept ticking.
June 1st. 5:20 PM.
The sky went dark without warning not stormclouds, not dusk, but a total, absolute black that swallowed every source of light on the horizon.
Streetlights died. Headlights vanished mid-beam, snuffed out like someone had reached down and pinched a candle.
The entire planet held its breath.
Julian stood at the window, listening to his own pulse hammer in his ears.
5:25 PM.
A voice mechanical, flat, utterly without warmth detonated inside the mind of every human being on Earth at once.
[WARNING: Planetary coordinates locked.]
[Natural law override in progress. Physics is being rewritten.]
[Godsfall digitization sequence: INITIATED.]
[30 minutes until forced global teleportation.]
The voice faded. In its place, a pale blue light bloomed across the darkness in front of Julian's eyes.
A countdown hung suspended in the light: 29:59.
Below it, a single golden button: [Marketplace Limited-Time Exchange Window]
Julian didn't hesitate. He reached out with his mind and pressed it.
The light rippled like water and split open into a storefront.
Red text blazed across the top:
[Current Exchange Rate: $10,000 = 1 Life Point]
[Notice: Window closes in 30 minutes. After teleportation, all real-world currency becomes worthless.]
Julian checked his balance. $140,000,000.
He typed the full amount into the exchange field.
[Detected funds: $140,000,000]
[Convert entire balance to Life Points?]
"Convert it. Every last cent."
He said it through gritted teeth. Everything he'd built in the first half of his life, poured into a hole he couldn't see the bottom of.
[Exchange complete.]
[Current balance: 14,000 Life Points.]
Julian stared at the number glowing in the corner of the display and let out a slow breath.
Step one, done. The hardest part.
Now time to see what this Marketplace was actually hiding.
He opened the [Featured Items] tab.
Icons flooded his vision, row after row.
[Minor Experience Elixir] Grants 100 XP on use. Price: 10 Life Points.
[Iron-Tier Weapon Crate] Random Iron-tier weapon. Price: 50 Life Points.
[Cheap Effigy Charm] Blocks one fatal hit, grants 1 second of invincibility. Price: 500 Life Points.
Julian scrolled past all of it. Trash, beneath consideration.
He jumped straight to the bottom, where purple and gold light pulsed off the high-tier listings.
[Epic Bloodline Awakening Stone] Price: 50,000 Life Points.
[Legendary City Charter Token] Price: 200,000 Life Points.
Way out of reach. He could've sold every building he'd ever owned twice over and still come up short.
Then his eye caught something a dull gray scroll tucked in the corner of the store, easy to miss.
[Supreme Authority: Dual Talent Awakening Scroll]
[Tier: Supreme]
[Description: Bypasses the standard system restriction. Grants two additional talent slots upon first awakening. (Standard players receive only one.)]
[Price: 100,000 Life Points]
A hundred thousand points. In real dollars, a billion. A number no single person on the planet could produce not without draining a national treasury.
But Julian had the Eternal Star Core.
This one.
He fixed his focus on the gray scroll.
"Activate: Everything's 90% Off."
Somewhere behind his ribs, the ancient weight of the core shivered. An invisible pressure rippled outward, bending the light of the storefront in front of him.
[Supreme override detected.]
[Item price successfully altered.]
The scroll's price tag flickered, distorted, and resettled.
~~100,000~~ 10,000 Life Points.
"Buy it."
[10,000 Life Points deducted. Purchase complete.]
[Item transferred to temporary inventory.]
Julian looked at the 4,000 points left in his balance and clenched his fist.
Ten minutes left on the clock.
Outside, Meridian City had come apart at the seams. Sirens wailed. People screamed. Cars piled into each other in the pitch-black streets.
Everyone had heard that voice at once. This wasn't an asteroid or a bomb the whole species had just been dragged, kicking, into a game where losing meant
dying for real.
The wealthy scrambled to liquidate, to wire, to convert but the banking system buckled under the weight of every panicked transaction hitting at once. Millions of people could only watch the countdown bleed away, watching fortunes they'd spent lifetimes building turn to nothing in real time.

But when that same stranger's doctor appeared at my door, when twenty million dollars exchanged hands over a fake perfume bearing my secret identity, and when Damon's gray eyes locked onto mine with recognition I couldn't afford, I realized my carefully hidden life as the legendary perfumer Vera was colliding with a pregnancy that could cost me everything.
Could I protect my babies from the husband plotting my death, hide my true identity from the Alpha who's been hunting me for years, and reclaim the freedom I'd buried along with my dreams—even if it means standing alone against the wolves who see me as nothing more than a womb to be used and discarded?

They consume you.

When frost meets fire, the world shatters. She was never meant to leave her tower. He was never meant to find her. But destiny doesn’t bow to kings or care for cages and now the question burns through them both: Can Bella have her Beast? Or will the girl of snow melt in the heat of his desire?
.
"I’m keeping her."
"What?"
Before I can react, he scoops her up. Her small body fits easily in the cradle of his talons. For a split second, she looks startled, but not afraid. Her hand rests against one scaled finger, and she stares up at him with that same curious wonder, as though she’s already forgotten she was ever meant to fear me.
"Put her down," I try to command, panic threading through my thoughts. "You’ll hurt her."
"She’s ours," the beast insists, possessive and fierce. "Our snowflake."
