Introduction
Grayson Hale. The Ashen King. The man who writes sentences so long they need a GPS to navigate. And I just told him to his face that his book is "emotionally constipated."
The room went silent. My boss looked ready to stroke out. But Grayson? He laughed.
"Finally," he said, staring at me like I was the only interesting thing in the room. "Someone who isn't afraid of me."
Now he won’t let anyone else edit him. He demands my time. My attention. He emails me at 3 AM. He shows up at my desk just to watch me squirm.
"You hate my book, Leila," he says, leaning over my shoulder, smelling like danger. "But you can't stop thinking about it. Or me."
He’s arrogant. He’s infuriating. And he’s the most attractive man I’ve ever met.
I’m supposed to fix his manuscript. But I think he’s trying to rewrite my life.
Can I survive editing the man I love to hate?
Leila Brooks is a talented but clumsy book editor who secretly moonlights as the sharp-tongued book critic "Lady Seraphina Wrenford." She has just anonymously published a scathing review of the new book, The Ashen King, by the popular "genius" author Grayson Hale. However, fate intervenes, and to keep her job, Leila is forced to become the editor of this very book, bringing her face-to-face with the arrogant, conceited, and undeniably attractive Grayson.
Chapter 1
There’s a particular kind of guilt that comes with hating a book.
It’s not the quick, and the fleeting kind but the sort you feel when you put a novel down halfway through, deciding it just isn’t for you. No, this is the kind that lingers, that festers, that makes you question if maybe, just maybe, you’re the problem.Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood. Maybe I read it too fast. Maybe I should’ve given it more time.
I tell myself all of this as I sit in my dimly lit room, and hunched over my laptop, staring at the blinking cursor on the empty review page. My studio is wrapped in silence, the kind that only exists in the dead of night, when even the city outside has worn itself out. The muffled sounds of my neighbors moving around their apartments…all of it has faded into stillness.
And my mostly empty coffee cup sits beside me, and the liquid inside it has long gone cold. The half-eaten granola bar next to it taunts me, a reminder that I haven’t had a proper meal since lunch. I should be asleep. I should be doing anything else.
But instead, I’m here. And I am trying to figure out how to put my frustration into words.Because here’s the thing, I don’t want to write this review.
I hate writing bad reviews. Not because I feel bad for the author though, okay, maybe a little but because I know exactly what it takes to write a book. The obsession over every sentence. The way the characters take up space in your mind, and living there long after the draft is done. The slow, quiet panic that creeps in when you start to wonder if the story you’ve spent months, years shaping is actually good at all.
I know what it’s like to love a book you’ve created. Which is why I hate tearing one apart. But there’s a difference between a book that just isn’t for me and a book that feels like a waste of my time. And The Ashen King? That book wasted my time.I flex my fingers, and take a slow breath, and finally start typing.
“The Ashen King is an overwrought, self-indulgent fever dream of a novel, dripping with purple prose and the kind of existential musings that only make sense at 3 a.m. after too much whiskey.”
I pause, and reread it…Maybe “fever dream” is too harsh. I backspace. Type "pretentious mess."
And I Delete that too. I sigh, as I lean back in my chair, and rubbing at my temple where a dull headache has started to form. My eyes directed towards my bookshelves sit across the room, crammed with well-loved paperbacks. Stories that remind me why I love this industry. The books that make me feel something real. The books that feel like home. But this book? This book was like getting lost in a stranger’s house and wandering through rooms full of expensive, meaningless furniture, trying to find a way out.
