Introduction
Sneak peak;
The moment he took a step, Danica recalled his promise and yelled, "Wait!" He halted but didn't turn his head in her direction. "Hmmm," he hummed.
Danica couldn't continue to live in anticipation of a faceless man coming to her room 4 times a week. She gathered her last courage and said, "you promised to let me see your face." Loney stiffened for a few seconds. He was a man of his words therefore, he had to face the unexpected. No matter what, it was bound to happen.
Chapter 1
Daniella trembled with fear, her eyes wide in panic, as her knees burned with pain from kneeling on the marbled floor for hours. Warm tears fell in her cheeks, wetting her blouse.
Angry pairs of eyes surrounded her as Justice, the first in command to the mafia boss, snarled, "Tell me why I shouldn't kill you now?" His voice was taunting, as he glared at her with his deep brown eyes.
Daniella shivered as she muttered, "Because you won't get your money if you kill me. Look, I will do anything okay? anything."
Justice laughed hysterically. "Will you do anything? Mr. Somo, my boss, needs a virgin tonight but I know you are not so you don't possibly have anything to offer," he snarled.
Daniella thought hard. Her life was at stake and she dared not offend the man in front of her. The hardness of the floor she had been kneeling on for so long made her knee painful. "Yes, I am not a virgin, but my sister is. I can get her to Mr. Somo."
Justice gulped down a glass of vodka. His face was deadpanned, and his voice icy. "If she fails, you die. You don't mess with me."
Daniella looked for a way to run but the mere presence of his bodyguards sent her defense on reverse.
"And if she doesn't? What if she succeeds?" She said in a trembling voice, as she hugged her frame with her small hands.
"Well, Mr. Somo pays very well. We will settle your debt, and give you back whatever is leftover," Justice assured her and she believed him. Justice has always been a man of his words but also one to not mess with.
He is so skilled at what he does, which makes his boss, Mr. Sommo to always trust his judgment. However, greed would always take Daniella to him. She has been involved in all manner of devices because of him and due to her insatiable hunger for expensive things she can't afford, she doesn't want to stop.
Daniella grinned at his statement. "Alright. Tonight it is," she said, lifting herself from the floor and wobbled due to the pain in her knee. It's not the first time she found herself in such a situation so she knew the pain would be long gone before the night.
"And remember. If you fail, not even your corps would not be enough to pay," Justice warned before she hurried out of the door.
Daniella gave a smile that did not reach her eyes and took a cab home.
From the door, Daniella could smell freshly-baked muffins and instantly knew her sister was at it again. Her stomach roared in hunger and anxiety, as she made her way to the small kitchen to speak with her twin sister for the first time since their parents died two months ago.
"Danica, can I have some of the muffins?"
Danica's eyes widened in shock. Her twin sister had never asked her for anything or accepted anything from her. She treated her like an enemy and blamed her for her misfortunes. This sounded like a complete surprise but this is just what she has been praying for. It seemed to her that God had finally answered her prayers.
"Why not?" Danica responded, placing some muffins before Daniella with a glass of milk on the small dining table.
"Thank you," she mumbled and started eating. Danica stared on in shock, startling Daniella.
"Are you going to watch me eat?" The former asked, completely uncomfortable with her sister's gaze.
"No, I'm just surprised. You know, I've always wished for us to live like true sisters," Danica honestly said, shoving a strand of her brunette hair behind her ear.
Daniella gazed at her sister with hopeful eyes. She knew what she was going to say would be rejected without a second thought but her life depended on it. It's just going to be a one-night stand for Danica and Daniella would be free. To her, it wasn't a big deal.
"Great. Why don't you come to the pub with me tonight? A friend of mine is celebrating his birthday and he just wants people around."
A frown appeared on Danica's face. "I can't go to the pub. You know mum and dad-"
Daniella cut her before she could finish her statement. "Enough, Danica, they are dead. Even after their death, you are still being obedient to their grave. You are always the angel and me, what am I?" Daniella did not hide her anger.
Danica was calm. She expected her sister to flip so it wasn't a surprise when it happened. "Daniella, you know they loved you just as much as they loved me. You just never gave them a chance and kept asking for things they couldn't provide. There is more to life than expensive things, money and all. You know what, the best things in life, are for free. Look at the air you breathe, the life you have. You never paid for it and yet, you have it."
Daniella chuckled with disappointment. "Now you even talk like them. It's like death is not enough to keep them away since and they are living their second life through you. Hearing you talk like this, seems like they are still here and I hate it," Daniella yelled, pushing away the half plate of muffins.
