Chapter 1
Tiffany yawned and stretched her hands as she slowly awakened from sleep by the slight noises made by her parents in the room, she rubbed her eyes, slightly avoiding the rays of morning sun that seeped in through the window.
She furrowed her brows, as soon as her eyes landed on her parents, who were dressed formally, in a work attire.
In a twinkle of an eye, she sat up properly. Making herself more sober.
"Mom, Dad, what's the occasion ? Am I missing anything ?" Tiffany stared curiously at her parents, who were fully dressed and was in a rush.
"Tiffy dear, your dad and I are going for a business trip, and we won't be home for a month" Audrey said, staring tenderly at her daughter.
"What the fuck did you just say ?, For a whole month !!, and you're just telling me. Woah, woah, that's great"
"You should as well not inform me, cause it doesn't really matter right now !, " Tiffany said, suddenly becoming angry at her parents.
She angrily sat up from the bed, and made way to leave the room, not caring about what they were going to do, but her dad beat her to it, he quickly grabbed her wrist stopping her from exiting the parlor.
"Tiffy dear, you know your mom and I have a tight schedule. If actually we were notified earlier, you knew we were going to tell you before now."
"We were just notified this morning by the managing department, about our trip to Singapore. " Freudian said, staring tenderly into her eyes.
Tiffany knew she couldn't withstand or dare stay angry at her father, faced with the apologetic look on his face. She pouted her lips and stared at him, which made both parents smile widely.
"Are you still angry at Daddy ?"Freudian asked, pulling her into his arms.
Tiffany stared at her parents with a sullen face, before she shook her head and smiled.
"Dad is going to make it up to you, once we're back okay. Remember we purposely didn't want to travel without telling you"
"Fine, fine, I get it Dad,"She added.
"How can you both be doing this infront me, arrh, I'm heart broken, do you really think I don't exist anymore. Freudian, let's get a divorce once we're back." Audrey whined, pretending to be really heartbroken.
The father and daughter duo got the joke and bursted out laughing hard, Tiffy stared at her mom's acting face, she couldn't help but roll on the floor while laughing.
Freudian pulled both women into his arms and smiled while staring at both of them;
"I love you both "he said, emphasizing the word more while he stared clearly into his wife's eyes.
This was one thing Tiffany loved about her family, especially the bickering between her both parents. Although they don't always spend time with her, as they were occupied with work stuff, she still loved them, because they always compensated her.
The young 19 year old girl was so enthusiastic, on how she was going to spend the summer holiday with her parents. Her hopes flew so high, that it smashed into pieces, when she heard they were going for a trip, for a whole month at that.
She tried to be happy yet sad, though she knew it wasn't their fault.
"So dad, am I gonna stay in this huge mansion alone, for a whole damn month ?"She asked, staring around their large house.
"Ohh that ?, We'll drop you at Brent's house" Her mom added, making her way out of the room , while carrying loads of bags.
Tiffy's heart dropped immediately, She felt her body froze when she heard Brent's name, she felt all sorts of emotions rushing down her spines. She adjusted her mood and followed her out of the room.
"Brent ?" She asked, obviously trying to hide her nervousness.
"Yeah, Brent. You don't like him or you don't want to stay with him ?, I would just call Caroline, and ask if I can...."
"No mom, just asking. You know Brent's kinda weird, though he's cool. You don't have to stress yourself calling Aunt Caro"
"Are you sure ?"
"Oh common mom, Brent's place is better, I don't wanna get myself sick with Aunt Caro's headstrong kids. I mean they are something else'' Tiffy said, rolling her eyes.
They all burst out laughing at what Tiffy said.
"I think it's time we go, I already packed all your stuff and everything you'll need at Brent's place. You can check your room, if I probably forgot something" Audrey said, zipping the bag she was carrying.
Tiffany paused in her steps, trying to stop her pounding heart. She clenched the hem of her skirt, when the image of Brent appeared in her head.
Brent was her uncle, although the age gap wasn't too much, which made it more awkward. She had always had a crush on him, although he was her uncle, but what could she do when she always feels butterflies down her belly whenever she sees him.
She knew staying at Brent's place was something she could avoid, but she decided to move ahead, not thinking about the outcome of her visit.
In her head, Brent was devilishly handsome, with a Playboy smirk stuck on his ruby red lips. His dark blue eyes, which were always pulling her into him, like an endless whirlpool, whenever she stared at them.
Her ears suddenly turned red when the thoughts of his firm and huge abs and muscles came into her mind. Her imaginations began to run wild, when her mom's voice jotted her out of her train of trance.
She quickly shook her head and went to wash up, before hurriedly heading out.
Her mom seized her up, before smiling and headed towards Freudian's car. When they were all ready and set, they entered the car and drove off.
The drive to Brent's house was two hours drive; midway through their drive, Freudian raised the volume of the music playing in his car.
Tiffy slowly started nodding her head, to the starting beat of the music, she smiled because she already knew it was Roar by Katy Perry. And she was a big fan of Katy Perry, she immediately sang along as the music played on.
Her mom suddenly joined in, while happily nodding her head.
The Mother and daughter duo kept on singing loudly, while nodding their heads to the song. Freudian was all smiles, as he was driving while also nodding his head.
The whole drive to Brent's house was excitable and enjoyable, that Tiffy's previous tense mind, slightly released and she felt less nervous.
Immediately their car halted at Brent's apartment, Tiffany's thudding heart started again.
They went straight to Brent's apartment and were about to ring the bell, when the door suddenly opened from inside.
A tall, slender brunette who had an exquisite makeup on her face, hurried out of the apartment, when her eyes met with Tiffy and her parents, she bowed her face and ran away.
The trio stared at her retreating figure, and shook their heads while they turned to ring the bell. Tiffy continued to stare at the lady's back. Her brows are slightly knitted.
Tiffy shook her head and took a deep breath, before going in with her parents. Her hands were cold as she rubbed them together.
Her thudding hearts weren't helping issues either, as they kept thudding harder, as if it was going to jump out from her chest.
Looking at him sometimes, was like looking at the male version of her mom, as he was her mom's younger brother. This thought alone made her feel guilty whenever her imaginations ran wild about him.
He was engaged in a discussion, when his eyes darted towards her, he flashed a smile at her, exposing his sparkling white teeth. Tiffy felt her heart stop beating, she paused, staring awkwardly at him, while waving her hands.
He was still the same as she remembered. His dark long hair was neatly tied into a ponytail, exposing his smooth and perfectly carved face outline. Though he looked a bit mature which added more spice to his beauty.
Her parents were almost ready to leave, when she realized herself, she took a deep breath, then followed them off. They chatted for a few minutes before they left the apartment and entered their car.
She stood there, waiting for their car to drive off, and when it did, she didn't stop waving goodbye to them, until their car had no more insight.
Her eyes suddenly turned red, she felt the urge to cry, but that was going to be dramatic.
She smiled sadly and took a deep breath, ready to go inside, when she suddenly felt Brent's presence close to her.
She turned, only to meet his dark inky eyes staring at her, while a soft smile
was on his lips.
Feeling nervous, she returned the smile and looked down, making her way towards him.

Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
