Chapter 1
(Veda’s POV)
Today is Derek’s birthday,my boyfriend and I planned something special for him. I wanted to surprise him… seduce him… and finally give him my virginity. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for months, and tonight, I convinced myself I’m ready.
But everything goes wrong or not…
“I think this is a bit too much,” I muttered, tugging awkwardly at the hem of the skirt Sky let me borrow.
It was a tight floral mini skirt that hugged every curve I had, leaving very little to the imagination. I paired it with a simple white cropped top, and around my neck sat the silver necklace Derek had given me for my twentieth birthday.
Underneath… I wore a red lace bra and thong. His favorite color on me. He once told me red made me look irresistible.
And tonight, I wanted to be exactly that for him.
Sky rolled her eyes dramatically from where she lay on the bed, exhaling loudly. “You look hot, Veda. Trust me, Derek won’t be able to keep his eyes off you.”
I bit down on my lower lip, uncertain. She was probably right. Sky had this annoying habit of always being right.
I adjusted my glasses and turned slightly, checking my reflection again. I wasn’t curvy in the traditional sense, but I had enough in the right places my chest and hips balanced my otherwise slim frame.
“You look amazing, V. Now go knock your man dead!” Sky jumped off the bed and walked over, squeezing my shoulder reassuringly.
Then she made a face, something mischievous and pointed at the chair. “Sit. Let me fix your hair. And maybe your makeup too.”
Her excitement was contagious.
I ended up sitting longer than I expected while she curled my hair into soft waves. Just minutes ago, she had complained about being tired, yet now she looked completely energized.
After that, she worked on my makeup.
I squeezed my eyes shut the moment she sprayed setting spray across my face, scrunching my nose in protest.
She burst out laughing. “Relax, it’s not that bad!”
“Oh, it is,” I mumbled, trying hard not to sneeze. That spray always irritated my nose.
Sky raised both hands in mock surrender.
“Alright, alright. I’m done. No more torture.”
She stepped aside so I could see myself.
And… wow.
I stared at my reflection in shock. The light makeup enhanced my features beautifully. The eyeliner made my grey eyes pop, even revealing tiny green flecks I’d barely noticed before.
“You look stunning,” Sky whispered, gently fluffing my curls. “He’s going to love this.”
“I hope so,” I said softly. “It’s supposed to be a surprise.”
I fidgeted nervously with my skirt.
“He will,” she insisted, nudging me. “Now go before the dorm monitor catches you sneaking out.”
I stood, nerves immediately settling heavy in my stomach.
Sensing my anxiety, Sky grabbed my hand and squeezed it. She knew what I planned tonight. Even though she wasn’t Derek’s biggest fan, she respected my decision.
After a short pep talk, I finally stepped out of the dorm.
I adjusted the strap of my small side bag and smiled politely at a passing girl. It was already late around 10:30 p.m.
Derek had texted earlier saying he was heading to bed.
Perfect.
It took me about ten minutes to reach his dorm. He shared it with Winslow Archer, campus bad boy… and my best friend.
We’d known each other forever.
“Joined at the hip,” my mom used to joke.
My family moved around a lot growing up, but when we finally settled in that small town where his father was mayor everything changed.
I still remember the day we met.
I was ten. Shy. Hiding behind the teacher as she introduced me to the class.
Then someone tried to trip me.
I stumbled… and fell right on top of him.
And just like that we became inseparable.
As I approached the door, nerves hit me all at once.
Winslow wasn’t supposed to be home. Derek said he’d gone to a party and knowing Winslow, he wouldn’t return until morning.
Which made tonight… perfect.
Because there was no way I’d survive my first time with Derek if Winslow was anywhere nearby.
The thought alone made my cheeks burn.
My stomach twisted, nerves tightening as my pulse picked up speed. I inhaled deeply, trying to steady myself.
My palms were damp. My whole body felt slightly shaky.
The hallway was empty thank God.
I didn’t want anyone seeing me sneak into a guy’s room… even if it was my boyfriend’s.
Because they’d know.
They’d know exactly what I came here to do.
Flushing, I pulled out the spare key Winslow had given me months ago.
Tonight, it came in handy.
My trembling hands struggled with the lock for a moment before I finally got it open.
The room was completely dark.
I hesitated, debating whether to turn on the lights but decided against it.
I was already nervous enough.
Maybe darkness would help.
Right?
I slipped inside quietly and shut the door behind me.
I could make out Derek’s shape on the bed, lying on his side, facing away.
My heart pounded.
This was it.
I walked slowly toward the bed, careful not to trip.
Just be quick, Veda.
I leaned closer and whispered softly, “Derek…”
He made a low sound something like a groan.
I couldn’t even focus properly over the loud beating of my own heart.
He shifted onto his back.
Before I could second-guess myself, I climbed onto the bed and straddled him.
My breath came out in short, uneven pants.
This was really happening.
Tonight…
I was finally giving my boyfriend my virginity.

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.
