Chapter 1
“I’m sorry for your loss, Andre. Your father was a great man and he left behind a glorious legacy,” Ricardo said to his new Capo.
Andre and his men were all gathered in the cemetery of the massive estate, laying his late father to rest in the ground beside the graves of all his predecessors. The sun was setting and it shimmered against the beautiful flowers around, giving the scene a multi-coloured glow that made Andre look like an emotionless robot, adorned in his elegant apparel as he stood there with a bland expression on his face.
“There’s no need to lie to me, Ricky. My father was never great; quite the opposite,” Andre said dryly, “He was a weak old man who was spineless and couldn’t make the hard decisions. All he was good for was abusing and hurting people who couldn’t fight back.”
Ricardo, along with the rest of his soldiers were shocked to hear Andre speak so disrespectfully about his recently deceased father.
“Look at what the Red Cobras have become under his rule; a mediocre clan living on past glory,” Andre raised his voice so everyone could hear him, “I've been waiting patiently for him to die and now, the day has finally come. Under my rule, a lot of things are going to change and the first of those things is my father’s underground business of human trafficking,”
“What?!” Ricardo asked, surprised to hear his new Capo say this.
“When this clan was first founded, we struck fear in our rivals’ hearts and made our fortune from selling arms, drugs and fraternising with corrupt officials in government offices but now, we sell people like we’re slave owners. That won’t happen anymore because I’m abolishing it.”
“Andre! I must advise against this. This business is our main source of revenue and if we stop, the Red Cobras will fall. I cannot allow this,” Ricardo warned him.
“You were my father’s right hand man, Ricardo,” Andre said to the older man, “you served him well and now, it’s time to serve me…or at least, you should but unfortunately, you won’t because your loyalties don’t lie with this family, does it?” He asked with a raised brow.
“What– What do, what do you mean by that?”
“I know about your dealings with The King’s Gold, Ricardo. This clan’s fiercest enemy who you have chosen to support. You didn’t think I would never find out, did you? For so many years, you’ve been conspiring with our rivals to just to fill your own pockets. You even have your own warehouse filled with little orphans that were stolen from Romania. That is the highest of treasons,” Andre said and raised his palm.
The soldiers around all raised their semi-automatic weapons and pointed them at Ricardo, ready to gun him down right there.
“Andre,” Ricardo spoke panickedly, “You’re making a mistake. I am still a loyal servant of this family. Yes, I may have done certain businesses with The King’s Gold Mafia but I never disclosed any of our family secrets to them. I never betrayed you or your father.”
“Then, I suppose our warehouse that was ransacked last year wasn’t your doing?” Andre asked.
“Well…I, I,”
“My father was too trusting and he didn’t suspect you, but I did and I investigated the incident,” Andre moved closer to him and whispered demonically, “I hate the trafficking business and the only thing I hate as much are fucking traitors. Say hi to my father in hell when you get there.”
Andre walked away from Ricardo and his armed thugs stepped in front of the man.
“Don’t do this, Andre. I can fix my mistakes. Please, give me another chance,”
“I don’t give second chances, Ricardo,” he waved his hand and several rounds of bullets rained on Ricardo, causing him to stumble backwards until he fell into the hole in the ground where Andre’s father’s coffin had been placed.
Two of his men stayed back to fill the hole with sand while the others followed their new boss. They reached the outdoor garage and Andre got into one of his SUVs.
“Where to, boss?” His driver asked.
“Ricardo’s secret warehouse, Jay. We’re going to put an end to this,”
He and the other three cars behind him all drove out of the estate to perform the first task for their new leader.
They drove off the upper east side of Manhattan for almost an hour until they got to the slums of Wall Street. They entered a sketchy neighbourhood and after a while, they made it to the warehouse. Andre’s guards were the first to step out of their vehicles and after they were out, he got out as well.
Jay, his driver and most trusted soldier walked over to the warehouse door and knocked on it. A man answered from the other side of the door and asked who it was.
“We’re associates of your boss, Ricardo. We’re here to pick up the package,” Jay said.
The man undid the locks and just as he opened the door, Jay blasted him with his shotgun, sending him flying back into the warehouse. The other guards inside heard the gunshot but before they could arm themselves, Andre’s soldiers stormed the warehouse and filled all six guards with bullets before they could even get to their feet.
After the shooting was over, Andre strutted into the warehouse with a stale expression on his face; unmoved by the blood and death around him.
“They’re behind that door,” Andre told his men as he pointed.
Two of his men went over and slid the door open. There were about thirty children inside the dark room and they all looked so terrified. Andre was a ruthless killer but he had never been able to hurt the innocent despite how hard his father tried to mould him. In his mind, women and children were innocent and deserved to be spared, but he didn’t have the same soft spot for men.
“Get them out of here and make sure they’re well taken care of,”
His men rounded the children up and took them outside into their cars. Andre looked around the warehouse and was satisfied with what he had done.
“Let’s go, Jay,” he said.
They turned to leave and as they walked toward the exit, Jay heard a rustling sound come from a closet in the corner.
“What was that?” Andre asked.
“There’s someone in there,” Jay said and readied his gun.
He slowly approached the door and when he reached it, he opened it and pointed his weapon into the room. What he found in there wasn’t what he was expecting.
“Is it another child?” Andre asked.
“It’s a young woman..."

He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
He Thought I'd Never Leave
When he said he was being bullied, I believed him. When he kissed me on that rooftop, I thought he felt the same. When he asked me to transfer schools with him, I said yes without hesitation.
Then I heard him bragging to his friends: "She'd save her first time for me. Hell, she'd still be thinking of me on her wedding night."
The bullying was staged. The kiss meant nothing. He just wanted me gone—so his new girl could feel more comfortable.
He thought I'd beg. He thought I'd cry. He thought I'd never actually leave.
I left the country.
And ran straight into his stepbrother.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
Alpha Nicholas's Little Mate
What? No—wait… oh Moon Goddess, no.
Please tell me you're joking, Lex.
But she's not. I can feel her excitement bubbling under my skin, while all I feel is dread.
We turn the corner, and the scent hits me like a punch to the chest—cinnamon and something impossibly warm. My eyes scan the room until they land on him. Tall. Commanding. Beautiful.
And then, just as quickly… he sees me.
His expression twists.
"Fuck no."
He turns—and runs.
My mate sees me and runs.

While he tries to refuse to acknowledge that he has met his mate his world is turned upside down after guards catch two she-wolves running through his lands.
Once they are brought to him he finds himself once again facing his mate and discovers that she's hiding secrets that will make him want to kill more than one person.
Can he overcome his feelings towards having a mate and one that is so much younger than him? Will his mate want him after already feeling the sting of his unofficial rejection? Can they both work on letting go of the past and moving forward together or will fate have different plans and keep them apart?
The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

“I’m sorry, sweetheart. Was that too much?” I could see the worry in his eyes as I took a deep breath.
“I just didn’t want you to see all my scars,” I whispered, feeling ashamed of my marked body.

Oops, Wrong Girl to Bully
My back hit the desk. Pain exploded through my skull.
"Girls like you don't get to dream about guys like Kai." Bella's breath was hot on my face. "You don't get to write pathetic love letters."
She shoved me again. Harder.
"Maybe if you weren't such a desperate little—"
I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
The door slammed.
I tried to stand. Couldn't. The room was spinning, fading to black.
Someone... please...