All of a sudden, my phone buzzes beside me. I glance at the screen and Dad is calling me. My stomach tightens because I don’t want to answer.I haven’t spoken to him in weeks. Not since his last attempt to “check in,” which had spiraled into another thinly veiled critique of my life choices. But still, some part of me wants things to be different.
“picks up the call leila. He is your dad.” I thought and before the ringing stopped I picked up the call and said,
“ Hello, Dad.”
“Leila,” he says, “You still up?”
“I’m working,” I say.
He paused before again speaking, “On what?”
I close my eyes. I can already hear the edge of disapproval in his tone, like my job isn’t real work, like my life isn’t something he understands, let alone respects.
“A review.” I reply and brace myself for the inevitable.
“You spend too much time on those d*mn books,” he mutters. “When was the last time you did something that actually mattered?”
My dad’s words land like a punch. I grip the phone tighter, trying my best to control myself by saying anything which I regret later but here we go again.
“What exactly do you want from me, Dad?”
“I want you to stop wasting your life,” he snaps. “You’re thirty years old, Leila. Still sitting in that tiny apartment, hiding behind books, pretending this…this nonsense you do is a career.”
“You don’t get to decide what my life is supposed to look like,” I shoot back. “I love what I do. Just because it’s not the life you wanted for me doesn’t mean it’s worthless.”
“Love doesn’t pay the bills,” he says, “Do you even make enough to survive? Or are you still scraping by, wasting every dollar on those ridiculous paperbacks?”
“Right. Because success is only measured in paychecks. Because if I’m not making six figures and working myself to death at a job I hate, I’m a failure, right?”
He exhales, like I’m being childish, like I always am in his eyes.
“This is not what your mother wanted for you,” he says finally, and that’s it my breaking point.
“Don’t you dare,” I snapped, and my hand gripping the phone so tightly it hurts. “Don’t you dare bring Mom into this.”
“She would have wanted more for you.”
“She wanted me to be happy! She wanted me to follow my passion, to build a life that made me feel whole. She never cared about money, about status, about any of the bllsht you think matters more than actually living.”
“She wouldn’t have wanted you to end up alone.”Dad’s words gut me because they hit too close to something I already fear. I blink hard against the burning in my eyes, swallowing the lump in my throat.
“I have to go.” I said,
“Leila…?”I hang up the call before he could even finish his sentences. My entire body is shaking, and my hands trembling as I set the phone down. My chest is tight, and my breath comes in short, shallow bursts. I feel raw, exposed, like he’s torn open wounds I thought had healed. I set my laptop aside and stand, stretching my arms above my head. My body is stiff from hours of sitting, and my joints aching with the familiar protest of bad posture. I cross the tiny apartment to the kitchen, and pour myself another cup of coffee even though I know I don’t need it.I don’t even like coffee this much. It’s just a habit at this point.
As I take a sip, I catch my reflection in the microwave door. The dark circles under my eyes and the Messy bun. I was wearing an oversized sweatshirt that I definitely stole from my ex years ago. I look exactly like what I am…an overworked editor with a caffeine addiction and no personal life to speak of. I sigh, and drag a hand through my hair before heading back to my desk.
“I should soften the review. Add something about how, despite its flaws, The Ashen King is still an ambitious novel. That people who enjoy overly lyrical prose might find something to love. That Grayson Hale’s fans will adore it, no matter what I say.” I thought

