Introduction
Everything fell apart. Then my daughter, in front of everyone: "That's just our annoying nanny."
I tried to hold on to what was left of our family, but my daughter shoved me down the stairs. I lost the baby, and my husband just checked his watch while I bled out on the floor.
They locked me in and left for Italy.
Alone in the hospital, they told me I'd lost the baby and had "memory damage."
Now they're back, expecting the same obedient wife.
She's gone.
And I'm done loving them.
Chapter 1
Helen's POV
I found Mark's tablet on the kitchen island. He'd left in such a rush this morning, claiming he had an emergency department meeting, that he forgot the one thing he needed to present his lecture.
Being the dutiful wife—the idiot wife—I grabbed his keys and drove to campus. It was only fifteen minutes away.
I didn't expect to hear my own funeral being planned over a latte.
The door to his office was slightly ajar. I raised my hand to knock, breathless from the walk across the quad, when I heard Mark's laugh. It wasn't his stressed, "tenure-track is killing me" laugh. It was light. Boyish.
"Honestly? I'm counting down the days," Mark said.
I froze. My hand hovered over the wood.
"She's suffocating me, Dave," Mark continued. "And she's doing the same to Sophie. It's like living in a prison warden's office."
His colleague, Dave, chuckled. "Still on about the gluten thing?"
"Sophie has Celiac disease," Mark groaned. "It's real. But Helen acts like a crumb of bread is radioactive waste. She checks every wrapper. She calls the school nurse three times a week. It's exhausting. It's unsexy."
My chest tightened. I leaned closer to the doorframe. Unsexy.
"You used to say her attention to detail was what made her a great editor," Dave noted.
"That was ten years ago. Before she quit to be a mom. Now? It's just neurotic control." Mark's voice dropped, turning conspiratorial. "That's why this summer is going to be a lifesaver."
"The research sabbatical?"
"The 'sabbatical,' right," Mark sneered. "I'm taking Jessica."
My stomach dropped. Jessica. His twenty-four-year-old grad student. The one who came over for dinner last Thanksgiving and complimented my pot roast with a smirk that didn't reach her eyes.
"Three months in a villa in Tuscany," Mark said, his voice dripping with excitement. "Just me, Jessica, and the rolling hills. I need to breathe."
"What about Sophie?"
"Oh, she's coming too. She adores Jessica. Jessica lets her eat pizza, lets her stay up late. They're like best friends."
"And Helen won't suspect?"
"I told her it's an exclusive academic retreat for faculty and children only. No spouses allowed due to insurance liability." Mark laughed. "She trusts me. Plus, with the new baby coming, she's too tired to argue. By the time we get back in September, Jessica's grant will be over, and I'll figure out how to leave Helen for good."
I couldn't breathe. The hallway spun.
New baby. I instinctively touched my stomach. I was only twelve weeks along. We hadn't even announced it yet.
He was planning to abandon his pregnant wife to play house in Italy with a girl young enough to be his little sister, using our daughter as a cover.
I didn't knock. I turned around and walked away. My legs felt like lead.
I sat in my car in the faculty parking lot for an hour, staring at the dashboard. The dashboard family photo mocked me—Mark, Sophie, and I at Disney World three years ago. We looked happy. When did I become the prison warden?
I needed to see Sophie. My daughter. She was twelve. Old enough to understand, but young enough to be manipulated. Surely, she didn't know the real plan. Mark could lie to me, but he couldn't have corrupted my girl.
I checked the time. School pickup was in twenty minutes.
I drove to the school like a woman possessed. I didn't check the mirror. I knew what I looked like—messy bun, no makeup, wearing an oversized sweatshirt to hide the tiny bump.
The bell rang. Kids flooded the sidewalk. I spotted Sophie immediately. She was taller than the other girls, laughing with a group of friends.
"Sophie!" I waved, forcing a smile.
She looked up. Her eyes locked on mine. The smile vanished instantly.
She didn't run to me. She whispered something to the girl next to her. The girl looked at me, then back at Sophie, confused.
Sophie walked toward the car, but she didn't open the door. She stopped ten feet away, her body language screaming rejection.
"Sophie, hop in," I said through the open window.
One of her friends, a girl with heavy eyeliner, shouted, "Is that your mom, Soph?"
Sophie stiffened. She looked at her friends, then at me. Her eyes were cold. Colder than Mark's.
"No," Sophie said loud enough for the curb to hear. "That's just our nanny. She's really annoying."

Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

The Pack: Rule Number 1 - No Mates
"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."
I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."
New to the world of shifters, Draven is human on the run. A beautiful girl who no one could protect. Domonic is the cold Alpha of the Red Wolf Pack. A brotherhood of twelve wolves that live by twelve rules. Rules which they vowed could NEVER be broken.

I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
