The Father Of My Twins Wants Me Back

Sitting in front of the office desk was Sofie, a twenty-six-year-old beautiful young lady.

She was the main jeweler of the Merx company.

She was dressed in a white gown, which brought out her delicate features.

Her long red hair gracefully rested on her back and on her shoulders, while her elbows were resting on the desk before her, with her chin resting on the palms of her hands.

She looked troubled. Her pair of emerald eyes were filled with uncertainty, and she could feel her heart pounding hard against her chest.

“Should I tell him about this?”. Sofie asked herself, but could feel her hands tremble at the thought of that.

A second later, she found herself staring at her flat stomach, before she began to feel it with her palm.

Sofie bit her lower lip. “No. I can't let him know”. She muttered, as his words from that day replayed inside her head over and over again.

“I need a stand-in wife, and you are the perfect person for it. Money is not going to be a problem. As long as you can perform your duty perfectly, I am going to make sure you live your life in comfort”.

That was the deal. The same deal that took place 3 years ago.

Back then, Sofie was pressured with life. Her mother was suffering a terminal illness, while her little brother had to stop attending school completely because they had no money.

Their father had divorced their mother and remarried his mistress, sparing no second to bring his mistress back home along with her daughter.

As for Sofie, her little brother and her mother, they were forced to survive the cruel world on their own.

With no help from anywhere, Sofie assisted her mother in a local restaurant where they worked part-time.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck and her mother's body began to fail. According to the doctor, he said, “If your mother keeps on overthinking, she might be in serious danger”.

Those words alone were enough to shake Sofie’s heart.

She could not bear to lose her mother, so she did all she could so that her mother was going to forget about her father. But to no avail.

Her mother's condition worsened, leaving her no choice but to search for real work, in order to raise enough money for her mother's treatment.

And, that was when she crossed paths with him. Alexander Maximus.

Sofie technically didn't cross paths with him.

She was actually called to Alexander's office a week after she applied for a job as a jeweler.

The deal was simple.

She was asked by Alexander to sit, which she did. And then, he spared no second to place a certain document on top of the desk, while taking multiple glances at the wristwatch he was wearing.

Alexander's action made it clear to Sofie that he was in a hurry and did not need someone as insignificant as her, wasting his time.

Feeling a bit hesitant, Sofie quickly picked up the document after Alexander's eyes met her eyes and then shifted briefly to the document.

She read the content written on the document and was shocked out of her skin upon realizing that he wanted her as his stand-in wife.

She never knew the reason behind that.

Also, never in a million years did she think that something like that could happen to her. But there it was, right in front of her.

Of course, she did not want to agree to it, but the money was tempting.

It was a huge sum and would assist her mother in recovering.

She recalled asking him: “Why me?”.

And with his pair of hazel eyes locked into her, he gave her his reply: “You are the perfect match”.

Unknown to her, Alexander had done some digging after she initially applied to work for his company.

He also did some research concerning the other ladies.

But, it turned out that the most desperate one was Sofie. She needed the money to save her mother's life, and there was no way she would reject his offer.

Alexander was right about that, because Sofie didn't think much about it and agreed to become his stand-in wife.

And so, within a week, their marriage was registered and Sofie was introduced to Alexander's father and his Grandpa.

From her encounter with Alexander’s father and his Grandpa, she understood that they were the ones who had always nagged Alexander and made him get a wife.

But they had no clue that she wasn't Alexander's true lover but only a stand-in.

Just like that, three years passed in the blink of an eye, and most people barely knew her identity as Alexander's wife. Not even her own mother.

All they knew was that Alexander was married. And that was it.

Right now, there is a month left before the end of the contract she has signed.

But, there was a problem. She was pregnant, and this was something she had not signed for.

A sigh of defeat escaped Sofie's lips, and feeling dejected about her situation, she rested her head on her desk.

Alexander did not want a child. At least, not from her.

It was stated there in the contract agreement that they weren't going to consummate their marriage.

And if there was a case Alexander accidentally got her pregnant, he was going to take the child away from her, and she was never going to have a connection with him or her.

Sofie didn't want that to happen.

She could not bear the feeling of being apart from her own flesh and blood.

Neither did she have the heart to abort the innocent one in her womb.

He or she did nothing wrong.

If anything, it was her fault for letting Alexander have his way with her.

It was a month ago. Sofie had no clue what happened behind the scene, but all she saw was a drunken Alexander who returned to the mansion late in the night.

It was rare to see him like that, because she believed he never drank.

Well, what she never anticipated was that Alexander was not actually drunk, but he had been drugged.

It was aphrodisiac.

Alexander's entire body was hot, and he was drenched in sweat and looked in pain.

Sofie did all she could to help him, but could not.

Alexander needed something else, and that was the one thing she did not realize she was going to end up giving him.

Her body.

She figured in her heart that since Alexander returned home rather than go to a hospital after he was drugged… he had something going on in his heart for her.

Unfortunately, she was wrong.

When morning came, the first thing he asked her to take after realizing his mistake was a contraceptive pill.

And two weeks after that, Alexander made sure to take her to a hospital. He wanted to confirm if she was pregnant. Though none of the results came out positive. That was why he didn't care anymore.
