Introduction

My name is Ophelia. The day my adoptive family threw me out, I smiled and tossed their money in the trash.

No one knew I was "Dawn" — the legendary miracle healer every powerful family desperately sought. No one knew I was behind a billion-dollar fashion empire, or that I could make Wall Street tremble with a single trade. I hid everything behind an ordinary face.

My birth family turned out to be the wealthiest dynasty in the city. And my fiancé — the man I'd already met without knowing it — was Mason Smith, the man the whole city feared.

He took my hand, leaned close, and murmured: "Can you feel my heartbeat right now?"

I pressed my fingers to his chest and replied seriously: "Your heart rate is elevated, but perfectly healthy. No need to worry."

He paused — then smiled. The kind of smile that made my own heart do something I couldn't explain.

But as he kept getting closer to the truth... I wondered how much longer I could keep my last secret hidden.

Some masks were never meant to come off — but what happens when someone refuses to stop looking?

Chapter 1

"Screech—Bang!"

The piercing sound of brakes tore through the silence of the midnight mountain road, followed by a deafening crash.

Ophelia Blake slammed on the brakes of her heavy motorcycle and planted her long legs on the ground. Not far away, a red Lamborghini had been totaled, its front end caved in and windshield shattered into a spiderweb.

She jumped off the bike and violently yanked open the twisted car door.

The man in the driver's seat was covered in blood, his left leg bone piercing through the flesh, a major artery ruptured, blood gushing out like a fountain.

"Lucky you, running into me." After a moment’s hesitation, Ophelia decided to come to the rescue.

Although the man’s injuries looked serious, as long as he was still alive, she considered them nothing more than a minor setback.

She pulled out a first aid kit from the motorcycle's hidden compartment, took out special hemostatic powder and sprinkled it on the man's wound—the gushing blood instantly coagulated. Then she pressed both hands on the man's dislocated leg bone and twisted without hesitation, snapping the broken bone precisely back into place.

Several silver needles flew rapidly into the man's chest, forcibly pulling back his fading vital signs.

The intense pain brought Mason Smith back to consciousness.

Through his blurred vision, he only saw a slender figure wearing a helmet. Instinctively, he reached up and grabbed a necklace from around her neck.

The wailing sirens of ambulances drew near, accompanied by several camouflaged black sedans that approached like phantoms gliding through the darkness.

"So precipitously? There is insufficient time to retrieve the silver needles—one can only pray they shall discern naught of consequence."Ophelia glanced at the necklace clutched tightly in the man's hand and mounted her motorcycle and disappear into the night.

The next day, Silverpeak City, Harmony Healing Hospital.

"Mr. Smith, you're awake!"

By the bedside, a group of top experts were so excited their hands trembled. "The person who saved you last night must be the legendary miracle healer, Dawn! That incredible hemostatic and bone-setting technique—only she in the entire world can do it! Did you see what she looked like?"

Mason's eyes were ice-cold as he slowly opened his right hand.

In his palm lay a pink diamond star necklace, glowing eerily in the cold hospital room.

"Dawn?" He tossed the necklace to his assistant Michael Johnson, his voice hoarse but carrying a chilling possessiveness. "Take this necklace and investigate! No matter what, find this woman for me!"

Meanwhile, Silverpeak City, the Blake Manor.

"Ophelia, are you done packing? There's ten thousand dollars in this card. Take it and get lost."

Her adoptive father John Blake threw the bank card onto the coffee table like trash, his eyes devoid of any affection from eighteen years of raising her, only disgust.

Three months ago, a medical report revealed the truth—Ophelia was not the Blake family's biological daughter.

The Blake family frantically brought back their true heiress Claire Blake, while Ophelia, the fake heiress they'd raised for eighteen years, instantly went from beloved heiress to the family's biggest burden.

Ophelia's adoptive mother Sophia Brown crossed her arms, every word stabbing at Ophelia's heart. "Don't think that just because we raised you for eighteen years you're part of the Blake family. If you hadn't been switched at birth, who would want to raise an outsider like you? Claire is the Blake family's daughter. You're just a fraud who stole her good fortune for eighteen years. Get lost!"

Ophelia clenched her fists, finding it both laughable and heartbreaking. "Don't worry, I can't wait to leave."

"How dare you lose your temper with us?" John slammed the coffee table and shouted, "Letting you stay in the house these three months was generous enough! Claire said you stole her clothes and used her skincare products. I think you were just born poor and can't stand seeing nice things!"

Over the past three months, whenever Claire complained to Sophia, Sophia would blame Ophelia. When she wanted a hot meal, the maid Bianca would give her cold leftovers meant for servants. John even froze her cards and confiscated all her personal belongings, giving everything to Claire.

She harbored suspicions that the infant exchange of yesteryear was no mere inadvertent error, but rather concealed some sinister machination. Were it not for her determination to unearth the veritable truth behind that fateful substitution, she would have long since severed all ties with the Blake family.

"I heard your biological parents are farmers from the countryside, and you have five single brothers?" Sophia sneered, her tone full of contempt. "Your whole family is a perfect match. Once you walk out that door, don't you dare come crawling back to us. Know your place!"

