The Vampire Lord Of Edinburgh And His Detective
Hector Constantine · Ongoing · 33.8k Words
Introduction
This is my second time seeing an actual dead body, and honestly I don't think I could ever get used to this.
Asher Rider has barely arrived in Edinburgh when his first days in the city are interrupted by a string of disturbing murders.
Then his best friend becomes one of the victims.
Determined to find the person responsible, Asher throws himself into the investigation....unaware that the truth behind the murders is far more dangerous than anything he could have imagined.
Because Edinburgh is hiding secrets.
And so is the beautiful, silver-haired stranger who suddenly walks into Asher's life.
Killian Constantine is arrogant, mysterious, and hiding far too many secrets.
He is also a vampire.
After one drunken night together, Asher is determined to forget the entire thing.
Unfortunately, his body has other plans.
Strange dreams.
Unexplained fevers.
A painful bite mark that refuses to heal.
And a supernatural world that suddenly seems very interested in finding him.
As ancient creatures begin returning to Edinburgh and a three hundred year old prophecy threatens to awaken, Asher discovers that his connection to Killian may be far more dangerous than a one-night stand.
Because something impossible is happening to his body.
Something that should not be possible.
Something that could change the supernatural world forever.
And the more Asher searches for the truth behind his friend's murder, the more he realizes that the case may be connected to a much older mystery.
A mystery involving vampires.
Witches.
A forgotten prophecy.
And a secret buried deep within his own blood.
The truth is coming.
And when it finally finds Asher, there will be nowhere left for him to run.
Chapter 1
Asher's POV
"Oh my God, is that a dead body? I am gonna puke." I choked out the words, shoving my hand over my mouth as I ran for the nearest brick wall, my stomach violently rolling.
This is my second time seeing an actual dead body, and honestly I don't think I could ever get used to this.
"Asher, you serious about this promotion or what?" Mr Connor voice was dry, completely unmoved by my panic.
I forced myself to take a long, burning breath of the cold air, trying to swallow down the bitter bile rising in my throat before I walked back to the scene. I forced myself to look down.
The girl's body was splayed flat on the damp cobblestones. Her eyes were wide, staring blankly at nothing. Her mouth was parted in a frozen gasp, and she looked so pale, like her body had been drained of every drop of blood.
"We need more light over here," I called out, my voice shaking.
Almost instantly, the heavy beams of flashlights cut through the gloom as the rest of the team hurried over. I knelt beside her, my knees sinking into the damp earth. As the light swept over her face, something strange caught my eye. Right along the curve of her throat.
I leaned closer, tilting her chin sideways with two gloved fingers. "Sir...is this a bite mark?"
"Yes, it is," Mr Connor sighed.
He stood up stretching his back with a groan that sounded like cracking dry wood. I stood up right along with him, my legs feeling like lead.
"It's usually like that here," Connor muttered, rubbing his temples. "For the past two months, every fucking day people end up mysteriously dead, with bite marks all over. Body completely drained of blood and no fingerprints of the killer found."
My stomach did another violent flip. What? My chest began to prickled me. It was bad enough this was my first day in Edinburgh, but to be dropped headfirst into a literal horror show? Fuck. I should have stayed in England, this was all my mum's fault.
"So, uh.....who or what exactly is killing people? any guess yet" I asked, trying to keep my voice from cracking.
Connor was already walking away, leaving the forensic team to bag the body. "We don't know yet," he called back over his shoulder, pausing for a second. "Look, boy it's a long story and I am fucking tired. Just go home, I will send you and email of the details."
I nodded quickly, ripping off my latex gloves and tossing them into the trash bin mounted on the forensics van. I practically scrambled into my car, slamming my door shut and hitting the central lock button with a hard smack of my palm.
"Hey!" a voice whispered from the back seat.
"Jesus Christ!" I shrieked twisting around so fast my neck popped, my heart slamming against my ribs in absolute fear.
The dim overhead light flickered, illuminating a smug, familiar face. Jace, my absolute ridiculous excuse for a friend.
"Dude, you scared the absolute shit out of me!" I breathed, my voice cracking on the final word.
"Shush, keep your voice down," Jace hissed, darting his eyes toward the window. "You can't let the detective know I am here, okay?"
"Actually, I should let him know. You faked fever so you wouldn't have to come tonight, mind you, it's my first day here and you abandoned me."
"Okay, okay stop babbling," Jace interrupted, climbing over the console into the front passenger seat and aggressively adjusting the headrest.
"So, how was your first day? Welcome to mystery town, the home of unending deaths," he added, spreading his arms wide with a grin.
I shoved the key into the ignition, the engine roaring to life as I threw the car into drive. I peeled away from the alleyway and hit the dark empty road. It was already past 10:00 pm, and the shadows of the city felt like they were pressing against the glass.
"I can't stay here, Jace," I said, my hands gripping the steering wheel so tight my knuckles turned white.
"Why? Because you found a dead body on your first day?"
"I hate dead bodies," I muttered, staring straight ahead. "Not just that, I have this awful, heavy feeling in my chest about this."
"Give it a rest, Asher. This is why you should have continued your artiste career," Jace scoffed, leaning back and resting his head against the headrest.
I didn't answer. He was actually right, I wanted to just be a simple artiste but here I am living my mum's detective dream and working hard for a promotion.
I stared at the endless stretch of dark road, the blurred silhouettes of the trees whipping past the windows.
The unsettling weight in my chest only grew heavier. I couldn't shake the image of that dead girl's face out of my head. What kind of sick, twisted serial killer bites their victims.
Thirty minutes later, I pulled up to the curb outside Jace's house.
"Hey, you should just sleep over. It's already late," Jace said, leaning his arms on the open window frame with his usual lazy smile.
"No, thank you. I need to unpack." I said.
"Pleaseee," he begged.
"No," I snapped. "Now get your gay ass out of my car."
I rolled up the window before he could reply, putting the car in gear and leaving him standing under the dim glow of the streetlights.
Minutes later, I unlocked the door to my new rental and quickly tossed my keys onto the dusty living room table, collapsing my body to the couch.
I looked around the barely furnished room and my unpacked suitcases sitting like dark shadows near the doorway.
The entire place had an eeriely, hostile vibe to it. I shouldn't have come here. I should just call my mom and go back to England.
RING RING
My phone buzzed loudly in my pocket. I pulled it out, staring at the screen. Jace again. Honestly, was he in love with me? We had been friends for fifteen years and for fifteen years he wouldn't stop the habit of calling me every single night.
I swiped to answer, letting out an exhausted sigh. "What, Jace?"
"Asher!" his voice screamed through the speaker, high and absolutely terrified. "Please help me....please, oh God, help me! Something is in my house......"

Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
After One Night with the Alpha
I thought I was waiting for love. Instead, I got fucked by a beast.
My world was supposed to bloom at the Moonshade Bay Full Moon Festival—champagne buzzing in my veins, a hotel room booked for Jason and me to finally cross that line after two years. I’d slipped into lacy lingerie, left the door unlocked, and lay on the bed, heart pounding with nervous excitement.
But the man who climbed into my bed wasn’t Jason.
In the pitch-black room, drowned in a heady, spicy scent that made my head spin, I felt hands—urgent, scorching—searing my skin. His thick, pulsing cock pressed against my dripping cunt, and before I could gasp, he thrust hard, tearing through my innocence with ruthless force. Pain burned, my walls clenching as I clawed at his iron shoulders, stifling sobs. Wet, slick sounds echoed with every brutal stroke, his body unrelenting until he shuddered, spilling hot and deep inside me.
"That was amazing, Jason," I managed to say.
"Who the fuck is Jason?"
My blood turned to ice. Light slashed across his face—Brad Rayne, Alpha of Moonshade Pack, a werewolf, not my boyfriend. Horror choked me as I realized what I’d done.
I ran away for my life!
But weeks later, I woke up pregnant with his heir!
They say my heterochromatic eyes mark me as a rare true mate. But I’m no wolf. I’m just Elle, a nobody from the human district, now trapped in Brad's world.
Brad’s cold gaze pins me: “You carry my blood. You’re mine.”
There is no other choice for me but to chose this cage. My body also betrays me, craving the beast who ruined me.

I died on my son's death anniversary, betrayed by the man I'd devoted my entire life to, and the woman who stood by, smiling as I took my last breath… was my very own sister.
When I opened my eyes again, I was five years in the past—before the betrayal, before my death and before the beginning of it all.
This time, I refused to marry the man who destroyed me.
Instead, I walked straight into the arms of the only man the entire Empire feared—Crown Prince Alpha Rhaedon Ashkaar.
Rhaedon was everything Lucien wasn't.
Dangerous. Competent. Powerful.
And the perfect weapon for my revenge.
He wanted the throne. I wanted vengeance.
It should have been the perfect alliance, but revenge was never that simple.
With every step I took toward my revenge, another secret from my first life came to light. The deeper I dug, the more I realized I wasn't the only one playing this game.
And by the time I uncovered the truth...
Walking away from Rhaedon Ashkaar was no longer an option.

Allies become something else entirely.
And survival begins to demand impossible choices.

Even if it costs them.
Because this time, they aren’t just being hunted.
They’ve already been marked.

Bella and Her Beast
.
Locked in her frozen tower, Bella dreamed of warmth, of touch, of freedom and of love. Cursed with the power of ice and snow, she’s spent her life alone. A secret they tried to protect the world from. Her only escape comes in the form of the books she reads. Stories of heat, desire, and the kind of love that could melt even her frostbitten heart.
Damien is the Beast. A dragon King with a temper forged in flame and a soul hollowed by duty. The world fears him. The people call him a monster. But beneath the scales and the rage lies a man who has never been touched by love.
When frost meets fire, the world shatters. She was never meant to leave her tower. He was never meant to find her. But destiny doesn’t bow to kings or care for cages and now the question burns through them both: Can Bella have her Beast? Or will the girl of snow melt in the heat of his desire?
.
"I’m keeping her."
"What?"
Before I can react, he scoops her up. Her small body fits easily in the cradle of his talons. For a split second, she looks startled, but not afraid. Her hand rests against one scaled finger, and she stares up at him with that same curious wonder, as though she’s already forgotten she was ever meant to fear me.
"Put her down," I try to command, panic threading through my thoughts. "You’ll hurt her."
"She’s ours," the beast insists, possessive and fierce. "Our snowflake."

They'll Regret This
My fiancé didn't just dump me—he proposed to her that same night. My so-called family handed me bus fare and a one-way ticket to the countryside.
Perfect. Let them think they won.
They don't know who I really am. The anonymous genius surgeon who saves lives when elite hospitals give up. The legendary artist whose paintings sell for millions at auction. The undefeated shadow queen of the underground fighting circuit. And the true heiress to a fortune that makes theirs look like pocket change.
Now my ex-fiancé begs on his knees. My fake sister's jealousy is eating her alive. And that cold, arrogant CEO who once threw our engagement contract in my face? He's hunting me down like a man possessed, desperate for one more chance.
They threw me away like trash to upgrade their lives.
Joke's on them.
I was always the upgrade.
