Introduction

Lena Hart is a talented translator whose life takes a terrifying turn when she is kidnapped and sold at a secret auction. Treated as nothing more than a commodity, she loses the freedom she once took for granted.

The highest bidder is Dominic, a powerful billionaire who doesn't rescue her out of kindness. Instead, he forces her into a marriage bound by the mystery of a single lily pendant while making her endure relentless cruelty.

What secret does the pendant hold? Why is Dominic so obsessed with Lena? As the truth slowly unravels, will their story become one of love... or a battle driven by hatred and revenge?

Chapter 1

A chill was the first thing Lena felt as she slowly regained consciousness.

It wasn't the kind of chill brought on by rain or the night breeze.

It seeped up from the cold concrete floor, creeping through the soles of her feet as though it intended to freeze every bone in her body.

Damp air filled her lungs with every breath. A pungent metallic odor mingled with dust, mold, and a faint fishy scent-the unmistakable smell of old, dried blood.

"Ahh... my head hurts so much," she groaned.

Every throb felt like a hammer relentlessly pounding against the back of her skull.

Her eyelids felt unbearably heavy as she forced them open. The harsh white light hanging directly above her blinded her instantly, making her squeeze them shut again.

Several seconds passed before her eyes slowly adjusted.

She blinked several times.

A cramped room gradually came into focus.

"Where am I...?"

Gray concrete walls, bare and unpainted.

A low ceiling.

An old fluorescent light swayed lazily overhead, casting shifting shadows that made the room feel even more unsettling.

There were no windows.

No visible escape.

Only a thick steel door stood in one corner.

Lena tried to lift her hand.

It wouldn't move.

She frowned.

Trying again with all the strength she had left, she strained against whatever held her.

Nothing.

A wave of panic swept through her chest.

Her wrists were tightly bound to the back of a metal chair with coarse nylon rope. Every slight movement caused the rough fibers to scrape against her skin, sending a sharp sting through her arms.

Her ankles were bound just as tightly.

"Please... let me go..."

A weak cry escaped her trembling lips.

She desperately searched her memory for what had happened.

But every attempt only made the pounding in her head worse.

The last thing she remembered...

Rain.

That night, she had just finished work at the translation office. The clock on the wall had already passed nine when she stepped outside, clutching her bag tightly against the cold.

The streets were nearly deserted.

Streetlights reflected across rain-soaked pavement, their yellow glow shimmering in the puddles.

She hurried toward the bus stop.

Then...

A black van pulled up beside the sidewalk.

The tinted window slowly rolled down.

Someone called her name.

"Lena."

Without thinking, she turned toward the voice.

The next second...

The van door slid open.

Someone seized her arm.

A cloth soaked in a strong chemical odor was pressed tightly over her nose and mouth.

She struggled.

Only for a moment.

Then everything went black.

That was all she could remember.

Lena's breathing became uneven.

"What... happened...?"

Her voice was barely louder than a whisper, almost swallowed by the silence surrounding her.

She tugged at the ropes again.

They didn't budge.

Instead, the skin around her wrists burned as the rough nylon dug deeper into her flesh.

Tears blurred her vision.

"Someone..."

"Please... help me..."

No one answered.

Only the constant buzzing of the old fluorescent light echoed through the room.

The silence was far more terrifying than any scream.

She had no idea how long she'd been there.

She didn't know whether it was day or night.

She didn't even know if anyone was searching for her.

Then-

Creak...

The steel door slowly swung open.

Lena's heartbeat instantly quickened.

Three men walked into the room.

They were dressed entirely in black.

Their heavy boots echoed across the concrete floor with calm, deliberate steps, as though they had entered this room hundreds of times before.

Their faces were completely expressionless.

Not a trace of pity.

The man in front carried a thin black folder.

He calmly placed it on the metal table before opening it.

"Lena Hart."

His deep voice echoed through the room.

"Twenty-four years old."

"Professional translator. English, French, and German."

Lena stared at him in confusion.

Her eyes darted from one man to another.

"What do you want from me?"

No one answered.

The man simply turned the page.

"Unmarried."

"Both parents deceased."

"No siblings."

The longer he continued reading, the paler Lena became.

They knew everything.

Even details she had never shared with anyone.

Her throat tightened.

"Why am I here?"

Still...

No answer.

The man slowly lifted his gaze.

His eyes were so cold and empty that goosebumps prickled across Lena's skin.

"I only have one question."

He pulled a photograph from the folder and placed it on the table in front of her.

The photograph showed an exquisitely crafted silver pendant shaped like a lily.

"Look carefully."

"Where is this pendant?"

Lena frowned.

She studied the photograph for several seconds before slowly shaking her head.

"I... I don't know."

His expression didn't change.

"Think again."

"I've never seen it before."

Silence returned.

It stretched long enough for Lena to believe they might actually believe her.

Then-

Smack!

A brutal slap sent her head snapping sideways.

A sharp ringing filled her ears.

Fire spread across her left cheek.

Before she could recover, someone grabbed a fistful of her hair and jerked her head back until their faces were only inches apart.

"Stop wasting our time."

"We want to know where Diana's pendant is."

Fresh tears welled in Lena's eyes.

Not only from the pain-

But from the overwhelming terror consuming her.

"I really don't know."

"You expect us to believe that?" one of the men snarled, yanking her hair even harder.

"Let me go... I'm telling the truth..."

"I've never seen that pendant before."

The first man sighed quietly.

"What a shame."

He picked up the photograph again before giving a small nod to the man standing behind him.

A crushing punch slammed into Lena's stomach.

All the air left her lungs.

Her body folded forward as far as the ropes allowed.

Violent coughs wracked her body.

Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.

No one cared.

Silence settled over the room once again.

The only sound left was Lena's ragged breathing.

A few moments later, one of the men answered a phone call.

He stepped aside, speaking quietly.

When he returned, his expression hadn't changed.

"The boss has made his decision."

The man holding the folder looked at Lena for several long seconds.

"She really doesn't know anything."

"Then should we kill her?"

He shook his head.

"No."

A faint smile curled across his lips.

It held no warmth whatsoever.

"It would be a waste."

"She's still beautiful."

"And her body hasn't been damaged."

"She'll sell for a very high price."

Lena felt the blood drain from her face.

Her eyes widened in horror.

"What... what do you mean?"

No one answered.

One of the men pulled out a syringe filled with a clear liquid.

Lena's eyes grew even wider.

"No... don't come any closer!"

She struggled with everything she had, causing the metal chair to scrape several inches across the concrete floor.

It was useless.

Two men pinned her down.

The third plunged the needle into her neck.

"No...!"

Cold liquid spread through her veins.

Within seconds, her vision blurred.

The fluorescent light dissolved into a hazy glow.

Their voices drifted farther away.

"Make sure she arrives before the auction begins."

"The VIP buyers are already waiting."
