Chapter 1
The cafes were treasure troves, as infinitely full of life as spring basins, where in the realm
of the sirens, they said, were poured with the same serpentine tears of the Goddess Isis,
and of which Mary Magdalene had drunk. Maria always was a mermaid different from her
sisters, she used to collect ancient books when she visited the world of humans, and she
walked the streets looking for bookstores as if it were of vital importance. She used to look
for those with indelible ink to continue reading once she could leave them at a rented
house near the beach, where Deisy used to go only to read and lie down on the bed.
She, like her sisters, was wealthy, born into a privileged family, her mother a direct
descendant of the royal mermaid family owned large territories, castles, and mansions under
the sea and also in various cities on the surface, and her father, who was a professional
swimmer in the human world, had accumulated a great fortune. Deisy and her sisters enjoyed
living in the depths, but sometimes Deisy longed to discover what it would feel like to live in
the human world and go with her legs everywhere.
Deisy started distance education at the University last summer, her need to be close to
knowledge and history books made her study Art History. Her sister Seila did not go to the
University, she was a professional stylist in the mermaid world, admired and known for her
stylish and chic makeups she made for the upper class mermaids. Yryhnna, our oldest sister,
was married to Alan, a merman and guardian of the forbidden realm of the Dark Waters, as a
guardian he was doing quite well and they had acquired new possessions near the Greek
Islands, I understood soon Yryhnna and Alan would move far away, as soon as he was assigned
as the guardian of the sea in another location.
I hurried to take the eyeliner and do an Egyptian eyeliner on my eyes, while Yryhnna's
melodious voice, amidst laughter, called me, urging me to hurry. She was dressed in a bright
red crop top that highlighted her white skin and contrasted with her ruby red lips and blue
eyes, her long black hair fell straight to her hips. Yryhnna was without a doubt the most
beautiful mermaid I had ever seen, she was 30 years old, but everyone believed she was less
than 20. Something we sirens possess in longevity, our bodies produce collagen and
glutathione in inhuman amounts, so it takes centuries for the passage of time to show, even
my mother looked like our older sister.
-
Hurry little flower - she told me with a laugh - Or you'll arrive when all the boys are taken
-
Is that the most fun part of the party? - I asked, changing my coral bra for a coral crop top,
which highlighted the shape of my breasts, and fell in a cascade of small, shiny pearls that
covered my entire back, ribs, and navel. I took a black leather skirt and kept it in my bag
because when we transformed, I would need to wear it.
-
Maybe it's the most fun if you're looking for quick s*x - she said, winking at me
-
Yryhnna! - I shouted, narrowing my eyes and sticking my tongue out
-
Come on, we all know that men after a few drinks just want to get it on, humans and
mermaids, they're all pretty basic in that regard - she explained with her sweet voice taking on
a tone of resignation.
We swam out of our house, surrounded by corals and a beautiful garden full of starfish, we
found Seila in a cave among the rocks, towards the surface, a place where the clear and shiny
water fell down like a waterfall, swimming through the waterfall with the current you reached
a pool where the ocean water was trapped in small basins, the water was bright and clear, like
the pearls adorning my crop top. Seila, in her human form, with two long and slender legs and
a satin blue dress that fit perfectly on her body, was doing the makeup of a client, while
another waited to get waves in her hair.
- I said I would come home after work - Seila inquired, raising an eyebrow slightly, seeing her
sisters come out of the sea and walk towards her with two bare legs.
- This place is amazing - Yryhnna said, ignoring her sister and lying down in a hammock held
between two palm trees.
-
We were ready and you know Yryhnna loves coming to the reef to watch you work.
-
She really loves the reef because Yryhnna is a romantic, she probably secretly dreams of
moving with Alan to a place like this - Seila said, finishing a shadow game on her client's
eyelids. As I looked at the makeup, I had to take a deep breath. My sister was a really talented
artist. Her makeup was truly magical, on her eyelids, two sunflowers seemed to slowly turn
when the mermaid looked up, and the honey color of her eyes shone intensely when she
stared at you thanks to a copper color that contrasted with her white skin and highlighted her
gaze. But the most fascinating were the lips, it seemed as if I was staring at the calm waves of
the sea swaying in her lipstick, her lip makeup was not thick, but it gave her lips a feeling of
depth and an effect of ocean water within the frame of her mouth, it was amazing, the lipstick
was light pink, so I observed a pink and calm ocean that spread finely in two curtains when she
opened her lips to give a smile.
-
I love it Seila! You're the best!
-
I'm glad you like it Eleonor…now go and have fun with your husband.
We said goodbye to Eleonor and dove into the water, Seila was wearing a blue dress but as
soon as she entered the water, her turquoise blue mermaid tail grew beneath the dress.
Yryhnna and I followed her, we were naked with our white pants and underwear in my bag.
Yryhnna transformed her legs into a shiny ruby red fish tail, and my human legs took the form
of a bright orange tail.
We arrived at the beach party, we all had long, loose hair and looked completely beautiful
- Do you think we are the only ones at the party? - Seila asked as soon as we surfaced, our
eyes fixed on the horizon and half of our faces still submerged in the sea, swimming in this
way was safer to hide our identity.
-
There are probably more girls
-
But the only ones of our kind... - Seila began to say - Yryhnna and I exchanged glances, we
knew what Seila was referring to.
In addition to the half-fish sirens who transformed into humans, like us, there were the Syren.
They were relatives of our species but different in our moral values and ways of life, the Syren
fed on human flesh, especially that of men. They transformed into half-human, half-birds
when they had to attack their prey. We could only transform into humans, but our nature
would always be that of a mermaid with a fish tail. If we had any Syren blood relative in our
lineage, we would probably have the power to transform into monstrous birds, and the
instinct to hunt men, fortunately our lineage was pure, my entire family and kingdom
belonged to the sirens.
-
We haven't seen a Syren in a long time - Yryhnna said, shrugging
-
Not since our trip to the French coast... - she added these last words, and her voice trembled
slightly, my legs went cold as I remembered our experience on the French coast. The Syren
kidnapped Yryhnna, as they wanted to turn her into one of them. Her boyfriend Alan arrived
with my father and the French mermaid guard, in time, before the transformation could occur.
I took my sister's hand and squeezed it tightly, her bright blue eyes looked at me sweetly, and
she gave me a bright smile on her ruby lips. Yryhnna would always be the most beautiful of all,
but her beauty also made her the most vulnerable.
- We'll be fine tonight - Yryhnna assured, and her face took on a defiant, stern, protective
expression.
As we left the sea, we walked naked for a couple more leagues and took out the black leather
skirt and white pants from Yryhnna to dress, they were dry, only our hair and bras were wet,
these bags were truly magical and you could keep any belongings you wished to keep dry in
them once you surfaced. We walked naked, being careful not to be seen by any curious people
on the beach. The naked body was the most beautiful thing a woman could have, but humans
were modest and only showed their naked bodies to their partner. It was like a game, if you
saw a naked girl, it was like winning the lottery when you were human.
Seila was the only one who wore her wet dress and no underwear, but she didn't seem to
care. She moved delightedly with the attention she received, and all eyes were on her
backside and the wet dress clinging to her silhouette, her long, brown hair fell dampened
behind her back. She walked ahead, and as we arrived at the party, we could follow her
through the crowd. I was sure she was leading us to the bar to order our first cocktails, and
when I saw her smiling mischievously at the bartender, I knew I was right.

