Chapter 1
Carolina's POV
“You didn't think I would actually marry a girl, especially one like you, right?”
Those words rang in my head like a ticking bomb, threatening to explode anytime soon. It made no sense. We promised to be together forever, she said our future was bright together. And now…
“Lina… what are you talking about? You love me right?” I asked, my voice breaking as I tried to reach for her and she scoffed, rolling her eyes in annoyance.
“Love? Don't be stupid. Lust, yes. But you didn't think I was a lesbian like you, right? I love dicks, Carol. And there is no way I would marry a girl anyway, you can't give me what I want.” Angelina responded with a nonchalant tone, chewing gum like she didn't care about how she was messing with me right now.
This had to be some kind of joke.
“Two years, Lina. We've spent two years together and you didn't think it would be right to tell me you've been lying to me all this time? You told me you hated men, just like I did. You made promises about getting married, and you wanted to carry our child. I wanted to give you everything I had to offer. B-but now? You like dicks all of a sudden?”
“I've always liked men. I was curious, alright? I didn't know you'd be so serious about me.” She responded with a shrug and it was my turn to scoff in disbelief.
“Two years wasn't enough to prove I was serious with you? I—” My voice broke as I snapped the ring box in my hands shut. “I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you, Angelina. We were perfect together! Why would you lie to me?”
“Perfect? You could barely take care of me. I walk around with cheap bags and cheap clothes. My mates laugh at me because I'm not in the same class as them. I'm ashamed to be with you, Carol, and you want me to marry you? Aren't you ashamed of yourself? Look at the shabby ring you bought!” She suddenly yelled, slamming her hand on the dining table and I flinched.
“Angelina, please—”
“Save it. We're fucking over! I hate you, your house, and guess what? You can't even fuck me right. You're so useless.” She spat, grabbing her handbag as she got up to leave but I grabbed her hand immediately.
I love her so much, how could I just let her leave so easily?
“Please.. don't go. I love you, please don't do this to me. To us. I— I promise to become better. I'll work harder. I'll become rich. I'll buy a strap and learn how to fuck you better. I'll do anything. Just don't… Please don't leave me. You're the only one I've ever loved so much.” I pleaded, intertwining our fingers together with the hope that she would reconsider.
I had spent the last two years of my life in love with her. My life technically revolved around her. She was my everything. And I should suddenly forget everything?
“Carol…” She sighed in annoyance. “Understand this. I moved on. You can keep being shabby and whatever you are. I found a man who is a million times better, I actually came here to tell you that. Who knew you'd pop up a ring to propose?” She grumbled with a roll of her eyes and it finally began to make sense.
“You were cheating on me?”
“It's not cheating if I didn't love you.” She spat, yanking her hand out of my grip and cleaning it like it was filth. “As I said, move on. I'm sure you'll find some other girl that wants to be with a broke bitch like you.”
And with that, she was out of the house.
I didn't know how long I stood there, staring at the door, waiting for her to actually return to me. To say it was all a prank and that she would actually marry me. My parents disowned me because I told them she was the one for me. She promised to stay when I had no one.
And now that I had no one, she left? She didn't just leave, she cheated. With a man.
I had no idea when my knees hit the ground, it didn't even hurt as much as my heart bled. A tear ran down my left cheek. Then another. Until I was full-fledged, sobbing like a child.
How was I supposed to explain that I was from a wealthy family but because I chose her, they sent me away? Father told me I would regret my decision. He warned me never to return when it would happen. It finally happened. They were right all along.
I wiped my tears and got up from the ground, ignoring my bruised knees as I made my way to my small room. If there was one thing Angelina didn't know about me, it was that there was no greater hacker in this world than me. So that stupid man she found, the one who was better than me, I would find him. Ruin him. And then make her return to me.
Flipping my laptop open, another tear fell down the keyboard but I ignored it. I typed quickly across the keys in front of me, hacking into her Instagram account and I realized that it was now private. No wonder I barely saw her posts. She blocked me.
Breaking through the blocking system, her posts finally came to view and I couldn't believe my eyes. He was all over her posts. For the past 6 months. How did I not notice her change in attitude since then?
Yes, he was handsome. Familiar, even, like I've seen him somewhere before. Tall, good-looking, hazel eyes that stared more at the camera than at her, he looked rich from his clothes and wristwatch. But was it worth breaking my heart like this?
More tears dropped to the keyboard and I wiped them off, going through every single love quote she used in her posts with him. What she never did with me. She truly was ashamed of me and it stung so bad.
I finally took a screenshot of his picture and ran it through the web for his information. The first name that popped up had my fingers freezing over the screen.
There was no way. It couldn't be him.
“You…?”

“I am done chasing you.”
Before she could formulate a witty remark, Matteo threw her down. She landed hard on her back atop his dining room table. She tried to sit up when she noticed what he was doing. His face was a mask of sheer determination, his eyes were a dark gold swimming with heat and desire. His hands wrapped around her thighs and pulled her to the edge of the table. He glided his fingers up her thighs and hooked several around the inside of her panties. His knuckles brushed her dripping sex.
“You’re soaking wet, Genevieve. Tell me, was it me that made you this way or him?” his voice told her to be careful with her answer. His knuckles slid down through her folds and she threw her head back as she moaned. “Weakness?”
