Introduction
The man died at the table beside mine. His last words were meant for me.
I witnessed his murder in a quiet tea shop, and before the police arrived, I made one mistake that could cost me everything: I lied.
Detective Adrian Cole is determined to uncover the truth, but he doesn't know that the dead man and I share a past I would do anything to bury. The more he questions me, the closer he gets to a secret that could destroy us both.
Then someone begins hunting me.
Forced to work with the one man who suspects me, I must uncover why the businessman was killed before the murderer silences me. But Adrian has secrets of his own, and the deeper we dig, the harder it becomes to tell whether he's protecting me or using me.
I'm falling for the detective who could send me to prison. He's falling for the witness who might be lying about everything. And somewhere in the shadows, the real killer is waiting for us to make one final mistake.
Because I witnessed a murder. But what if the truth makes me the next victim?
Chapter 1
The Tea Shop Murder
Maya’s POV
The man died three feet away from me.
Before his head hit the table, he looked straight into my eyes and whispered, “Tell the detective what you did.” Then he fell into his cup of tea.
For one terrible second, nobody moved.
Then a woman screamed. “Someone call the police!”
Chairs scraped across the floor. A waiter dropped a tray, sending cups crashing against the tiles. People rushed th8 the door, while others stood staring at the man slumped over the table.
I couldn't move. I knew him. Not well enough to call him a friend. Not anymore. But three years ago, I had spent weeks searching through documents connected to his company. And I had believed he would never find me.
“Miss, are you all right?”
The waiter's voice brought me back. I looked at the dead man. A thin line of blood ran from beneath his collar, staining his white shirt.
Someone had stabbed him. I glanced at the entrance. The man who had left the shop was gone. I had seen his face. I had watched him walk past the counter, adjust his dark jacket, and leave without looking back. At the time, I had assumed he was another customer.
Now I wasn't so sure.
“Did you see what happened?” The waiter asked. I opened my mouth. Nothing came out.
“Miss?”
Yes, I finally answered. I saw someone leave. Who? Before I could reply, a woman near the window pointed at me. “She was sitting right beside him! She must have seen everything.”
Everyone turned. I hated the attention, but I couldn't blame them. The dead man's final words were still ringing in my ears. Tell the detective what you did. What had he known? And why had he waited until the moment he was dying to remind me?
Sirens sounded outside. I reached for my handbag. A hand caught my wrist. “Don't leave.” I turned sharply. The waiter had moved between me and the door. I wasn't going anywhere. Then stay until the police arrive.
I pulled my hand free. You don't have to hold me. He stepped back, looking embarrassed. Two uniformed officers entered the shop a moment later. One went straight to the victim while the other began moving customers away from the table.
A third man followed them inside. He wore a dark coat over a white shirt, and his expression changed the moment he saw the body.
Clear the room, he ordered. Nobody leaves until we've taken their details. His gaze moved across the frightened customers and stopped on me. You. You were sitting with him?
No. Beside him? Yes. He approached my table. Detective Adrian Cole. Tell me your name. Maya Bennett. What happened? A man left the shop. A few seconds later, the victim collapsed.
Did you see the man clearly? Yes. Could you identify him? I hesitated. Adrian noticed. Miss Bennett, this is a murder investigation. I need you to answer carefully.
I understand. Then answer the question. Yes. I could identify him. He took out a small notebook. Did you know the victim?
The question came too quickly. I looked at the dead man again. I could tell the truth. I could explain that I had seen his name in documents years ago, that his company had been connected to an investigation I had tried to forget, and that I had never expected to see him again.
But telling the truth would invite questions about the scandal, the missing evidence, and the reason I had abandoned my investigation. I wasn't ready for those questions.
No, I said. I'd never met him. Adrian stopped writing. Never? Never. He studied me for a moment, then closed his notebook. Stay here. We'll speak again at the station.
An officer led me to a separate room at the back of the tea shop. I sat on a wooden chair while another officer recorded my statement. I described the man who had left: his approximate height, dark jacket, short hair, and the way he had kept his face turned slightly away from the other customers.
I answered every question I could. I left out the victim's name. I left out the old investigation. And I didn't mention his final words.
By the time Adrian returned, my statement had been typed and printed. He placed it on the table. Read it before you sign. I scanned the page. You've written that I saw the man leave. You said you did. And that I didn't speak to the victim. Did you? No.
That part was true. Adrian pulled out the chair opposite me. Tell me something, Maya. Why did you choose this tea shop?
Because I wanted tea. His expression didn't change. Try again. I put the statement down. Do you question every witness like this?
He signed. Only the ones who look as though they're deciding which parts of the truth they can afford to tell me. I almost laughed. You've known me for ten minutes.
That's enough time to notice when someone avoids a simple question.