"Look, Daniella, you don't have to stop eating your food. We can talk about this. Why don't we go to church together? There is Bible study this evening. It would be a great way to spend the night."
Daniella grew more furious at the mention of Bible studies. Of course, she couldn't tell her sister that her life was at stake and could only take her frustration on her. "Not another word, Danica, you come with me to the pub or you lose your sister. Choose now."
Danica bit her lower lip. Did she spend every day praying for God to unite her with her sister for this? Growing up, she has always followed biblical standards. Her dresses not being too short, little or no make-up, praying every morning and evening, not forgetting short prayers during meal times. She read her bible regularly and went to church every Sunday and sometimes, mid-week bible studies.
This is what their parents taught them. A strict and firm Christian foundation but unlike Danica, Daniella was the black sheep of the family. She did as she pleased and obeyed no rules. She even lost her virginity as soon as she turned sixteen, standing on the fact that the law permitted so at sixteen.
With this contrast between them, the two sisters have lived like enemies. Things turned out worse when their parents died. Daniella was completely out of control and would go clubbing all night and be involved in all sorts of things, including borrowing money from the mafia, which she wasted on expensive shoes and bags.
Danica has always tried to bring unity amongst them but it all fell on cold shoulders. She resorted to prayer, as her parents did before, praying day and night, that a miracle would happen for Daniella to be like her sister Danica. It seemed to Danica that God must have heard her prayers and that of her late parents wrongly. If not, he wouldn't have put her into this situation.
"On one condition," Danica said reluctantly.
Daniella's eyes lit up. "What?"
"That you would go to church with me on Sunday," Danica proposed defeatedly

On Christmas Eve, I aborted the CEO's child
On Christmas Eve night, my husband brought his mistress home and demanded that I, his pregnant wife, leave with nothing.
On this day, I lost my husband and also lost the child in my womb...
I Loved You in Silence, You Betrayed Me in French
At my birthday party, my husband whispered to his mistress in French that he missed her. His voice was low, but I heard it all—the black lingerie, the bit about how pregnancy makes you more sensitive. His French clients around us were laughing. He turned and put his arm around me, claiming he was just helping his clients come up with sweet nothings.
He doesn't know I understand every single word. Just like he doesn't know that inside my body, I'm carrying his other surprise. And his mistress—she's pregnant too. Two wombs, one secret.
Confrontation would be too cheap. Tears are worthless. I quietly started cataloging the hidden networks my father left behind, activating the Swiss accounts.
In seven days, Zoey Smith will cease to exist. And what will my husband's reaction be?
When I Disappeared, He Regretted It
The moment the screen lit up, my entire world came crashing down.
The woman on the bed was Calista - that girl who grew up with us since we were kids. And that hand caressing her skin was wearing the wedding ring I had personally put on Matteo's finger.
"I've missed you so much..."
"You drive me crazy, baby..."
Those sweet words I knew so well completely destroyed me.
Everyone said we were the perfect couple, but who knew this marriage was built on nothing but lies?
Since he's so good at acting, I guess it's time I gave him a show of my own. I'm going to make sure everyone sees what this "perfect husband" really is...
The Family Sacrifice
I simply said one word: "Okay."
My parents and Gilbert were stunned. They rushed to have me sign the voluntary donation form, afraid I’d change my mind.
Some days later, they sent me to the operating room.
Dad said, "Yvonne will finally be saved. We're so proud of you."
Mom said, "After the surgery, we'll make it up to you."
Gilbert looked tenderly at Yvonne and said, "When you're better, where should we travel?"
What they didn't know was that the day I agreed, I'd just received my diagnosis, stage four cancer. Three months to live.
As I lay on the cold operating table, as the anesthesia began to take effect, I only wanted to know one thing:
If I die on this operating table, will they regret it?
He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
He Thought I'd Never Leave
When he said he was being bullied, I believed him. When he kissed me on that rooftop, I thought he felt the same. When he asked me to transfer schools with him, I said yes without hesitation.
Then I heard him bragging to his friends: "She'd save her first time for me. Hell, she'd still be thinking of me on her wedding night."
The bullying was staged. The kiss meant nothing. He just wanted me gone—so his new girl could feel more comfortable.
He thought I'd beg. He thought I'd cry. He thought I'd never actually leave.
I left the country.
And ran straight into his stepbrother.
I Died While They Threw Her a Party
Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.
When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.
My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"
"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."
They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.
I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.
But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
