Chapter 1
SERAPHINA
Predictability is my safe place. Always has been. So when life decides to throw curveballs, I don’t catch them gracefully, I get hit square in the face.
Pulling up to my mother’s pack that afternoon felt like standing in front of a firing squad I’d somehow agreed to face.
My luggage bumped along behind me, wheels catching on the uneven path as I stared at what was supposed to become my new normal.
Packhouse was technically the right word. But it felt embarrassingly inadequate. The building ahead of me wasn’t just large, it was overwhelming, the kind of structure that made you feel immediately small.
Ancient stone climbed toward clouds.
A grand staircase fanned out at the entrance like open arms, stiff, formal, unyielding arms that belonged to a fortress, not anywhere a person actually lived.
The grounds hummed with activity. Dozens of people crossing paths, arms loaded, conversations spilling between them like this was all perfectly ordinary.
They moved with ownership. With ease.
My feet hadn’t even crossed the threshold yet and I already felt like an intruder.
Then came my mother.
She appeared at the top of the staircase and descended in a near sprint, all glowing skin and wide eyes, more alive than I’d seen her in memory.
She didn’t slow down for a greeting.
She just collided with me, arms locking around my shoulders, squeezing like she was afraid I might disappear.
“You made it! Seraphina, you’re actually here!” Something in her voice was untethered, free.
I returned the hug. Slowly.
My body needed a moment to remember how. “It’s good to see you, mum.” Though truthfully, I was relearning who she was with each passing second.
Four years was a long absence. And the years before that had only ever given me fragments of her, Saturday mornings, Sunday evenings, never quite enough.
I leaned back, studying her face. The tension I’d grown up watching collect around her eyes was simply gone.
“You seem different. Lighter.”
A laugh burst out of her as she swept her hair aside, a nervous habit I’d clocked since childhood.
“I feel it. Genuinely. More than I have in years.”
A small pang moved through me. Not resentment exactly, more like the ghost of an old ache. Because I remembered the version of her that hadn’t felt light.
The version shaped by years of heartbreak after my father’s betrayal, his affair, and the audacity of then marrying the woman, building a whole life on wreckage he left behind.
She’d never fully healed from that. Not visibly, anyway. Until whatever, whoever had done this to her.
“You married an alpha.” The words came out measured, cautious. She was already guiding me by the hand toward the entrance.
Nothing flickered in her expression. No apology, no hesitation. Just quiet confidence. Pride, even.
“I needed you to hear it in person. He’s not what you’re imagining, Seraphina. He's steady and kind and I just hope you’ll keep an open mind.”
I filed that away without responding.
Because an Alpha wasn’t a category I’d mentally prepared for. This wasn’t finding comfort in someone safe and uncomplicated.
An Alpha meant structure, hierarchy, an entire living breathing community oriented around him.
My mother hadn’t just remarried, she’d stepped into the role of Luna. The weight of a whole pack now rested on those shoulders I’d watched carry so much for so long already.
Could she hold that? Did she even realize what she’d taken on?
“I’m happy for you,” I said, because it was mostly true.
The interior swallowed me whole. Corridor after corridor dressed in dark wood and oil paintings and furniture too polished to touch.
The scent was deep and resinous, cedarwood pressed into the very bones of the building. The authorities had a smell here.
My mother finally stopped outside a wide door and pushed it open with a small smile.
I stepped past her into the room and blinked.
Large bed dressed in crisp, lavender-scented linen. Warm cream walls holding the afternoon light. A floor-to-ceiling window framing the tree line like a painting.
Not what I expected. Better, honestly.
“I really am sorry I missed the ceremony,” I said, the guilt surfacing before I could stop it. “Exams were scheduled and I couldn’t…”
“Seraphina” Her voice was firm but soft. “Stop. Being here now is enough.”
She gave my arm a small squeeze. “Tomorrow evening there’s a gathering, a proper celebration. You’ll meet everyone then. Including Lucian.”
Lucian. So that was the name I’d be learning to associate with stepfather. I arranged my face into something cooperative.
“I’ll be there.”
But standing wasn’t the same as being ready.
