Introduction

I’ve been bitter rivals with Darius since childhood. Then we both get trapped in a truth maze, forced to spill our darkest secrets. I hold a deadly secret: a dragon egg, conceived on the night the dragon king was drugged and consumed by feral rage. The maze will not let us leave until we bare everything. My greatest enemy is the father of my child — and he hides a secret he has not dared to speak for eight long years.

Chapter 1

My archenemy and I were trapped in the Maze of Truth, a place you couldn't leave unless you confessed a secret.

He leaned against the stone wall, his dragon tail drooping lazily, his posture careless.

"We've been fighting since we were kids. What secret could you possibly have that I don’t already know?"

Actually, I did.

Three months ago, he was drugged and went into a feral frenzy. I screamed until my voice went hoarse begging him to be gentle, but he didn't hold back at all.

And now, I was harboring a dragon egg in my belly—the direct result of that very night.

When I was teleported to this bizarre maze, I had been in an underground alchemy clinic.

The dwarf alchemist had instructed me:

"Your constitution is unique, and the egg inside you is too fiery. For your safety, you need the child's father to help you cool down moderately during the pregnancy."

I curled my lip, wiping the residual potion off my lower abdomen.

"He has premature ejaculation. Just implant the ice crystal in me."

The ice crystal had just been placed when, the very next second, I was teleported into this maze.

All around were stone walls, and two magic stones, one red and one green, floated overhead.

Standing opposite me was my archenemy.

Darius seemed to have been snatched right out of a dragon clan council meeting.

He wore a black suit that framed his tall physique. His dragon horns were half-hidden near his forehead, and his tail hung lazily. His facial features were deep, exuding an air of noble arrogance and brutality.

For the convenience of the check-up, I was wearing only a loose alchemist's robe.

He looked me up and down and lazily raised an eyebrow.

"Elara, that robe is so ugly you look like a human peasant woman."

I squeezed my legs together, feeling the ice crystal start to lower my temperature from within, making my face look even worse.

"Shut up. Even if I wear a burlap sack, it has nothing to do with you."

"Just figure out what kind of hellhole we've been teleported to."

A voice echoed from above:

"Elara, Darius, welcome to the Maze of Truth, where you cannot leave without speaking a secret."

"I am the maze sprite, Ayla!"

"The maze will summon you randomly in three separate instances."

"With each summoning, there will be a time limit meant for the ritual of 'Deep Magical Communion.' This is the oldest and most direct way to clear the maze. If you do not choose this path, you may prove your honesty to each other in another way."

I almost doubted my own ears.

"What exactly do you mean by the first option?"

Ayla's tone remained cheerful:

"Exactly that. It means you lie down—kneeling or flying works too—and then the other party unfastens their leather armor, and puts their..."

I shrieked: "Shut up! I get it!"

Ayla fell silent for a moment.

Only the sound of Darius's and my heartbeats remained.

He let out a low chuckle. His dragon tail swept across the floor, and his gaze raked over my entire body.

I felt completely unnatural, feeling as though I would be swallowed whole in the next second.

"Ayla! Just spare me. Go find someone else for this kind of thing."

Ayla responded: "If the two hosts refuse the Deep Magical Communion, you may choose Option Two."

"Each of you must tell three secrets the other does not know. If the maze determines they are true, you can leave."

I quickly calculated the odds in my head. Compared to option one, this was by far the safest choice for me.

I crossed my arms, looking at Ayla, who hovered mid-air like a ball of light.

"Just tell a secret? How does the maze judge what's true or false? I could say I'm the ancestor of the Dragon Clan."

Ayla bobbed in front of me: "This maze was once a relic left behind by a god. Of course it can do it."

"I can announce a secret right now that only you know."

"The ice crystal pushed inside your nether region is an azure-blue triangular prism."

My body stiffened.

Darius turned to look at me. "What ice crystal?"

My face twisted with agitation. "I don't know. It's making things up. You actually believe it?"

"Are the two hosts ready to begin?"

