Chapter 1
At the age of forty-two and still mateless, Alpha Brentwood is tired of waiting for the moon goddess to grant him his Luna. Therefore, he plans to leave his pack to find himself a Luna of his own choosing.
Alpha Brentwood didn't have to leave his pack to seek a mate. There were plenty of single she-wolves longing to be his, even the ones who were lucky enough to find their fated mate. All he had to say to any of the she-wolves was 'to be his Luna,' and they would happily become his, for he was an extremely handsome alpha and also a rotten rich one.
Alpha Brentwood knew the she-wolves yearning to have him were not only drawn to him because of his great looks but also his riches and, of course, to be the number one powerful Luna, for he was the most powerful alpha. So, he decides to seek his own Luna somewhere that no female will recognize him for his riches and powerful title.
It will be rather difficult for him to go around unnoticed by anyone, for having such riches and a powerful title also comes with popularity. Still, he was going to give it a try.
In the morning, as the clock struck 5, Alpha Brentwood rode off on his black motorbike, carrying behind him only a weekender bag with enough clothes he might need on his journey to find a Luna.
He rode for hours, passing land after land owned by other alphas; he had no interest in searching for a mate.
He was entering a town named Billbury when his bike indicated that it was low on gas. He was going to get only gas here and then leave. The small town was populated only by humans, so it was no use for him to search for a mate here.
Humans and wolf shifters were forbidden to be together, and they should never know about his kind.
He drove over to the gas station and went inside to pay for his gas. As he headed to the payment counter, he met a cashier. Her name, Halsey, was pinned on the right side of her chest, and she was a gorgeous female with short hair as dark as a raven and had the most beautiful blue eyes Alpha Brentwood had ever seen.
"My fated mate." His wolf growled inside of him, immediately recognizing what she was to him.
Thrilled to finally find his fated mate, he had been waiting for 24 years. Alpha Brentwood was tempted to pull her from over the counter and bite her, right there, in the convenience store, on her neck, marking her that she was his, while he made slow, passionate love to her on the floor. However, the look of obliviousness in his 28-year-old fated mate's eyes and her asking later, "How much gas would you like to pay for, sir, and on what number pump?" made Alpha Brentwood learn that she had no clue that they were fated mates.
But how could she not know? He was extremely confused.
She was a wolf like him; he sensed it inside her.
Her wolf should also have let her know, just as his beast did, that the moon goddess chose them to be together.
