Introduction

“You're my sister's boyfriend.” I forced the words out through gritted teeth.

Adrian only smirked. “Does that suddenly erase what happened between us?”

“It should.”

He took another step closer until my back hit the locker. “Then tell me why you're still looking at me like you want me to kiss you again.”

—

He was my rival on the ice, my sister's boyfriend, and the one-night stand I couldn't forget.

Falling for Adrian Knight would destroy my family, ruin my hockey career, and expose the secret I've spent my entire life hiding.

So why couldn't I walk away?

Chapter 1:

.Ethan's Pov:

To me, the worst thing about admiring other men physically and mentally isn’t just the sexual tension that comes with it. It was making sure no one ever found out.

If my father ever discovered where I disappear to every Friday night, I was certain he would disown me on the spot. Which was why I kept my secret buried somewhere so deep.

Unfortunately, secrets had a way of demanding attention. Especially when I couldn't take my eyes off the dark-haired stranger across the crowded gay club.

Leaning against the sticky wooden bar counter, I reached out to pick up my glass of bourbon. I kept my eyes locked on the stranger, completely distracted, and my fingers missed the grip, knocking the glass over instead. The dark liquid splashed across the surface.

Den, the bartender who knew me well as a regular customer, shook his head in amusement. He had been watching the entire clumsy display.

I sighed, staring at the spilled drink. "Den, get me another," I said, snapping my fingers.

Den shook his head. He grabbed a clean bar rag and wiped up the mess before attending to me.

"Are you that captivated that you can't stop staring?" Den asked, pouring a fresh shot of bourbon into a clean glass.

"The fuck are you saying? I am not staring," I muttered. I picked up the glass and knocked the liquor back in one single gulp, burning my throat.

"Yeah, right. If you want him, go for him," Den added, wiping down the taps.

I turned back to look at the stranger and our eyes met immediately. He didn't look away. Instead, he slowly lifted his glass to his lips, holding my gaze with absolute confidence.

As he drank, his Adam’s apple moved slowly with each swallow. The sight made my throat go completely dry.

"Seems he is also staring back at you. This is your chance, Ethan," Den mouthed, gesturing with his chin.

I smirked as I stood up from my stool and walked toward the dark-haired stranger.

Seeing him from afar was only half the story. Now that I was closer, he was beyond handsome.

Messy dark hair fell perfectly over sharp, intense eyes. He wore a fitted black shirt that showed off lean, powerful muscles. Intriguing tattoos wrapped around both of his arms with intricate, dark geometric patterns that blended into shadows under the club lights.

"Feeling lonely?" I said, stopping right in front of him.

"Do I look like I am?" The man stared back, bringing his drink to his lips and taking a slow sip.

"Ethan," I smirked, stretching my hand out for a handshake.

"Adrian," he answered. Adrian accepted the handshake, but he didn't just shake. He gripped my hand firmly and pulled me a step closer, narrowing the distance between us.

"How about we introduce ourselves more... somewhere else?" Adrian said, a dangerous smile playing on his lips.

I was completely surprised. I thought I would have a difficult time trying to convince this guy. I never expected the stranger to want me just as badly.

I quickly masked my shock with another confident smirk. I placed my hand boldly around Adrian's waist and leaned in until our noses were almost touching.

"I know somewhere," I whispered seductively.

I gripped Adrian's hip and pulled him along, heading straight for the private rooms available upstairs.

Den watched the whole scene play out from behind the bar, shaking his head and scoffing in pure amusement.

The heavy door to the private room clicked shut behind us. The space was small, and lit by a single red bulb.

Adrian turned to me, that dangerous smile still on his lips. He just stepped in close, one hand grabbing the back of my neck while the other gripped my hip, yanking our bodies together. Our mouths crashed hard, and full of hunger. I groaned into the kiss, my fingers digging into his messy dark hair.

My shirt hit the floor, then his. His body was solid, I ran my palms over his arms and shoulders. I wanted to taste every inch of him.

Adrian pushed me back until my legs hit the couch. I dropped onto it, and he followed, straddling my thighs. His mouth moved down my neck, sucking and biting just hard enough to make me hiss. When his hand palmed me through my jeans, I bucked up against him, already rock hard.

“Fuck, Adrian,” I breathed, reaching down to undo his belt.

He smirked against my skin. “Eager, aren’t you?”

We got the rest of our clothes off fast. His cock was thick and heavy, curving up against his stomach, and the sight made my mouth water. I wrapped my hand around him. Adrian cursed under his breath, hips jerking into my fist. He returned the favor, his grip tight as he pumped me, thumb swiping over the head and spreading the slickness.

I pulled him down for another kiss, while our hands worked each other. Adrian broke away, breathing hard, and pushed me flat on my back. He reached for his discarded jeans, pulling out a condom and a small packet of lube like he’d planned for this.

“Turn over,” he said, voice low and commanding.

I flipped onto my stomach without thinking twice. Adrian’s hands spread my ass, and then his tongue was there, hot and teasing my hole until I was gripping the couch and moaning into the cushion. He ate me out like he was starving for it, one hand stroking my cock from underneath, driving me fucking insane.

“Shit… you feel so fucking good,” he growled. “Ready?” he asked, voice rough.

“Yeah. Do it.”

My BFF sent the hot stranger a voice note...
Of me saying I want to climb him like a tree.
And he just. Texted. Back.

It's the dog's fault, really.
If this untrained Great Dane I'm walking had any manners at all, I never would've ended up here:
With my leash wrapped around the most gorgeous man I've ever seen.

Lucky for me, the guy is a good sport about it.
(Although his joke that “Dogs take after their owners” hits a little too close to home when Rufus starts humping his leg.)
He leaves me with his business card and a smile that makes my knees weak.

I'm still pinching myself as me and the bestie resume our walk.
“Methinks you had a little crush on him,” she accuses.
Not thinking and a little flustered by the whole experience, I reply, “I’d wrap my legs around his waist tighter than that leash.”

THAT'S when she reveals that she'd been recording my response.
THAT'S when she gives me the most devilish grin I've ever seen and says, “You're welcome.”
And THAT'S when she hands me my phone and reveals...

She sent the recording to him.

My heart is in my throat as those three little dots appear…
Then a text.
“PROVE IT.”

Kieran Vaughn. Wealthy lawyer, werewolf, and apparently, he thinks I'm his mate.

When hunters start targeting me to get to him, Kieran drags me into his pristine penthouse for "protection." Now I'm living with a man who looks at me like I'm his last meal, whose touch sets my skin on fire, and who's barely holding onto his control.

He says everyone he loves dies. I say that's not my problem except it is because I'm falling for this broken, dangerous man and his beast.

And in his world? Love will get you killed.