"If there is no answer before the countdown ends, the maze will shrink by an inch."

The stone walls closed in by an inch.

Darius smashed a fist against it, and the walls shrank by another inch.

He cursed and backed up to stand beside me.

I gripped the ties of my robe tightly, forced to properly think of a way out.

After all, no one wanted their archenemy to know their secrets.

Especially since my secret was particularly fatal.

If Darius found out, I'd rather be struck dead on the spot.

Ayla announced calmly: "Starting with Darius. Please tell a secret the other party does not know within ten seconds. Ten, nine, eight..."

Darius sat on the floor, his dragon tail swishing gently. He pulled a flirtatious, careless smirk.

"My secret is, I have two cocks. Does that count?"

The red magic stone lit up, and Ayla replied: "The other party already knows this secret. The maze determines you have failed."

Darius's dragon tail paused mid-swipe. He stood up straight.

"How the hell do you know that?"

Five years of marriage. Elara found a cardiac compatibility report in her husband Damian's study. Only then did she realize that Damian Montgomery — the youngest Italian mafia don in history — had loved her and cherished her all these years for one sole purpose: to transplant her heart into the woman he truly loved, Vivian.

Damian coldly gripped her jaw. "Vivian's condition has worsened. The surgery is set for one month from now. Don't worry — I'll find you the best burial plot, and I'll make sure your family is well provided for. You need to understand: if it weren't for your heart, you never could have become my wife, never could have become Mrs. Montgomery. You've enjoyed years of a lavish life. Now it's time to give something back."

Even the son she had raised with her own hands screamed at her: "Why won't you just die? If you die, your heart can go to Vivian! I want Vivian to be my mom!"

Elara fell apart. But she was not completely broken.

She slipped the divorce agreement into a stack of contracts that needed Damian's signature. He didn't read closely. He signed. Now, she was free.

Elara accepted the offer — Top Jewelry Appraiser, a seven-figure annual salary. She gave herself one month to say goodbye to the five years she had lost. She withdrew from Damian's life and Caleb's life, little by little, until nothing of her remained.

Until that night, when Damian watched helplessly as a bullet tore through her shoulder and she plunged into the freezing waters of the Atlantic.

"No! Elara! You are not allowed to die!"

In that moment, Damian finally understood — somewhere across those five years, he had already fallen in love with Elara. And a certain truth he had always believed in reversed itself after Elara walked away.

He had been wrong. Catastrophically wrong. Wrong from the very beginning. This proud, noble, and ruthless mafia don was consumed by remorse, and vowed to spend the rest of his life in atonement — to win back Elara, who had lost every last shred of faith in him.

"Elara, I'm begging you. Come back. Come back to me and Caleb."

"Mommy, I'm sorry. Please don't abandon me."

When Elara — now an international figure, admired and adored by countless people — comes face to face once again with the man she once loved with all her heart, and the son who once wished her dead, what choice will she make?

He grabbed my hair and dragged me downstairs. His grip on my hands and feet ached terribly. I sobbed and wept, silent tears streaming down my face. I was powerless to break free, my left hand clutching my broken right wrist.

He was a beast inhabiting this mansion, inflicting inhuman torture on my poor soul. He had created a living hell for me, this pitiful girl, within his castle.

On this cold winter night, he threw my wounded body into the icy pool, arrogantly enjoying it all, drinking and smoking expensive cigars. A satisfied, cold smile played on his lips as he reveled in my pain. His face was filled with the darkness of sin.

“How...more...am I…still…standing?” I stammered, my lips trembling.

Zain paused, thinking. Then, turning away from her, he replied:

“Until you die!”

With that, he left. As he wished. At that moment, my wish came true; I died.

But not in a frozen pool; I was struck in the head by a bullet from afar, blood splattering everywhere—that was far more gruesome.

My consciousness began to fade, but suddenly, I opened my eyes again and found myself mopping the floor in an ordinary restaurant.

I was startled: What happened? I was reborn? This is unbelievable!