Maybe your questions aren't as simple as you think. For the first time, something like amusement crossed his face. Maybe not. He slid a business card across the table. My number is on there. If you remember anything else about the man who left, call me. I took the card. Am I free to go now? Sure, for now.
I stood and reached for my handbag. Maya. I turned. Did the victim say anything before he collapsed? My fingers tightened around the strap. No. Adrian watched me for another second. Go home. Don't discuss your statement with the other witnesses.
I walked out without looking back. Outside, the evening air felt colder than it should have. I had nearly reached the corner when my phone rang. An unknown number. I answered. “Hello?” Did he say anything to you?
I stopped walking. Who is this? The man who died. What were his last words? My grip tightened around the phone. Who are you? I asked. Listen carefully, Maya. Whatever he told you, forget it. The call ended.
I stared at the screen. The caller knew my name. I looked across the street, checking the faces of people passing beneath the shop signs. Nobody seemed interested in me.
My phone rang again. This time, it was Adrian. Miss Bennett, I need you to come back to the station. Why? We found something in the victim's belongings. What does it have to do with me?
A brief silence followed. The victim had arranged a meeting with you this afternoon.
My mouth went dry. That isn't possible. We found your name and today's date in his pocket diary.
I looked back at the tea shop. Through the window, I could still see the table where the man had died. An employee was wiping the floor, trying to erase the blood. I had spent three years making sure nobody connected me to that investigation. Now a dead man had dragged my name back into it.
Miss Bennett? Adrian called. I closed my eyes. I'll come in. When the call ended, I finally understood the meaning of the dead man's last words.
He hadn't been asking me to help the police. He had been warning me. And I had just lied to the one detective who might be able to tell me why.

Tango 2 the Alpha's Heart
My gaze snapped to his. He was smiling, causing my heart to skip a painful beat. Before I could respond, the music began, and my body instinctively reacted to the sweet melody.
I found myself molded to Lex's will, my feet irresistibly following the dance steps.
The crowd gasped as Lex pulled me into a more intimate position, his hands roaming over my body in a seductive manner.
The experience was both terrifying and magical, allowing me to feel every longing emotion through the dance.
I soon found myself lost in his arms.
When the music finally stopped, my arms were wrapped around his neck, his hands resting on my back, our noses almost touching. He gazed deeply into my eyes.
The ballroom fell silent.
Was he about to kiss me?

Filled, Owned, and Fucked by My Best Friend’s Father
He was supposed to be off-limits. Untouchable. The kind of man you only fantasize about when you’re alone in the dark with your hand between your thighs.
But the night I caught him eating another woman alive by the pool, I couldn’t look away.
And he knew it.
The moment his dark eyes locked on mine through the glass, I became prey. His filthy smirk promised one thing—he saw me touching myself to him, and he wasn’t about to let me forget it.
Now, every time I’m in his house, I can’t breathe without thinking of his mouth between my legs.
I left my cheating boyfriend behind, only to fall into something even more dangerous:
a man who could ruin me, break me, and make me beg for his cock while his own daughter sleeps in the next room.
He’s too old. Too powerful. Too forbidden.
But Gianni doesn’t ask—he takes.
And I don’t want him to stop.
Taste of Fate: The Vampire King's Human Mate
He reached for the back of my head and pulled me up just enough to reach my neck. When his fangs slid into me, the pain was instant, electric. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think. My hands found his shoulders, clawing for something to hold. My legs kicked. Tears streamed down my cheeks.
He moaned against my throat as he drank, and the sound was devastating.
Letters to a Dark Prince
Thrown into Isteros Academy—a world of old money, blood money, and cruel social games—she's an outsider by birth and an afterthought by design. Her sister Solyn is the school's untouchable queen and Mara is her favorite target.
Everyone expects Atreus to treat his fiancée’s scholarship sister like everyone else does—as if she doesn’t matter.
Instead, his dorm room sits directly across from hers, close enough that she can see his light go out at night. Some nights, he climbs the old maintenance trellis just to check on her. He teaches her chess. He shows up exactly when something's gone wrong—and never once asks to be thanked for it.
"Don't fall in love with one piece," he warns her, over a board neither of them treats like a game anymore. "It punishes the person who only sees half of it."
Mara doesn't understand why the boy who's supposed to make her life harder keeps quietly making it easier—not until she realizes the anonymous stranger she's been writing to every week already has a name.
His.
He doesn't know he's writing to her, either.
By the time they find out, it's too late to stop what's already happening. Far too dangerous for anyone to find out.
In an empty studio, in the middle of a rainstorm, she asks him: 'Am I the kind of girl who kisses a boy engaged to my sister?'
He doesn't answer.
So she asks: 'What are we?’
He told her not to fall in love with one piece.
She fell anyway.
And he was never far behind.