“I am done chasing you.”
Before she could formulate a witty remark, Matteo threw her down. She landed hard on her back atop his dining room table. She tried to sit up when she noticed what he was doing. His hands were working on his belt. It came free of his pants with a violent yank. She collapsed back on her elbows, her mouth gaping open at the display. His face was a mask of sheer determination, his eyes were a dark gold swimming with heat and desire. His hands wrapped around her thighs and pulled her to the edge of the table. He glided his fingers up her thighs and hooked several around the inside of her panties. His knuckles brushed her dripping sex.
“You’re soaking wet, Genevieve. Tell me, was it me that made you this way or him?” his voice told her to be careful with her answer. His knuckles slid down through her folds and she threw her head back as she moaned. “Weakness?”
“You…” she breathed.

After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
I’d appreciate all your support, thank you so much!
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
Aphrodite and the Cursed Mate Bond
She finds truth.
Aphrodite is not human at all. She is a rare white wolf, descended from an ancient Direwolf bloodline long believed extinct. The ritual meant to sever her ties awakens her wolf instead and with it comes the scent of five mates bound to her by fate.
The Alpha twins who once scorned her now cannot stay away. A human hunter walks beside her and proves that strength is not born of fangs or dominance. A cursed Wolf King holds the key to her past and her father’s imprisonment. And watching from the shadows is one who was never meant to interfere at all.
As gods fall, packs fracture, and war reshapes the world, Aphrodite must decide what destiny truly means. Is it submission to fate or the courage to choose her own path.
Love does not come in one form. Neither does power.
In a world ruled by gods and wolves, Aphrodite will become something neither ever expected.
Not a queen.
But the axis upon which the world turns.

She calls him Cain, but the shattered-moon tattoo on his back brands him as Kaelen, the long-dead Alpha of the powerful Sky-Fall pack. His return triggers a brutal civil war with the usurper who stole his throne and his fated mate. Hunted by Lycan assassins and a fanatical human commander desperate for the secrets locked in Lena's own past, their only hope lies in embracing the very power Kaelen can't remember and Lena has always feared.
As they uncover a conspiracy that threatens not just the pack, but the future of every living thing, Kaelen must fight for a kingdom he doesn't know and Lena must confront a legacy she tried to bury. In a world of broken thrones and fated bonds, they will discover that the greatest choice is not between love and duty, but between who you are told you must be, and who you choose to become.

The CEO's Unspoken Love
Before I could answer, he moved closer, suddenly looming over me, his face inches from mine. I felt my breath caught, my lips parting in surprise.
"Then this is the price for speaking ill of me to others," he murmured, nipping my lower lip before claiming my mouth in a real kiss. It began as punishment but quickly transformed into something else entirely as I responded, my initial rigidity melting into compliance, then active participation.
My breathing accelerated, small sounds escaping my throat as he explored my body. His touches were both punishment and pleasure, drawing shudders from me that I thought he felt reverberating through his own body.
My nightgown had ridden up, his hands discovering more of mine with each caress. We were both lost in sensation, rational thought receding with each passing second...

Now, the three-year contractual marriage is about to end, but I feel that some kind of sentiment has developed between Derek and me that neither of us is willing to admit. I'm not sure if my feelings are right, but I know that we can't resist each other physically...

With my heart in pieces, I sought solace in the last place I expected—my Alpha's arms. One night turned into a dangerous entanglement, and now my Alpha refuses to let me go. As the Alpha’s obsession grows, I'm caught in a web of desire and fear.
Curtis, the boy I once loved, still holds a promise I made, but the Alpha’s powerful presence pulls me deeper into his world. Should I forgive Curtis and keep my word, or should I risk everything for a chance at something wild and unpredictable with the Alpha who won’t take no for an answer?
“There are no limits between us,” he chuckled, the mirth sparkling in his gorgeous eyes. “And all of this stems from the night you gave me both pain and pleasure. I’m simply returning the favor.”
He took two steps forward, and I stepped back. “But…” The memory of what I had done filled me with fear, and I knew I had to get out of there. “I…”
“No, Firecat.” He placed an index finger on my lips. “This will take your mind off that son of a bitch.” His strong hands pulled me by the waist until I felt his hard manhood.
From Sacrificed Slave to the Dragon King's Obsession
His fangs glinted as he gripped my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze. Dragon scales shimmered along his neck, breath scorching my skin.
"Your Majesty... I beg—" He shoved me onto the bed. Silk tore with a sharp rip, cold air rushing over my exposed body.
"Scared?" He smirked, palm sliding down my waist, fingers tracing slow, burning circles. "Yet you shiver... not from cold."
I lunged for the candlestick, but he caught my wrist, pinning it overhead. His knee forced my legs apart.
"When your father gave you to me," his lips brushed my ear, voice a dark rumble, "you were already mine."
