Introduction
âTouch me again, Julian, and Iâll stop holding it all in.â
Seraphinaâs voice trembled, shivers of raw need coursing through her veins.
Julianâs tone dropped low, rough and dangerous.
âThen stop holding it in, little heiress. You ran once- try it again, and Iâll chain you to my bed this time.â
~
After her fatherâs sudden death, Seraphinaâs inheritance was stolen by her stepsister, and she was cast out into the cold.
Five years later, sheâs back from the brink to reclaim her empire.
But fate has bound her to Julianâthe man she swore to escape. A crucial diary, the key to everything, is in his hands.
Worse yet, Julian is the man who shared her one reckless night five years ago, the father of her hidden genius child...Or was it his twin brother she fell for?
A revenge and love story, gambled on marriage, unfolds amidst family secrets and power struggles.
And what Julian demands? Her complete, unguarded sincerity.
Chapter 1
âCareful, Sera. You are drinking too much than you can take.â Sheila shouted over the loud speaker, but Seraphina was just getting started.
That was the point. She intended to be reckless in this sinful club tonight.Â
She wanted to drown out everything. The sound of her fatherâs coffin lowering into the earth earlier today, the echo of her stepmomâs voice claiming her fatherâs years of hardwork as hers, the blank message screen where her motherâs name hadnât appeared in days.
So, she let the music bruise her ears. Let the glass burn her throat. Let herself stop being the girl who was supposed to inherit the world, and instead become a stranger in heels and a black dress that didnât belong to grief.
Seraphina downed the rest of the drink in one go, and slammed it on the counter, blinking through the sting.
It didnât help. The ache was still there. She filled her glass cup again, then leaned across the bar and whispered into Sheilaâs ears. âI will be back.â
She stood, staggering a little bit, glass in hand. She didnât wait as Sheila âmummiedâ her with words of cautions from behind.
She didnât know where she was going, she just⊠âAhââ
She bumped into a hard chest, spilling her drink on him and slipping off the floor. But before she could fall, strong arms caught her, holding her- slanted body tight in his arms.
Seraphina had closed her eyes out of the fear of falling, but then, she eventually flicked them open to stare into the most beautiful set of gray eyes she had ever seen in her entire life. His scent drifted to her nostrils-- it was as addictive as he looked. But his eyes- they were so cold and empty they scared her.
Yet, she was too captivated to walk away. âThis moment might not last,â so she stared.
The faint scar near his jawline, the way his dark shirt clung to his chest, the diamond necklace on him- everything about him whispered money and danger.
âYou want this to last?â His deep baritone voice swallowed her ears as he gently brought her up to steady her.
âWhat?â Seraphina blinked, she hadnât realized she had said that out loud.
âIf you want this to last, make me an offer.â The strikingly tall handsome stranger in all black said to her. She swallowed. Her eyes fell to his tattooed arms.Â
âCan I buy you a drink?â she asked impulsively.
He tilted his head, a light smile playing on his lips. âYou already owe me one. You spilled yours on me.â
Seraphina glanced at the faint stain on his shirt and laughed- it came out nervous, and breathless. The stranger didnât stop looking.
Minutes blurred. They sat together in a booth tucked away from the noises.Â
There was something about his stillness that drew her in- like he was built from discipline, like every movement cost him a thought.
âYou donât talk much,â she said, tracing her finger along her glass.
âI only talk when I have something worth saying.â
âAnd do you?â
He looked at her, his gaze piercing but not readable. âIâm saying it right now.â
Her lips parted, a breath catching between them. âAnd what are you saying?â
âThat you should leave before you regret staying.â
But she didnât move. âToo late. You amuse me.â
The air between them thickened instantly.Â
He reached forward and brushed a strand of hair from her face, his touch slow and sensual. Seraphina felt all the hairs on her body stood at just his light touch.