"I've already spent a lot of money raising you for eighteen years," John said coldly, doing the math. "Take this ten thousand dollars and we're even! From now on, the Blake family's wealth and glory have nothing to do with you. Don't come back to Blake Manor."

Just then, Claire came downstairs, linking arms with Sophia and saying sweetly, "Ophelia, even though conditions in the countryside are tough, being with family is the happiest thing in the world. Hurry back to your parents and stop making my mom and dad angry."

Listening to these cutting words, Ophelia laughed coldly, her eyes filled with bone-chilling coldness.

She extended two fingers, picked up the bank card and casually flicked it—the card landed precisely in the trash can.

"Keep that money to buy your own coffins. I don't want it!"

"You ungrateful girl, how dare you!" Sophia was so angry she jumped up and raised her hand to hit her.

Ophelia dodged sideways, her eyes frighteningly cold.

Just then, the doorbell suddenly rang, breaking the tense atmosphere in the living room.

When the door opened, everyone froze.

Standing at the door was a young man in a pure white custom-tailored suit, handsome features, with a limited edition watch on his wrist gleaming in the sunlight.

"Hello, sorry to disturb you!" David's gaze passed over everyone and landed gently on Ophelia. "I'm here to take my sister Ophelia home."

John and Sophia exchanged glances, completely stunned.

Didn't they say she was the daughter of a poor family from the countryside? What's with this man's noble bearing?

But when Sophia looked through the window and saw the mud-splattered black SUV without even a logo parked outside, she immediately laughed mockingly.

"You're dressed so fancy, but you're driving a junk car from a scrapyard?" Sophia rolled her eyes disdainfully. "It doesn't even have a logo. Ophelia, your poor brother really went to great lengths to put on a show for you."

Ophelia looked at the car, a hint of amusement flashing in her eyes.

No logo?

That was one of only ten military-grade custom SUVs in the world.

The entire vehicle was covered in aerospace-grade bulletproof armor, every inch of its lines forged from military-grade titanium alloy in a single piece, impact-resistant and puncture-proof, able to withstand conventional impacts and extreme road conditions—a true mobile fortress on land.

This kind of car couldn't be bought with money alone; you needed extremely high power and influence.

The Blake family, typical new money, would never tell.

Being mocked like this by Sophia, David didn't get angry. Instead, he turned and pulled out several gift boxes from the trunk.

"This is a small gift from my parents to thank you for taking care of my sister for eighteen years."

"Take it away!" Sophia backed away covering her nose, as if the items were garbage. "Who knows how many germs are on things from the countryside. Don't dirty my carpet. Hurry up and take this jinx away!"

The smile on David's face instantly disappeared, replaced by the cold authority of someone in power.

He scanned the so-called mansion, his eyes full of mockery.

"Ophelia," he turned and took the small bag from Ophelia's hand, "where's your luggage? I'll get it."

"It's all here," Ophelia said flatly.

"Good, very good." David laughed in anger.

Eighteen years, and all Ophelia could take with her was one small bag. You could imagine what she'd been through here.

The Jones family would remember this debt!

"Let's go. I'm taking you home!"

Boom—

The modified SUV roared like a beast. David floored it and drove off, spraying exhaust in the Blake family's faces.

In the car, Ophelia casually opened the gift box that Sophia had scorned.

The golden glow nearly blinded her.

Ten custom-made gold bars weighing one pound each, ten permanent property deeds for prime locations in Harmony City, a cash check for one billion dollars, and a box of top-grade jewelry.

Ophelia raised an eyebrow and asked, "David, isn't our family in a poor area of Fairview City?"

David paused, then gripped the steering wheel and laughed. "Fairview City? That's where the Jones Manor is located. Our home is in Emerald Lake Estates in Harmony City."

Emerald Lake Estates? Harmony City's most exclusive wealthy district, rumored to be inaccessible unless your net worth exceeded a hundred billion dollars.

So the Jones family was this powerful. Looks like the Blake family's intelligence network really should be thrown in the trash.

An hour later, the SUV pulled into a palace-like estate.

As soon as Ophelia got out of the car, an elegant and noble beauty rushed over crying and hugged her tightly. "My dear daughter! Mom finally found you!"

The scene brought tears to the eyes of the Jones family patriarch Liam Jones. The whole family surrounded Ophelia like stars around the moon and welcomed her into the main hall.

Just as everyone was happily chatting, a sweet voice rang out. "Sis, welcome home."

A girl in a pink dress walked over. She was Emily Jones, the fake heiress who had been switched at birth. The Jones family had raised her for eighteen years and couldn't bear to send her away even after finding their biological daughter.

Emily smiled sweetly, but deep jealousy lurked in her eyes.

She had seen how happy her parents were just now. Now that the Jones family's true heiress had returned, what position would she have in this family from now on?

Everyone surrounded Ophelia asking questions. As they talked, the butler entered with a line of people in black. "Mr. Jones, the items you ordered for Ms. Ophelia Jones have arrived."

After hearing David say that Ophelia's luggage was just one small backpack, Liam was heartbroken and decided to fill his daughter's room to the brim, making up for what she'd been deprived of.

Dozens of racks lined up, displaying Hermès Himalayan Birkin bags, current season haute couture gowns, rare jewelry... instantly transforming the living room into a top luxury showcase.

Ophelia even spotted her own brand among them—Dawn.