The honest truth was tangled and uncomfortable, somewhere beneath my relief at seeing her happy lived a version of me that had quietly hoped, for years, that my parents would eventually find their way back to one another.
Not for my father’s sake, I didn’t owe him that. But because somewhere in the math of my childhood, I’d come up short.
My stepmother filled gaps she hadn’t created. But being well-cared-for and being chosen are two different things.
Being left at eight. Visited at thirteen. Abandoned at seventeen with barely a word. Those weren’t details that smoothed themselves over with time. They calcified.
She kissed my forehead, warm, unhurried, the exact way I remembered from before everything changed.
“Rest now. You’ve had a long day.”
The door clicked shut.
I sat on the bed’s edge and let the quiet press in.
Gratitude and grief had been sharing space in my chest my whole life. Today was no different. She deserved joy after what my father stripped from her. That was real.
But so was the strangeness of sitting in a stranger’s house, inside a life she’d built while I wasn’t looking, surrounded by people who already knew exactly who they were here.
I’d grown up in a small, broken version of a family. Now I was supposed to fold myself into something enormous and whole.
The stillness in the room became unbearable faster than I expected.
I unpacked what little I needed and slipped out into the hallways. If this was supposed to be home, I needed to understand it, its layout, its rhythm, how it breathed.
More than I’d anticipated. The corridors stretched on like the place was still expanding. Wolf imagery everywhere, rendered in oil paint, carved into frames, woven into tapestries. Tradition made visible at every turn.
I kept thinking, how did she just slot into all of this?
I was mid-thought when I turned a corner without checking and walked directly into a wall.
Except the wall was warm and it exhaled.
I stumbled, grabbing nothing. “Ow…”
“Sorry” The word died on my lips the moment I tilted my face upward.
He stood easily half a foot taller than me, shoulders squared, posture effortlessly dominant. Dark hair with silver working through the edges.
And his eyes, grey like storm clouds that had already decided what they were going to do. They didn’t dart around. They simply found me, and held.
Older. Significantly. But the kind of older that had shed softness in exchange for something far more certain.
And then my entire body went still in a way that had nothing to do with shock.
The recognition arrived not as a thought but as a fact, deep, structural, the kind that rearranges something in you permanently. The mate bond. Unmistakable. Undeniable.
No. The word screamed silently through every part of me. Absolutely not.
A line formed between his brows as he looked at me. “I don’t know you.”
Not rude. Just direct. The voice itself was quiet, unhurried, and it landed somewhere low in my stomach that I immediately wanted to ignore.
I attempted words. Produced nothing. “I … I’m…”
“Seraphina!”
My mother’s voice came from somewhere down the hall. She appeared seconds later, moving quickly, her whole face open and unsuspecting.
“I was looking for you.” She glanced between us, pleased. “Good, you’ve already found each other.”
My mouth opened but nothing organized itself quickly enough.
“Where are my manners?” He straightened slightly, his attention still anchored on me. “Allow me to properly introduce myself.”
My mother stepped to his side, slid her hand into his, and looked at me with all the warmth in the world.
“Lucian, sweetheart, meet Seraphina. My daughter.”
Somewhere deep in my chest, something cracked clean through.
Lucian. My mother’s husband. The Alpha of this pack.
The man the universe had apparently decided was mine.
No. No. No.

Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
The Dragon's Last Fae Queen
“Prince? Dickhead? Asshole? His lips crashed into mine, hard, claiming, breath-stealing. When he finally pulled back, his voice was a rough whisper against my lips. “You could call me yours… because you are mine.”

The CEO's Unspoken Love
Before I could answer, he moved closer, suddenly looming over me, his face inches from mine. I felt my breath caught, my lips parting in surprise.
"Then this is the price for speaking ill of me to others," he murmured, nipping my lower lip before claiming my mouth in a real kiss. It began as punishment but quickly transformed into something else entirely as I responded, my initial rigidity melting into compliance, then active participation.
My breathing accelerated, small sounds escaping my throat as he explored my body. His touches were both punishment and pleasure, drawing shudders from me that I thought he felt reverberating through his own body.