And then she couldnât help but imagine- What if he was really touching her? What if he was doing- unthinkable things to her? She had no doubt that he could make her forget her name. She didnât want to talk anymore.
She wanted to feel.Â
âYou want something from me, say it.â His sudden assertiveness shocked her. But the control and dominance behind his tone made her stomach flutter.
âI want you to take my pain away, Zeus.â
His gray eyes darkened, then his hand darted forward to touch her bare thigh. âZeus?â He asked, voice amused.
âYeah. Zeus. You look like a god.â That did it. His hold on her naked thigh tightened and she unknowingly released a soft gasp.
He leaned forward- his lips touched her ear skin as he whispered huskily, âWell, pretty, can we get out of here right now?â Her rise in breathing was the answer he needed.
He led her to the elevator and immediately they got in, his lips attacked hers. She gasped into his mouth, craving things that she had never had the courage of exploring before.
Seraphinaâs back met the mirror. His hand found the panel beside her head as he deepened the kiss. Then he pulled back. She yearned.
For a suspended heartbeat, he simply watched her, her fragile hands tugging at his shirt as if begging for more. The gray in his eyes had deepened to smoke, like he was fighting something invisible.Â
âTell me to stop,â he murmured.
She didnât. Couldnât. Her voice was a trembling whisper as she said, âIf I wanted you to stop, we wouldnât be here, Zeus.â
Those words ruined him. âFuck-me.â He grabbed her hand and led her out as the elevator opened. When they finally got inside a room, he shut the door behind them and turned to her.
He didnât talk much while undressing her. But he made sure she felt every movement of his fingers. What intrigued her the most was that he didnât break eye-contact.
When they were both finally naked, Seraphina stared at his body that looked like God had a special time sculpting.Â
âYou are so unreal.â Again, the alcohol was pushing out the dirtiest part of her. The stranger didnât say more. He lifted her and gently dropped her on the large bed.Â
For the first time in Seraphinaâs twenty one years of life, she was strongly willing for a man to cross the line with her. And she let him.Â
The night was long and reviving, until Seraphina woke up the next morning to an empty space beside her. But his phone was on the bedside drawer.
She turned lazily, her vision still hazy, and caught the message on the screen before it dimmed:
âHis corpse has been disposed. You should leave now.â
Seraphina stilled. Her instinct wasnât wrong afterall. But she had been blinded by lust. The irresistible stranger that she had just spent all night losing her virginity too was a devil.
She didnât know where he was currently- whether he was in the bathroom or outside. But Seraphina didnât wait to find out. She slipped into her cloth, grabbed her heels in her hands, and ran out.

He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
The Family Sacrifice
I simply said one word: "Okay."
My parents and Gilbert were stunned. They rushed to have me sign the voluntary donation form, afraid Iâd change my mind.
Some days later, they sent me to the operating room.
Dad said, "Yvonne will finally be saved. We're so proud of you."
Mom said, "After the surgery, we'll make it up to you."
Gilbert looked tenderly at Yvonne and said, "When you're better, where should we travel?"
What they didn't know was that the day I agreed, I'd just received my diagnosis, stage four cancer. Three months to live.
As I lay on the cold operating table, as the anesthesia began to take effect, I only wanted to know one thing:
If I die on this operating table, will they regret it?
He Thought I'd Never Leave
When he said he was being bullied, I believed him. When he kissed me on that rooftop, I thought he felt the same. When he asked me to transfer schools with him, I said yes without hesitation.
Then I heard him bragging to his friends: "She'd save her first time for me. Hell, she'd still be thinking of me on her wedding night."
The bullying was staged. The kiss meant nothing. He just wanted me goneâso his new girl could feel more comfortable.
He thought I'd beg. He thought I'd cry. He thought I'd never actually leave.
I left the country.
And ran straight into his stepbrother.
I Died While They Threw Her a Party
Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.
When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.
My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"
"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."
They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.
I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.
But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was meâthe backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test resultsâI have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
