Why didn't I? Because I never felt disgust towards him, even when I first saw him. "Why did you show your care towards me, when you knew very well that this marriage is nothing but a sham. Why did you give me a hope tha.... that I can also be loved? Why?" he roared again while crashing his fist on the wall right beside my ear.
Was I scared?
No.... I wasn't....
But I hated this vulnerability of his. I never faked my emotions towards him. Then, why was it so hard to admit that I....... I love him??????
Chapter 1
Pearl’s hands shook badly while reading the DNA test report between her best friend, Emily, and her father, Alpha Kyle. The report showed the Emily and Kyle had blood relatives. She also had another DNA test report between her and Alpha Kyle which showed that they had no blood relationship.
“No… no…. dad…. So…. Something is wrong…. H.. how could this be? Som…. Something is not right here…. Yeah… som…. Something is really not right here…. We shou… should do these tests again.” Pearl pleaded in a trembling voice while looking at those two pieces of papers in her hands.
How it could be possible? She was the princess of werewolves and this was what everyone told her as soon as she started understanding things. She was Alpha Kyle and Luna Venessa’s daughter, and the future king of werewolves, Ryder Thronbill’s baby sister. How could she had not any relationship with them.
“I am sorry, Pearl…. But this is true…. I … I conducted these tests almost five times before showing you this.” Alpha Kyle replied to Pearl in a low and sympathetic tone. The whole family was startled by the revelation but they couldn’t change the facts.
“But how it happened?” Pearl asked him in the same trembling and choked voice, tears streaming down continuously, staining her beautiful makeup-less face. Her eyes were still glued on those papers but now she couldn’t see a word. Her vision was blurred and her nose was completely blocked.
They were in the living room of the palace. Apart from the royal family, Pearl’s mate, Jonah and his whole family was also present there. They called Pearl there when she was trying her bridal gown as she had her mating ceremony the day after tomorrow.
“I conducted a thorough investigation, Pearl…. It…. It turned out that someone swapped you with Emily in the hospital nursery after your birth.” Ryder answered her in a calm tone though. “Bu… but Emily is … is six months older than me.” Pearl immediately protested and looked at Ryder this time, still her vision blurred because of tears.
Ryder shook his head negatively. “No, Pearl…. The orphanage where Emily grew up… they changed her birthday… You know that Mom and Dad were in the human world at that time, and Mom gave birth to Emily in a human hospital back then. She was unconscious because of exhaustion and that was why she didn’t recognize her daughter when they brought you to her.” Ryder explained, and Pearl felt that someone had punched right into her chest.
She felt her knees went softened and she immediately stumbled but regained her composure immediately. In a short span of few minutes, she became an orphan from a princess. It was hard for her to process. She was now breathing heavily while clutching those papers tightly in her grip.
She can’t even fight back to them, but this was the harsh reality. She looked at her parents with a helpless and painful expression on her face. “Mom….. Dad…. What I am supposed to do now? Tell me…. What should I do?” she asked them in a choked tone while crying bitterly.
“I am sorry, Pearl….. I am really sorry…. You know how much I crave for family love and affection….. b.. but I never wished something like this. It… it was me.. w… who asked them to… to condu… conduct this test… b.. because I have more resemblance with Mom than you…. B.. but I never thought th.. that it would be like this… I am sorry.” Emily cried while apologizing furiously and was about to fall on her knees when Luna Venessa immediately pulled her up into her embrace.
“Why are you sorry, love… this is not your fault…it.. it’s my fault… if.. if I would have seen you before I fainted…. You wouldn’t have to suffer so much…. My baby…. my precious baby.” Luna Vanessa cried with her while holding Emily tightly as if Emily would vanish into thin air if she loosened her grip on her.
“No Mom… don’t say like this…. Please.” Emily immediately comforted Luna Vanessa while glancing at Pearl who was still glued on her place and had a blank look as she didn’t know how to react now. The mother who held her like this all her life, and pampered her, now was embracing someone elses….. not someone else…. But Pearl’s best friend instead of Pearl.
“Mom.” Pearl called her in a choked tone after some time. Emily was now gloating internally. She always hated Pearl because of her status as princess. Now, Pearl had fallen from that status, and this gave her an immense pleasure.
“Enough, Pearl….. there is nothing that any of us can do a thing in this matter. We have decided to announce Emily’s status as the real princess tomorrow.” Alpha Kyle announced to her their decision harshly. Pearl felt struck by lighting. She couldn’t even breath now.
“You have to move out now so that Emily can take her right place which originally belonged to her. We are not holding anything against you because you are also a victim in this scenario. But you have to leave everything that originally belonged to Emily.” He said further in a cold and firm tone.
Pearl fell on the ground at that very instant as she had no strength remained in her body. She couldn’t believe that the man who never even raised his voice on her, suddenly became so cold towards her. Almost half-an-hour before, she was preparing for her wedding happily, completely immersed in her small and beautiful world, and now……..
“Ca… can I s… stay for two more days, Dad….. a… after my m… mating ceremony…. I… I will leave with Jonah.” She requested her father in a cracked tone. Her heart skipped a beat when he looked at her with a complicated expression on his face.
Her breath ragged when she saw all of them sharing a look with each other, making her having a bad premonition. She looked at Jonah who was now looking at Emily. “He isn’t thinking about rejecting us now, is he?” She asked my wolf, Maya, in a frantic tone, but her eyes widened in shock when she didn’t get any response from Maya. It seemed that Maya already got the situation and retreated deep inside her heart.
“Uhhhh… the thing is Pearl that we decided that Emily will take Jonah as her chosen mate.” her father replied to her this time in a firm tone, and she felt that someone had punched hard her chest, knocking the whole air present her lungs out.
She just blinked while processing what he just said. “You can’t deny that you enjoyed everything that belonged to Emily, Pearl…. So in order to pay her back…. You only need to accept Jonah’s rejection.” her mother said to her in a firm tone this time.
“B… but why Jonah… why my mate…. she… she will have her mate somewhere…a … and I am sure .. th.. that she will meet him soon… why Jonah?” Pearl immediately questioned in panicked tone. Her heart was now thundering hard against her ribcage and she could hear her own heartbeat now.
“Because we don’t know what his rank is and Jonah is the future beta. We agreed your mating with him because you didn’t need to leave the pack after that…. Now the situation has changed. We don’t want Emily to go away somewhere else.” She immediately replied to Pearl in a cold and firm tone this time.
Pearl opened her mouth to retort once again but the sternness on their faces was enough to indicate that they would not waver. She immediately looked at Jonah in panicked as she wanted him to stay with her in this situation. He also had a cold face right now which baffled her.
“I also want this, Pearl…. I am destined to mate with a princess, not with a commoner.” He said to Pearl in a cold tone, and she felt that someone had pulled away the ground under her feet. She stumbled hard and almost fell, but somehow managed to save her fall again even though her head was spinning hard.
Tears blurred my vision again. “It’s settled then…. Jonah will reject you, and you will accept her rejection without throwing a fuss, Pearl…. Emily will replace you in the mating ceremony, and you will leave the pack after the ceremony. We are not blaming you for what happened back then, Pearl, but this is what you owe to Emily,” her father commanded to Pearl in a cold tone, stating the reason of their decision, but Pearl’s mind was completely numb now.
“Jonah.” She heard her brother calling Jonah, but her eyes were now glued on her mate…. the only person who was destined to make her feel secure and love her for the rest of her life was now ready to reject her just because she was now not a princess.

Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

"Maybe if you weren't such a desperate little—"
I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
The door slammed.
I tried to stand. Couldn't. The room was spinning, fading to black.

That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.

Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
