My Husband Killed Our Baby For Another Woman's Child. Now He Regrets.
Anita Thorne · Completed · 14.3k Words
Introduction
I woke up to my husband celebrating our baby's death. He had poisoned me with abortion pills so he could marry Catherine Morrison-the rich woman he thinks is better than me and pregnant with what he thinks is his child.
I overheard him laughing; 'if she shows up somewhere demanding answers, I'll just say I've never seen her before in my life, Who are people going to believe? Me or some random girl from nowhere?'
David thought I had no evidence. He thought he had covered his tracks perfectly. He thought he was untouchable.
But when I'm done, he'll wish he never met me.
Chapter 1
Alicia's POV
I woke up to the sound of my husband, David Parker, celebrating the death of our child.
His low voice drifted through the slightly open door. The tone carried satisfaction, like he'd finally solved a problem that had been weighing on him for weeks.
"It worked. She took them this morning."
"Seriously? Just like that?" Maxwell's voice. David's only friend or should I say, his only friend I know.
"Just like that. I crushed the abortion pills into her orange juice, told her the pregnancy vitamins made it taste weird. She drank the whole thing without a second thought."
I pressed my hand against my stomach. It felt flat and empty. Hours ago, there had been life in there. My baby. Our baby.
"Damn, David. That's cold," Maxwell whistled.
"Nah, Cold would've been telling her the truth. This way is better. She'll think it happened naturally. She'll cry about it for a while, then move on."
"And if she doesn't?"
"She will. Is she the first woman to have a miscarriage?"
They both laughed.
The sound hit me like a slap. I'd fallen in love with that laugh two years ago when we first met at the restaurant where I worked. He came from the city to oversee a project in the small town where I lived all my life. It was lunch break and he came to eat. He asked me to help him choose from the menu. We talked for an hour and he made me laugh until my stomach hurt.
Now that same laugh was mocking me.
Tears slid down my cheeks. I wiped them away quickly, forcing my breathing to stay even. No, he couldn't know I heard everything.
Three months ago, I had told David I was pregnant. I was so excited. We had only been married for two months and a child was already on the way.
But his reaction killed my excitement.
"Who gets pregnant without talking to the husband about it?" He'd thrown the test across the room. "Couples need time to adjust after marriage. We're supposed to have a few years to ourselves first. But because you're so damn careless, you got pregnant immediately!"
I'd cried myself to sleep that night while he slept in the guest room.
But few weeks ago, everything changed. He apologized, brought me flowers. He also started going with me to the antenatal appointments. He held my hand in the doctor's office and smiled when we heard the heartbeat.
"Everything's going to be fine," he had said and I foolishly believed him.
Now I understand why he changed. He needed me to trust him.
"So what now?" Maxwell continued. "You just keep her around?"
"For now. She's useful. I still need someone to warm my bed."
My throat tightened. “What was happening? Why is my husband talking about me like I was just a fling?, I ask myself.
"And what about your plans for tonight?"
"Everything's still happening. I'm not cancelling anything."
Maxwell's laugh came again, sharper this time. "While she's in the hospital? That's brutal, man."
"She won't find out. And even if she does, what's she going to do about it? Trust me. I'm not letting a mistake ruin my life."
A mistake?
So, this is how it is?. David saw me and my baby as nothing.
I heard footsteps. The door opened wider. I shut my eyes, forcing my face to relax, pretending I was still asleep.
David's footsteps crossed the room. The bed shifted as he sat on the edge.
"Alicia?"
I let my eyes flutter open slowly, like I'd just woken up. When I looked at him, his expression was perfect. Like he was a loving husband grieving over his loss. Sad eyes, worried frown and concern written across his face.
He leaned down and kissed my forehead. "We lost the baby. I'm so sorry, Alicia."
The words came out of my mouth before I could stop them. "It's not your fault, my love."
I even managed a smile. Exactly what he expected from me. I was ready to play dumb till I got to the bottom of this.
His relief was visible. He squeezed my hand. "We'll have another baby. When the time is right."
I nodded.
"I have to go." He stood, checking his watch. "I'm meeting with an important client. I'll be back later tonight, okay?"
He placed another kiss on my forehead. Then he was gone.
The moment the door clicked shut, I let myself break. Sobs tore through my chest. I pressed my face into the pillow to muffle the sound. My hand stayed on my stomach, on the emptiness that used to hold my child.
How could I live with this? How could I share a bed with someone who'd killed our baby? Why would my husband do this to me?
The hospital discharged me that evening. David texted around five.
‘The emergency meeting ran late. Take a cab back home. I'll see you tonight.’
I sat in the back of the taxi, watching the familiar streets blur past. Our apartment was almost at the outskirts of the town. It was quiet and peaceful. David had chosen it because he said he wanted us to have privacy.
Now I wonder if he'd just wanted me isolated.
When I unlocked our home, the silence felt suffocating. I dropped my bag on the floor and stood at the door, staring at nothing.
Then I started searching.
I went through his desk first, reading every document I can find. Nothing looked unusual.
In the closet, I found one of his suits hanging in a dry-cleaning bag. I ran my hands over the pockets.
Something crinkled.
I pulled out a card. It looked expensive with gold lettering.
‘You are invited to celebrate the engagement of David Parker and Catherine Morrison.’
The date was today. Tonight. The venue was The Grand Rose Hotel in the capital city.
The card slipped from my fingers and fluttered to the floor.
Then, it dawned on me that this was David's plan for tonight.
My husband was getting engaged to another woman.

I Loved You in Silence, You Betrayed Me in French
At my birthday party, my husband whispered to his mistress in French that he missed her. He turned and put his arm around me, claiming he was just helping his clients come up with sweet nothings.

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.