On Christmas Eve, I aborted the CEO's child
On Christmas Eve night, my husband brought his mistress home and demanded that I, his pregnant wife, leave with nothing.
On this day, I lost my husband and also lost the child in my womb...
I Loved You in Silence, You Betrayed Me in French
At my birthday party, my husband whispered to his mistress in French that he missed her. His voice was low, but I heard it all—the black lingerie, the bit about how pregnancy makes you more sensitive. His French clients around us were laughing. He turned and put his arm around me, claiming he was just helping his clients come up with sweet nothings.
He doesn't know I understand every single word. Just like he doesn't know that inside my body, I'm carrying his other surprise. And his mistress—she's pregnant too. Two wombs, one secret.
Confrontation would be too cheap. Tears are worthless. I quietly started cataloging the hidden networks my father left behind, activating the Swiss accounts.
In seven days, Zoey Smith will cease to exist. And what will my husband's reaction be?
When I Disappeared, He Regretted It
The moment the screen lit up, my entire world came crashing down.
The woman on the bed was Calista - that girl who grew up with us since we were kids. And that hand caressing her skin was wearing the wedding ring I had personally put on Matteo's finger.
"I've missed you so much..."
"You drive me crazy, baby..."
Those sweet words I knew so well completely destroyed me.
Everyone said we were the perfect couple, but who knew this marriage was built on nothing but lies?
Since he's so good at acting, I guess it's time I gave him a show of my own. I'm going to make sure everyone sees what this "perfect husband" really is...
He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
He Thought I'd Never Leave
When he said he was being bullied, I believed him. When he kissed me on that rooftop, I thought he felt the same. When he asked me to transfer schools with him, I said yes without hesitation.
Then I heard him bragging to his friends: "She'd save her first time for me. Hell, she'd still be thinking of me on her wedding night."
The bullying was staged. The kiss meant nothing. He just wanted me gone—so his new girl could feel more comfortable.
He thought I'd beg. He thought I'd cry. He thought I'd never actually leave.
I left the country.
And ran straight into his stepbrother.
I Died While They Threw Her a Party
Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.
When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.
My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"
"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."
They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.
I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.
But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
Falling for my boyfriend's Navy brother
"What is wrong with me?
Why does being near him make my skin feel too tight, like I’m wearing a sweater two sizes too small?
It’s just newness, I tell myself firmly.
He’s my boyfirend’s brother.
This is Tyler’s family.
I’m not going to let one cold stare undo that.

**
I hate girls like her.
Entitled.
Delicate.
And still—
Still.
The image of her standing in the doorway, clutching her cardigan tighter around her narrow shoulders, trying to smile through the awkwardness, won’t leave me.
Neither does the memory of Tyler. Leaving her here without a second thought.
I shouldn’t care.
I don’t care.
It’s not my problem if Tyler’s an idiot.
It’s not my business if some spoiled little princess has to walk home in the dark.
I’m not here to rescue anyone.
Especially not her.
Especially not someone like her.
She’s not my problem.
And I’ll make damn sure she never becomes one.
But when my eyes fell on her lips, I wanted her to be mine.
Alpha Nicholas's Little Mate
What? No—wait… oh Moon Goddess, no.
Please tell me you're joking, Lex.
But she's not. I can feel her excitement bubbling under my skin, while all I feel is dread.
We turn the corner, and the scent hits me like a punch to the chest—cinnamon and something impossibly warm. My eyes scan the room until they land on him. Tall. Commanding. Beautiful.
And then, just as quickly… he sees me.
His expression twists.
"Fuck no."
He turns—and runs.
My mate sees me and runs.

Can they both work on letting go of the past and moving forward together or will fate have different plans and keep them apart?
The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.
