About that time, Damien has risen up becoming the Alpha of the Pack who is feared and respected having Austin on his side as his beta. He is in search of the woman he had had a night with years back. But what happens when fate brings them back together, at this time, the one who once rejected her also needs her back, and the who she thought was her friend is falling in love with her.

Chapter 1

Rosie's POV

From the moment the sun rose into the sky, I knew that it was going to be just another shitty day.

"Rosie dear, have you checked your phone?" My mother called from somewhere in the small house we lived in, her voice cutting through my thoughts.

My eyes went to the open door of my bedroom before moving to where my phone sat on the top of the bedside table. I could already imagine what my father could have sent me this time and I outright made up my mind not to check it, but my mother's next words made me jump.

"Austin will be so worried. Please reply to him!"

I practically flew to my phone, all the negative energy I felt instantly disappearing as his name came into the statement. Austin.

Austin Anderson, the soon-to-be Beta of the Crescent Moon pack, was my mate.

He wasn't particularly happy when he found out that I was his fated mate, but he had promised to work on his emotions, and it seemed my patience was finally paying off.

A smile danced on my lips as I unlocked my phone and his message popped up. I could not believe my eyes.

'Hey, Rosie, I know it's been months, but I want us to set things right. It's time I told everyone who you really are to me… I'll pick you up by 7pm. Wear something sexy.'

My heart instantly skipped a beat. This was it.

"Goddess…" I cried as my hands went to my lips in shock.

I recognized the fact that it took him some time to finally do this, and I knew it was mostly because of his tight schedule. He had been helping the current beta, and he just didn't have time, but he was finally making that time for me!

My dream was finally coming true. Austin was finally going to accept me.

With a low shriek of excitement, I quickly ran to my wardrobe and began searching for the perfect outfit.

There was still a lot of time till 7pm since the day was basically just starting, so I took my time to pamper my hair and body. But by the time I was done, it was already past 6pm and I couldn't have been happier.

My reflection in the mirror could hardly be referred to as a lowly omega. My luxurious dark hair looked so silky that one could easily mistake me for a higher-ranked wolf. Most omegas had really rough skin, but my mother had always taught me to take care of mine. So I was different from them.

"Rosie, when did you say Austin was coming?" My mother's voice cut through my self-admiration.

My eyes instantly left the mirror and I rushed to check my phone. My smile dimmed as I realized that it was already past 7pm and Austin wasn't there yet.

"Have you checked on him?" she asked.

"I'll do that now," I whispered as I quickly texted him. I wanted to call, but he had long forbidden me from calling him. I could only text him.

"Don't worry, he'll be here soon. I am sure it's work holding him up." My mother tried to comfort me. "Why don't you eat something while you wait?"

My smile quickly returned to the worry in her voice and I took her hands. "You worry too much. Austin will be here soon, but you need to get to work now. Don't worry about me."

"Are you sure?" She hesitantly asked as her hands clutched mine. And the pain in her eyes cracked my heart.

I wasn't the only one hurting in this relationship. More than me, my parents wanted this mate bond with Austin to also work so that they could get an elevation. Once Austin claimed me and publicly declared me as his, no one would dare maltreat my parents and their ranks would automatically be overlooked.

"Yes, mother. Everything will be fine. Go on," I assured her and, reluctantly, she left the house and went on to work.

But as soon as the front door closed, my anxiety increased. The time was moving too fast and there was still no sign or reply from Austin.

I didn't know what to think— especially when he had been the one to contact me. He sent me that text. It meant he had made time for us, yet he wasn't there.

I was almost dialing his number and ready to break his rule when the growling sound of his Mercedes-Benz filled my ears.

My stomach instantly filled with butterflies as I ran outside, all my worries disappearing the moment I saw him standing by his car.

"Austin, you came!" My wolf came alive and all of my emotions tingled as our bond sparked within.

His handsome face cracked into a grin, and he moved to open the door for me. "Hey Rosie, hope you don't have to wait for too long. I was terribly busy," he mumbled as I settled into the front seat.

