In the bedroom, Nora Hearst lay in bed. On the carpet beside it, a naked man was lifting a woman's legs, releasing the most primitive human urges.
Under the covers, Nora's nails dug into her palms.
A tear silently slid from the corner of her eye into the pillow in the darkness.
The two people beside her, one was her husband, the man everyone in Suncrest City believed loved her deeply, the other was her once best friend, the caregiver she had trusted completely just a month ago.

She thought that since Frederick would risk his life for her, after they got together he would cherish her, care for her, and love her even more.
So on their wedding day, when he was driving her back to their new home and they encountered a car accident, she didn't hesitate to unbuckle her seatbelt and use her own body to shield him from the impact.
When she woke up, the doctor told her that thanks to her protection, Frederick only had minor injuries and was fine. As for her, her upper body had minor injuries, but one of her legs had been pierced by a steel pipe.