"Oh, no. It's fine. Thank you for coming," I let out, shamelessly forgetting that it was almost 9pm, and he had told me to be ready by 7pm.

His dark eyes met mine and my wolf purred with desire. "You are such a sweet girl," he whispered, and I thought I could melt as waves of pleasure washed over me, over and over.

Yet that was the only conversation we had throughout the ride. My mind could have started picking up the red flags then, but I was too excited at the anticipation of what he was about to do; everything else didn't matter.

Even when he drove for an hour to the border of the pack, my foolish brain still thought he was taking us to a fancy new restaurant.

I was grinning ear to ear, already imagining the excitement on my mother's face when she finally saw the news on Estagram.

But my smile dropped when I realized that the only establishment in the area was a motel, an old one for whores— and that was where he stopped.

Confused, I turned my head to him, expecting answers.

But he smirked and pulled his side of the car open. When he came to my side, he said; "I'm sure you know what happens in places like this, don't you?"

My breath caught in my throat as the confusion in my head expanded even further.

"Listen, Rosie. If I am going to show you to my family and the world, I will have to claim you… all of you…" His eyes wandered over my body, and he added. "After all, we're mates, it shouldn't be a problem. Right?"

For a second, I forgot how to breathe because I knew what his statement meant, and my brain sort of went dead on me. I didn't know how to feel.

It was what I had always dreamt of, but here?

My eyes subtly moved to the shadowy building behind him and cold air whisked through me. Austin had enough money. He could have chosen a different place, but at the back of my mind, I knew why he chose this place, so far away from the city.

He didn't want people to recognize us together and think we could be mated… at least not until he had claimed me.

"Are you coming?" He stretched his hand towards me and my heart skipped a beat.

I couldn't refuse him. He was right, we were mates. Being claimed by him might not have been the right first step to take, but it was a step, and I was willing to take it as long as he was with me.

"Sure," I mumbled, taking his strong hand with a smile.

Austin took my hand and led us inside. He didn't stop at the dimly lit reception, nor the bubbly dance floor where the music was too loud and the smell of alcohol and sweat too thick in the air for me to even breathe in. Thankfully, we went straight to the upper floors, where he unlocked a door that led to a small room.

My butterflies turned into small uneasy pricks in my stomach as Austin slowly closed the door behind us and approached me.

"Finally, I got the chance to taste you, Rosie Hamilton…" He whispered, his eyes suddenly becoming even darker as his lust clouded him.

I was suddenly not so sure if I wanted to do this anymore. But before I got the chance to complain, Austin claimed my lips, kissing me so hard, I couldn't help but grant him access.

His strong arms peeled off my dress and in seconds, I was on my back against the wall, enduring Austin's kisses.

I shut my mind off, reminding myself over and over that he was my mate, and it was okay for him to do this… everything was going to be fine. I was going to feel great…

But till the moment when he took my virginity and relieved himself deep inside me, I felt nothing but pain between my legs. All the sweet things I have read about, none of them happened.

And maybe Austin felt the same way, because the moment he finished, he got off the bed and instantly began putting on his clothes.

"Since we are done with that, I can now move on to more important things," he said and my heart skipped, hoping that the good part was finally coming.

But when his bloodshot eyes met mine, something shifted in the air. My heart instantly started drumming, and I held the bedsheets over my naked body for support.

"Austin, is something wrong?" I whispered, my throat already constricting with a lump.

"My coronation is in a few months and the truth is, I don't want a wretched Omega like you to ruin it."

Confusion, pain, and shock hit me so hard, my hands began to instantly shake. "Austin, what are you talking about… I am your mate?"

"Well, that ends tonight— I, Austin Anderson, crowned Beta of the Red Moon Pack, hereby reject you, Rosie Hamilton, as my mate!"

My head fell back, a soft sound escaping me as his fingers memorized my waist. My anger melted beneath his desperation.
"James..." I whispered, more plea than protest.
His hand caught mine, fingers threading together tightly. "I'll bring him back. I swear it. Just... don't turn away from me. Please."
The word please—low, ragged, almost broken—undid me more than anything else could have.
